In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Am I in the wrong?

A person had posted in regards to my albino for sale publicly here, and I just wanted to share MY SIDE of the story.

I really don't feel I am in the wrong. I am trying to maintain a name for honesty and integrity, and was just wondering what I did that was wrong, and what I should have changed, to make the situation better.

To whomever ends up getting this snake, I just wanted to say, it was mine for a short while.I spoke to Anne on 6/27 and we came to a verbal agreement for me to buy it. I told her I was getting a postal $ order and sending it that day.

he sent it the 28th, not the 27th, overnight, as agreed upon.

I did, she got it today 6/29 and recieved it at 9:00 AM. I tried calling her all day yesterday and about 15 times today to confirm shipment.

I was waitressing yesterday, he knew that. I missed some of his calls due to work, and promptly called him back at about 10pm, to tell him I get off work at midnight and will talk to him then. My caller ID says he called 6 times today, not "about 15 times". My cell phone died and was rerouted to my home phone.

I got a voicemail around 10:00 PM tonight stating she found out today the snake had mites and took it to the vet.

That's true. I had a few imports come in and failed to quarantine them properly. I have a little mess on my hands. I brought her and a few others to the vet; I've never dealt with mites before and really needed some advice on what to do. I don't think I was out of line for this.

She then stated she was refunding my money.

No. I am not in the process of refunding him money, I already did refund him money. I went to the post office 2 hours after recieving the money order. I not only sent him his money order back, I also added in a $15 money order to cover the shipping fee's he spent to get the money order to me.
I sent this back to him via USPS Priority, and the tracking information is:
03050830000420200436

AKA, she got a better offer.

Fact vs. opinion. True, he only wanted to pay $1000 which included shipping for my 2005 albino girl, but I did not undersell him for any other offer.

I have over 80 snakes and have had plenty come in with mites.

sorry, I have better respect for myself and my business to send sick or infested animals to someone. I refuse to ship out animals if they aren't 100% healthy.

Not to mention, who cant see mites on an albino snake,

Correct, hence why she was taken to the vet immediately, and is the reason why I even found out about the mite problem so quickly to begin with!

not to mention, who takes their snake to the vet to treat it? lol

I never said she was taken their for a treatment, she was taken there for advice.

Crappy excuse, crappy deal.

I'm sorry, but this is disturbing to me. I don't want to send out sick animals via the mail, whether someone wants them or not! She needed to be soaked and paid close attention to tonight, not sent in a shipping box with no water for the night to someone who, right now, I'm questioning his care for his own animals as he pokes fun of me taking my mite-infested snake to the vet for help and advice.

All her credibility is crap as far as I am concerned.

I don't want this to be. I don't want to have a bad name because of this deal. I will stand up for what is right. I don't feel comfortable shipping a mite infested animal. She needs to be cured before she is sent anywhere.

I can provide pics of $ order receipt and phone records to anyone who doesnt believe me.

I can too.

The thing that I didn't do, but should have done, was stayed in better contact. I had several errands to run today, and had to be at work by 3pm.
I was busy till about 10pm, that's when I usually take my breaks. I should have found a pay phone while I was away from home to call him just to let him know what was up. But I don't think I'm a dishonest person because of this. I will have to just learn from my mistakes so nothing like this happens again.

Anne, first off. This is what I see. He paid for the snake. He wanted a great deal, and at $1,000.00 shipped for a albino female. He was getting a killer deal even with the mites. He knew this. He was/is trying to get you to send it even still.

But the facts are as I see them. The snake is not in perfect condition, if it has mites. I would not ship a snake knowing that it has parasites, no way, shape or form. That said, what was the agreement about the snake after treatment? Did you agree to ship her after treatment? Or did you just refund his money?

I will also say, that one day with 6-15 phone calls is way out of line. I am a fair size seller, if someone was to hound me that many times in one day, then they would get a refund asap. And all deals would be off. You are not a scammer, he got a full refund. It sounds like he did not get that deal of a lifetime, and thus the reason for the assult. $1.000.00 is close to half of what she is worth. He knew that it was. JMHO.

I also would not ship a mite-infested snake even if the buyer wanted me to but to cancel the deal was wrong on your part. You accepted the offer. You should have treated the snake and shipped when he was ready.

Anne, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way but most people in this hobby wouldn’t need to take their snake to the Vet to treat mites. I read your introduction when you first joined Fauna and understand you’re new to the hobby and inherited a little money so you bought some albinos.

When people see ads for a morph, or any ad for a higher dollar animal they may also assume that a seller is a little more experienced. That is probably why he is not buying “I had to take my snake to the Vet for mites” excuse. He probably does believe that you found a better offer.

Same difference. My response is the same.

Also, you need to get a handle on this before you sell anything else. Mixing high-end animals in the same area as WC imports is a disaster greater than a mite problem waiting to happen. Not only for you but the people you sell to.

I agree with Dennis on this Anne. I know you didn't "scam" this guy and were right for not shipping the animal with mites but canceling the deal was not right either.
Good luck with the mite problem and making this right for both you and the buyer.

Anne,
I’m sorry if it seems like I’m picking here but I have to ask something else.

Why are you buying WC lots anyway? Resell? Well, that’s fine, but you need to have a little more experience than buying a couple of C.B.B. animals, to deal with all the problems associated with buying or selling imports. You don’t have that experience. Hence, why your morphs have mites.

From the photos you have posted, you don’t house your animals individually.
You need to have a little more experience and have some procedures down before ordering imports.

In my opinion, you’re going to fast and making the same mistakes most inexperienced keepers make.

Dennis is right. IMO, WCs are very hard to care for. They would also need a trip to the vet, almost all imports have internal as well as external parasites. These other parasites could infect your morphs as well.

They are not for the budding herper. Annie, it is nothing against you, but is just they way it is. Also if I can help you about questions on these, feel free to ask.

thank you for the opinions guys.

You're right, I am inexperienced and probably shouldn't have jumped at getting more wild caughts again. I do house my snakes seperately, but I don't house my babies seperately, because I don't have my boaphile's in yet. I should have just bought captive bred and waited to get my boaphile racks to house them individually.

The reason I wanted to buy them was so I could raise them up and put fair prices on them, and always have pictures of available babies on my website.

I probably shouldn't have cancelled it, but I also didn't want him to accuse me of stealing his money. I knew that he could always just resend it after she was cured... I didn't know how long it would take to cure her, and honestly was just a little overwhelmed by the situation.
After reading his post about me, I definately am not going to sell her to him now though, after she is cured. I will probably just end up keeping her. I didn't know it would cause this much of a ruccess!

Varnyard--do you think I should take all of my animals to the vet now incase they have internal parasites now? I don't want them to suffer. :(

Thank you again.

I think the attack on you was more that he was upset at not sealing your albino. It was like "NO NO NO I paid for her you accepted" a $1000 for a female albino is just that a steal! She is beautiful. Good luck with her and dont be afraid to ask a lot of questions, most here are very smart :)

I just wanted to let everyone know, I did apologize to Anne about posting that blurb, but I feel I was 100% justified in doing so.I was also 100% honest in my post .I would have loved to settle it between her and I, but she never gave me the chance to.
Even if she did take the snake to the vet, she never gave me the opportunity to tell her I would wait until the mites were cleared up if she didn't feel comfortable sending it that way. Come on, I get a phone call voice message at 10:00 the night before the supposed shipping day saying "I am sending the $ order back". I never thought I was being "scammed" . I sent a postal $ order so I knew she wouldnt try to cash it dishonestly.
Why am I looking like the bad guy for paying $1,000 for it? She was selling it for $1,100 and I offered her $1,000 like most people do in the herp world. She said she needed the $ for a sewing maching she had to have. lol (women these days) he he.
I already own Albinos and I am going to produce more this year.Yes, it was a super deal but dont forget folks, I wasn't the one who posted the ad, just responded to it.

PLEASE READ: I also called Anne and sent her an e-mail(I can forward it to whomever) and told her if she was genuine about not wanting to sell the snake because of mites, I would re-send the $ order so she can make good on the deal once they are gone.

Anne, any comments regarding this?
Looking forward to your answer seeing you havent returned my e-mail or phone call (again)since I tried again to contact you.
PS
I have done many deals as a seller and buyer in the past , and have always kept in contact with the other person.I called her 15 times because I needed to know when and how she was shipping.Dont forget, I only spoke to her once. That was when she was giving me her address to send the $. What would you do? I had no other choice.

PS
I never wanted to resort to this forum, but like I said earlier , I had no other choice.
Thank you to everyone who supported me in the prior posts.
I dont think Anne is a bad person and am not trying to personally bash her.I just think she made a mistake and am looking forward to her rectifying it.

Regarding the comment about me having albinos and also producing some this year, I just wanted everyone to know, this was not a "once in a lifetime" deal for me.lol
Thats why I posted that info. I was not bragging or being arrogant.

There seems to be some posts missing here?
Anyway from what I have read here I agree with Scott. Anne owes him the snake. Not shipping with mites is fine but not shipping at all is wrong. This thread should be moved to the BOI where it belongs.
