• In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.

    Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
    Sponsors - Eliminated
    Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
    Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

    On July 1, 2027, all paid memberships will be closed.

    On August 1, 2027, FaunaClassifieds will be terminated.

    Only change I expect that might take place is when I can get around to figuring out when the amount of money I would have to refund for the yearly paid memberships becomes less than the monthly expense of leasing my server, THAT date might be the termination date for the site.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Allergic to Burmese Python Saliva?

Hey guys!

I've been owning snakes of many species for about 10 years and therefore have also been bitten by quite a few as well. I've recently been bitten by a juvenile Burmese Python about a week ago and the site is still raised and has been itching as well. Can there be an allergy to Burmese Python saliva? (I've been bitten by balls, retics, white lipped pythons, but no reaction like this.)

I am unaware of allergies to snake saliva, particularly species specific. It seems unlikely to me, but who knows. More likely is that there is bacteria from the snakes mouth causing the reaction. Many snakes have anticoagulants in their saliva which might cause a reaction. It could also be that there are teeth which broke off in your skin, causing a reaction.
 
I had a friend bitten by a burm in the early 70's and he also appeared to have an allergic reaction and was hospitalized for it.
 
Could of popped a vein or something I was bit by a juvie burm on my finger and caused it to swell and sting also have been bit by one of my big boas in the exact spot which caused swelling and stinging (itching)
