In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This year I picked up a 3 foot tall potted Norfolk pine as my Christmas tree (they put 2-3 in there so it is nice and full) and I put it up on a stand and decorated it. Then I saw a LED tree over on Amazon.com and decided to get it also.
The LED tree is supposed to arrive today. I live near Houston and can't figure out why they would ship my tree to several different states after it was already in Texas near the beginning of its journey?

Although I am not at all fond of Amazon, this would likely be a shipper (FedEx or UPS) error. I once ordered a set of speakers and watched FedEx ship it from Oregon, to Jacksonville, FL, and then back to Oregon, and again back to Jacksonville, before it headed on to me.

This time of year is just going to be fraught with perils shipping anything.

Looks like SurePost, at it's finest. It's designed to be the cheapest method - the item basically gets piggybacked on flights that have room, without regard for the most direct route. Sometimes it will stay in a single location for a few days, before making its way to your local hub...at which point it is diverted to USPS for final delivery. I dislike SurePost and Smartpost (FedEx's version); and will generally pay for other options if they are available (unless I absolutely don't care when I get it, and won't be watching tracking).

I'lll have stuff sent from Chicago which is 170 miles north from me to Columbus Oh which is 145 miles south of me, then back to Cleveland for delivery.

They diverted it to USPS and it did not arrive yesterday as planned. Maybe later today.

I have amazon prime which has free 2 day shipping on most things I order. I made the mistake of not paying attention once and ordered something for my son. Took like 9 days to get and tracking didn't show until after I received item.

As someone that orders a lot from amazon on both a regular and prime account, when it goes surepost it's pretty common for it to get delayed one day longer than the tracking shows due to the hand off to USPS. It can be rather annoying.

The worst is ordering something and not realizing it's coming from China or Hong Kong and then it shows tracking with a 2 week range about a month from now (and the item shows up before it even shows as shipped lol).

Speaking of this, aren't the majority of the online retailers in this country who are just reselling imported Chinese merchandise going to get a rude awakening as China does more and more direct retail selling and delivery? You can now order a LOT of stuff directly from China with cheaper shipping rates (even free in a lot of cases) than you can get stuff from your typical USA online retailers. In a lot of categories, China has practically taken over Ebay. The stuff is already all mostly made in China anyway, so this is going to be the next logical step. Not only will manufacturing be dead in this country, the retail resellers will be following the same route pretty shortly. China just will not need the middle men any longer.

Now if they can just convert the manuals from Chinglish to real English.....

I have ordered items from China on Ebay (where there are a lot of China sellers) Everything went fine, the shipping took a little more time (of course, I haven't gotten my tree yet, so I can't point to the time factor).
Definitely much cheaper.

I finally got my little tree yesterday after it had vacationed all over the US, no worse for its travels.

Looks nice! My kitties would destroy and my dogs would eat it so I have to enjoy other peoples things, lol.

So far, both trees have been safe from my son's kitty who stays with me, and my dogs. I attribute that to the live tree being up on a stand, and the LED tree not having anything that dangles like tinsel, it just has the LED flower lights.

Today I wrapped some gifts and put them under the LED tree, so far so good, no critters getting into stuff.
