An interesting warning.......

Many years ago I bought an read several novels authored by a guy named Dennis Wheatly. Althought they are all fictional works, in each and every one, on the opening page, he placed the following warning:

I desire to state that I, personally, have never assisted at, or participated in, any ceremony connected with Magic—Black or White.

The literature of occultism is so immense that any conscientious writer can obtain from it abundant material for the background of a romance such as this.

In the present case I have spared no pains- to secure accuracy of detail from existing accounts when describing magical rites or formulas for protection against evil, and these have been verified in conversation with certain persons, sought out for that purpose who are actual practitioners of the Art.

All the characters and situations in this book are entirely imaginary but, in the inquiry necessary to the writing of it, I found ample evidence that Black Magic is still practiced in London, and other cities, at the present day.

Should any of my readers incline to a serious study of the subject, and thus come into contact with a man or a woman of Power, I feel that it is only right to urge them, most strongly, to refrain from being drawn into the practice of the Secret Art in any way. My own observations have led me to an absolute conviction that to do so would bring them into dangers of a very real and concrete nature.

Based on what I can recall of some of the passages in those books, this would certainly give anyone reason enough to give pause for thought.

my dad is from mississippi and lived in the new orleans for some time.... he is not one to believe in the super natural but he said while in new orleans... he saw things that can not be explain (he said voodoo related). i would ask him wha (exactly) and he would just say he didnt want to talk about it.

We visited New Orleans last spring. It's hard to explain, there is an "odd" feeling in that city. Like a negative feeling that's physical there??
We went into two actual voodoo homes. (not the touristy ones) In one my mother had the feeling she was being choked, near the back by several altars. In the other the woman running the home was cordial to everyone who came by, but became hostile to my mother for no reason. I guess I should say my mother was wearing a necklace with a cross at the time.
Other than that, if you are into unique, historical architecture the best catfish ever. Check out New Orleans.

My mother told me that what you see and feel might be real and that you should close your inner eye because our society does not prepare us to deal with what we might encounter. She said to accept what knowledge enters your mind unbidden, but to dimiss it as imagination, however true it might be.

This was is response to my question, "What kind of witch are you anyway?" It took me a long time to realize she was different from other people, and a longer time to scrape up the courage to call her out. Her advice is to shut it all out. She says she was very deeply into it at one time and that too much harm comes of it. No real explanations, though.

My dearest pagan friend says you just need to learn from the right people, but I wouldn't trust ANYONE.

So, where does this leave us? What can you do?

I don't consider myself a "psychic person", no way. I do get these "gut" feelings in certain places and situations, where I literally feel like a sponge for negative energy. I feel like I have to get out right now.
I've chosen to listen to it, because maybe it's like an instinct and meant to help. Does that make any sense? Anyone else get that feeling?

Sometimes I get goosebumps , the hair on my neck stands on end and I swear someone is standing VERY close to me or is watching me.

i get the feeling that somethings going to happen alot.i just don't know if its good or bad before it does.

yeah i get that same feeling, and it generally proves to be accurate. For example, i was at my friends house and his mom wanted us to go to the store with her. As soon as she said it i got that feeling and i refused to go. She was T-boned at a traffic light because some idiot was in a hurry. Luckily she was ok. That sounds kind of stupid but its kind of what you were talking about. I've had quite a few wierd experiences and maybe ill share them later when i have time.
