    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

am I just paranoid?

Do snakes breath fast when they're nervous? Because right now, He's basking on his tree under the lamp. I put my finger in there, and he follows it, tongue flickering and all. The one thing that kinda scared me for a sec, is that when he looks up and all, I look at this body, and it seems to be breathing fast. Like panting almost. Is this normal?

hahah.. how sweet.. I just saw him Yawn?

oh ya.. a couple possible factors too. Aquarium temp dropped to 85 on the hot side earlier today. And I sprayed his aquarium, and humidity went up to 70%. Also, I played w/ him for about an hour last night, and it was a little chilly in my room? errr.. sorry for all the noobie questions

just keep an eye on him... it doesnt sound alarming he sounds like he was a bit nervous when you put your hand in there and he was tasting the air to exactly tell what it was (tounge flicking) and he may be hungry

highly doubt he's hungry. Got him a purty big adult mouse tuesday. I think it might be temps, my ambient might be a little low (86 on hot side.)? I've worked on it since.. He looks fine, nothing changed and all, but yea

86 on the warm side at night is fine what are the ambient temps? daytime hot spot should be about 90.... i really do not think its anything to be alarmed at. also how old and long is this boa and what kind?
are you hearing any poping or whezing when he breaths? is he drooling? does the inside of his mouth look pink and healthy (nothing swollen around the teeth and gums, anything abnormal?)

I guess he's fine, he's about 22 inches, 3 month old Nicaraguan boa male. No popping or anything, his face is really clean, and gums are fine.. I guess it's just new dad being paranoid about his first snake. I might need to get my ambient temps up. With a UTH and blacklight, my ambient doesn't normally get past 86 or 88. He rarely even is on the hot side, usually just chills on the cold side of the aquarium.

Should I be worried if humidity is too high? At night, my humidity can get up to 70%. I don't know if this could be a bad thing or whatnot. thanks for all the help robin=)

for an ambient temp 80-82 (dont let it get lower even at night) is fine but the warm spot should run between 90-92 (daytime)... i would find somehow to lower his humidiity to somewhere is the 50% range 70% is a bit high for common redtails... but i just think you are being a bit over protective over protective of your new baby and thats a good thing... if you have anymore questions do not hesitate to ask to shoot me an email... if you do not already have it "the boa constrictor man8ual" has the best BASIC info... the more accurate and detailed stuff you can find on reeputable breeders webpages and by asking question like here or on some of the other boards as well.
enjoy your boa!!!!!!!!
