In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone dealt with amazon pets. They have 100% het for albino boas on repti-bid and I talked to the guy today. He seemed like a cool guy and has some good seller responces. I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this person. His name is Eugene Cotillo but he goes by Gene. The email address for the paypal account on the adds is:
[email protected]
This is the ad on repti-bid:

Thanks again.
Also thanks to Lauren Rost for the good report on me. I just saw it today. It was great doing the deal with you as well.

I saw the post also and noticed he had good feedback. A few oddities though: Is it normal for a 100% het piebald pair to only be up for aution for a day? Yesterday morning he had a different pair up going for under $500 only a few hours before the end, it seemed weird that he had no reserve on the auction and almost too good to be true. Has anyone out there purchased and proven a het pair from this guy? Bear in mind I'm not making any accusations, just nervous about getting burned.

If you want to know about Gene at Amazonpets look at the posts on him in the buyer/sellers forum on Reptibid. Here's my personal experience with him:
I bought one of the 100% het for albino redtails that he had on a previous auction. I paid for it the same day that he contacted me about it. That was a Sunday. He was supposed to ship her on Monday for a Tuesday delivery. It took him until Thursday to finally get around to sending my snake for Friday delivery and the paperwork wasn't with her when I got her. In the two weeks since then I've emailed him numerous times and called him. He's nice about it and he always has some excuse but he's told me that he shipped the papers 4 different times since I got the snake and he's even given me tracking numbers which were all invalid numbers. I still don't have the paperwork on her. I also paid him $170 for my snake and I notice that on the auction that he has up now he is selling the same snakes at a much cheaper price. I couldn't give him bad feedback because I didn't actually buy the snake on the auction. He said in the ad that he had others so I emailed him about buying one before the auction was over and you can't leave feedback on someone if you don't win their auction.

I also won a bid on repti bid thats strikes me weird. I called "GENE" on the phone and asked him how much for the 100% het pied pair and he said $800 , I also asked him were they came from and he said another breeder but no name???? He also said he had lone males for sale for $100 each 100% het pied? Something seems fishy here and I am just checking. Why would a breeder with high end ball pythons sell them to himsoo cheap ? And he said he has more coming in? Anyone here know Gene?

Here is my story.

Just after the post above I bought 3 of these boas from Amazon pets. I saw nothing negative about them so decided to make the purchase. I talked to Gene and asked if I could pay with a money order or wait 3 days for money to roll over to my paypal account.
He said that if I would just go ahead and western union the money he would pay for the $western union charge out of his $280 for the snakes. I thought that was cool of him to do.
It cost me $280 but he got $250. His choice. I came on the internet in a couple of days and...

Then I found this:

http://www.reptiforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=314

The snakes were not shipped on the day that we agreed because he said that UPS didnt show up to pick them up. A little weary because of the negative feedback on him I asked for a refund. He sent me back $250 total in two $125 payments. I would like to get the other $30, as that was his idea but I must say that I am pleased to get most of my money back. I personally didnt find him hard to deal with myself, but neither will I criticize anyone that has a different opinion than me. He offered the money back on reptibid forum, and he came through. Someone emailed me today and said I only got my money back because he was afraid of legal action. I dont think that could be proven however. I think that if you have any concerns about your animals you should call him. He wasnt difficult to deal with in my experience.

**UPDATE***

He did send me the other $30. Again, not calling anyone else a liar, but in MY experience he was not hard to deal with at all.

I'm sorry, I re-posted what SPJ already did w/out realizing that I'm not the one who found the link, with the wrong url to boot. I've spent most of today confused, again, I should have paid attention to what I was doing.

I think there are enough red flags

reguarding Reptibid now that if you choose to ignore the warnings, I cannot feel sorry for you. Think about this, anyone producing het Pieds will have to have a Pied, about $10K at least for the Pied, and then some females. Would you invest $10K plus to sell offspring for $100, I think not! WAKE UP people.

Genetic Testing

Several of the reptibid posts mention genetic testing. Do any genetic test really exist for snakes? I realize it would be possible but has anyone actually invested the time and money to locate morph genes and develop commercially available tests? I'm still hopeful that we will someday see the much more simple tests for paternity and siblings.

Absolutely not!

There are no available tests for identifying animals that carry specific color/pattern genes. The development of these tests to identify individual genes is *extremely* costly and time-intensive, and they primarily only exist for identifying genetic diseases in humans. The only good method for identifying animals that are heterozygous for recessive traits is to breed them out.

don't buy from gene

I bought three balls from gene. two died.

I have just returned from the vet and my snake was sick! I don't know how to spell the parasites or medicines I am about to post, so sorry in advance. The vet did a quick smear and found flagelettes and coccidia. He is also sending off a culture and they should let me know monday if the culture shows any additional problems. My snake was treated with sulfa and metronidizal(remember these spellings could be way off.

The vet was Dr. mark fawcett and he was very nice and I would recommend him to any one in utah. He let me look at the parasites and didn't charge me for the medicine.

Now I have to bring my fourth one in to get it checked out too!

Thanks Gene!!!

Were these snakes sold to you as captive bred in the US? Many wild caught snakes are sold 'as is' and haven't been checked or treated for parasites. In this case the owner gets a price break but the animals usually end up needing at least some medical care.
However, if the animals were captive bred they shouldn't have those parasites.

I was told cb

hello,

Yes, they were sold as captive bred, at $15 ea. I bought three females from him for $70 shipped. A few people have relayed to me that they beleive their snakes are imports as well. I talked to the guy who cares for the snakes gene sells and he told me they were anywhere from 3-8 weeks old. and feeding when they left his facility.

He says he has taken several snakes in to be tested and none showed parasites.

Thanks,
Stephan Maycock

COME ON PEOPLE

I have a nice BMW for sale too, all original for $100. If it is too good to be true, PASS ON IT. Do some research, female Ball Pythons, CB, are not $15 each or 3 for $70 or even close to that. If you get burned for your ignorance, that is your fault!buyer beware! I am so tired of hearing "my $75 het albino pair did not produce any Albinos"....well no $h!t. ASK questions, and if it sounds too good to be true, pass on it!

Dave

David , I can tell you there are cb ball pythons for $15,00 and you need to double check your info before you post about people.

I would say I highly doubt

that there are $15 CB FEMALE Ball Pythons for sale. If you see them, I would say there is a HUGE chance that they are CH! Do you know the difference? As for Reptibid, as a SELLER, why would I put up a pair of het animals worth $900 for sale for a starting bid of say $100? Maybe, just maybe because they are NORMALS. You get what you pay for, there are VERY few "good deals" left anymore, and I can promise, there are none on reptibid. I stand by what I have said, there are way to many bad posts about reptibid. And for the record, no, I have not ever put anything up for sale or purchased anything off of reptibid, or any of the bid sites. I prefer to stay away from the FLEA market reptile sites.

Dave

Most likely they ARE captive hatched imports as opposed to true captive born and bred. Why would anyone go through the time, effort and care/feeding expense to sell the few babies from each female for 15.00 each. It costs more than that to produce them. Seems fishy??? (So do the 100% hets?)
