In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

These "breeders" won a Reptibid dutch fixed price auction for an aluminum screen cage. Four days of trying to contact them and sending paypal payment requests, I finally recieved contact from reptibid stating that they requested the bid to be retracted because "the animal I planned to use the cage for died."

I replied back to reptibid and to Amie and Geoff Marshall that this was an unacceptable response. I hate to sound unsympathetic but they purchased a cage, their husbandry practices prior to recieving the cage are of no concern to me, they are obligated to pay for the cage.

After multiple emails back and forth it comes down to this reply from them, "So take me to court, there is no judge in this world that will make me pay for an item I don't need! "

These are people that claim to be breeders. If they have animals that are dying, this bad guy post has double the importance.

You know I had something similiar happen to me. I had a gentleman build us a boa cage and paid him for the supplies up front. He took a bit to make the cage and I accidentally sold the snake. So as to not have bad dealings with anyone I told him to keep the money for the supplies and either keep the cage or sell it to someone else. He was happy and I didn't feel horrible!!

Non payer

Yes, these people are required to pay for it in my opinion. You bid on something you are oblegated to pay for it!

The above statement is a load of trash! You are mad because they won't pay for it and rightly so. They stated they had "A" animal die, not animals as in more then one! So, no it does not have double importance.

Don't try trashing someone's breeding reputation because the sale fell through!

Let's see you show some proof they had/have ANIMALS dieing?

Scott, while I agree with your sentiment.. think about it. What breeder (of chameleons in particular which might as well be rabbits if you're doing it right) can use the excuse that an animal died to not pay for a cheap cage? I have 15 brand new cages assembled in my basement just waiting for eggs to start hatching. Maybe it's just me though. I can always find ways to fill more cages. Its finding room for the cages that can be the problem!

The fact is they tell me they don't need the cage because the animal they bought it for died. Yet they are currently bidding on other animals. Seems they still need a cage, no?

But you are right, conjecture on my part is unneccesary. I just do feel very much slighted by an obviously BS excuse and an arrogant attitude.

Will it impact on my business? No, I've sold plenty of cages in the 8 days since they made their nonpaying purchse.

We all get emails inquiring about products without interest. We all have been told the check's in the mail. But here we have a legally binding contract for payment.

Yep

The fact is they tell me they don't need the cage because the animal they bought it for died. Yet they are currently bidding on other animals. Seems they still need a cage, no?

You should of included that in your first post!

They should pay for it, time wasters!

Today I recieved an email from Reptibid:

You have new Feedback on your auction item

Feedback writer: Amiegeoff

with following Comments:

VERY POOR DESIGN IN CAGE, JAGGED EDGES,SHARP CORNERS,<br>WOULD NOT BUY FROM, BUYER BEWARE!

Isn't that nice?

I have some mixed feelings on this post... though the bad feedback from them really sort of clinches it.

If I bid on an item, I will probably buy it. IF I made a horrible mistake and bid on something I didn't need, or that I stopped needing due to unforseeable circumstances, I would, AS SOON AS I KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM contact the seller with abject apologies and hope they were kind enough to accept my changed circumstances. I would also leave feedback saying how great their business ethics are or something like that.

IF I were a seller so contacted, I would probably be understanding and let it drop... and wary if they bid on another of my auctions.

HOWEVER.... in this case the person never contacted the seller directly in response to numerous attempts to contact them: BAD GUY.

They gave bad and even deceitful feedback:VERY BAD

.... Whether they are bidding on animals or losing or buying all the animals in the world wouldn't change how I felt... so long as they weren't bidding on the same thing I "sold" to them and did not receive payment.

I have been grateful a time or two in the past for understanding sellers. I was going to buy a tiger ratsnake from Dean Allesandri(sp) and when our female passed away, the decision was made not to purchase the male. I'd promised the money to Dean, and I told him that if he wanted me to purchase the animal, I would because I said I would, but if it was possible, I really would prefer to back out of the deal. He was understanding, and I felt good about the transaction, even though nothing changed hands.

Anyway, sounds like these people have shown themselves for the deceitful BAD BUYERS they are by the placement of feedback on an item they never received.

Reptibid

Steve, I'd be getting my butt on the phone to reptibid and getting that feedback retracted with the option of having their account cancelled on the grounds of fraudulent feedback. Really no need for that type of feedback.

Shows them to be liars and people you don't want bidding on your things.

Stick it to em is what I'd do!

What's their I'd on reptibid steve, I want to have them blocked from bidding on anything I might list.

Wow they are good. They know what shape the cage is in and did not even buy it.... They just proved again what kind of business people they are...

Sasheena,

I agree with your sentiment. Were I given a legitimate excuse I would not have the slightest problem with them withdrawing their bid. But I knew full well it was a BS excuse, and one given 4 days after making their purchase (reptibid states that you may be given negative feedback if you do not complete a transaction in 3 days).

They claim to be breeders, I see them bidding on other animals, and yet "the animal I was going to put in the cage died" is supposed to be a legitimate excuse?
They bought a dry good that they obviously will have a use for, I find it hard to be sympathetic.

Yep, I do agree with you... their fraudulent feedback sort of removed any sympathy they might have received from me.

If I ever feel like doing auctions again, and they are live animals, I'll be glad of the feedback here. However I know what a headache it can be to do auctions for stuffed animals... I doubt I would do it for anything else.
