In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I want to make this as short as possible, but I have the feeling it wont be. I recently replied to an ad on KS regarding a 2005 female albino ball python"sale". Anne Troff was asking $1,100 for it shipped. I called her and offered her $1,000. She said yes so I thought the deal was solidified.I told her I would overnight a postal $ order which I did and she could ship the following day.

Anyway, I never got to personally speak to her after sending the $. I called her probably 15 times the day before shipping was supposed to happen to no avail.I needed to know if I should take 1/2 of a day out of work to wait for the delivery.Needless to say, I got a voice message @ 10:00 PM from Anne saying she found out her snake had mites and didn't want to ship it that way. She also said"don't worry, I sent your $ back"! Never once did she call me to offer shipping the snake after the"so called" mites were gone. I have gotten many snakes before with mites and have been keeping snakes most of my life so I really think that was a lousy excuse. My belief is she got a better offer and screwed me. I also called her and e-mailed her after the fact to tell her I would re-send the $ until the mites were cleared up. Once again, no reply. Bad girl.I am just very disappointed and just wanted to vent a little.
FYI, I have albinos, and will produce more this year, but it was a great deal and I feel the snake should rightfully be shipped to me.

I have read all of her posts on how she says she is so honest.I am publicly giving you, AnnTroff the opportunity to show how hones you are.

PS I can provide all phone records and receipts of shipping($ order) to any disbelievers.

Thanks

Below I pasted an e-mail from me to Anne, and her reply back to me. It's obvious in her reply, she must have gotten a better offer, or someone told her to back out.She states we should have communicated better. How? lol
I called her and e-mailed her with NO response.lol Regarding her saying I posted something about her, I did in her ad on FC, stating how I got screwed. Funny, everybody also thinks she should ship the snake to me.Not to mention, I did it after she called me regarding sending the $ back!!Hopefully she will reply here. I doubt it though. Never thought I had to resort to the forum.

(from Anne)
With regards to your post.

Yes, I did take her to the vet. I care about my animals and have never dealt with mites before. I don't see anything wrong with taking an animal with mites to the vet, why does this make me a bad person?
I had taken in some wild caught ball pythons without quarantining, and I have a little problem on my hands now.

You're right, I could have sent her out this morning with mites, but I chose not to... I don't feel right shipping any animals out that are not perfectly, 100% healthy.
I also want you to know that this morning, not 2 hours after the payment was received, I had gone to the post office to not only priority mail your money order back, but also included a $15 money order to cover the shipping fee's. You are out nothing.
The tracking information is as follows:

I would have been able to send her out after she was cured. We could ave worked this out. But instead you chose to go behind me a post a very one sided post about me, making me look like a liar who cheated you. I'm sorry you didn't get your $1800 animal for $1000 which included shipping. But if you would have just communicated with me a little better before posting that, we could have and would have worked everything out I think.

I'm sorry you feel I've sold her under you and am lying to you.
I'm not a liar and a cheater, and am hurt you would think so of me.

Good luck with your breeding program.

Anne

"I'm sorry you didn't get your $1800 animal for $1000 which included shipping."

That coment should never had entered into the exchange. Once she stated that then I would definitely feel like you do - she got a better deal at the end or someone gave her advice to back out.

Did she ever mention the offer to ship after the mites were gone, etc? Just seeing your side (hopefully she posts here) it doesn't sound liek she asked for your opinion on what to do.

We are talking mites here, not an RI or IBD. :shrug01:

That is the way it goes sometimes. I have had that happen to me about 5 times last year alone, it is not cool. Is she really a ripoff? You did get your money back didn't you?

ripoff?

Well definitely, waiting for words from her, doesn't put her into the "Do business with" category for me.

No, Anne never communicated with me EXCEPT for the first day I called about the snake(picked up first ring) lol. I have tried calling, e-mailing and text messaging her since with no replies. What I forgot to mention also is that I took time out of my busy schedule to go to the bank, and also took 1/2 day out of work to receive the snake. I own an inspection business so every time slot equates to $350.00 minimum(please no comments about that, I am just making a point, not bragging).

To answer "Junkyard" I did get my $ back but also lost over 1/2 day of work, not to mention a super deal on a snake.Lets not forget, SHE was the one posting the ad. Please don't make me out to be the bad guy. lol If you can get me a yearling albino female for $1,000 shipped, lets do it! :)

Regarding the post by Bill and Amy, I do treat people the way I want to be treated. I said I was sending the $ order overnight, I did. Whenever I have a deal going on with another party, whether it be buying or selling, COMMUNICATION is a must! I dont know who you were referring that statement to, but I want everyone to know, I posted that response AFTER I tried calling and e-mailed her a number of times, It was funny how fast she responded once the truth came out.

That statement is part of my signature line, it is not directed to any one person. :slamit:

An agreed upon price is an agreed upon price. Pricing shouldn't be an issue in this transaction. The seller mentioning this a red flag waiving in the wind saying "I don't what I am doing and maybe I should wait on selling things until my experience increases."

Do you have TOS? Did you break the written / verbal implied contract? What is the legality of breaking the 'contract'?

Scott..welcome to fauna and the BOI.

So let me get this straight...you're upset over the loss of a half a days pay??

How bad would you feel to loose your whole collection to a mite infested snake??

You should be thankful that she returned your money. The possibility of a so called great deal, could lead to a host of other problems like URI and IBD!!

Done deal!!

Like I said in the other thread. I believe Anne owes him the snake. From reading the other thread, and I think there's even another related one, I think Anne was borderline on selling in the first place. I don't think she got a better offer, just cold feet.

We've had this discussion on the BOI. When is a deal a "done deal". Most agreed it is when the seller agrees to a price and that price is paid. From that point on it's not the seller's anymore it is the new owner's. The seller's responsibility from receipt of payment is to get the snake to the new owner safely. The option of wanting to keep it isn't available any longer. At least if the seller had any integrity.

Kevin

I'm sure that's one factor

I'm sure loosing a half days pay is one factor. Another would be not having a say on the disposition of a deal concluded on his part. Anne was forthright in mentioning the mites and dealign with them. All it would have taken is an emal, etc mentioning the condition and asking the buyer what he wants to do or at elast having a conversation between the aprties on what to do.

To assume that he wanted his money back is to assume too much.

Thank you, You took the words outta my mouth (insert Meatloaf song) I really think that Anne did the right thing by not sending a snake that had mites, On the other hand Scott I can understand your disappointment.... I feel the lack of communication is a large factor here, Ive talked to Anne (via PM) and she does seem like an upstanding person. I think Anne and Scott should sit down and work this out......Oh on another Note The Title Here is Just Wrong.....Scott you got your Benny's back so she didn't rip you off Just a thought to ponder.....

Laura

Scott should have be consulted prior to returning the money. IMO it was his option to wait until the mites were cure or not. Mites aren't the end of the world.

As stated on the Sounding Off thread linked on post #6 above, I think more time as a non selling hobbyist would have benefitted Anne. Hopefully at a minimum, there are some good lessons leanred from this.

I will gladly change the title if that makes you happy. lol
Once again, I tried and tried and tried etc to communicate with her. If she was so concerned, she could have called me the minute she noticed "the mites". Come on, put yourself in my shoes. I never wanted to resort to this forum. Like I said earlier. it seems this is the only way I could get a response. She answered the phone on the first ring when selling it, but didn't answer the other 20 calls after she got the $. What would you have done?

PS

How do you change titles, and what do you think an appropriate title should be? lol

Did it again....The only thing I do see through all of this is Anne's inexperience... I also see Scott losing a half day's pay...Not a good thing, but workable, I hope there can be something worked out before this whole thing gets ugly.

I view things a bit differently. Let's look at this:

1) Anne did the RIGHT thing by not shipping when she found out she had mites. Period.

2) She should have given him the option to wait until the animal was mite free.

3) I STRONGLY support her backing out of the deal when the buyer started publically bad mouthing her on her own classifieds. Communication is the key here and as is evidence by how quickly the buyer nailed her classified, he got a bit hot headed. He should have taken a breath and calmly explained her what proper protocol was. She sounds like a very even keeled individual that I am sure would have worked this out with you. Instead, you bash her immediately on her classifieds and now, after quite a bit of time goes by, you create her own BOI thread to rip into her some more.

Sorry, but if anything, I view the buyer as someone not to do business with. Anne is young and not experienced in this market. I DO NOT believe she is in anyway a "bad guy" worthy of a BOI thread.

Griz

Griz,

Your post definitely reinforces my opinion on her experience level. I do hold a seller to a higher level then a buyer.

Anne,

I would definitley work on the communication piece and I am sure there are others here would you could ask assistance from especially if you find yourself in unchartered waters.
