    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was discussing RI's during and after pregnancy with another breeder today and we both haven't been able to find any definite answers on the affects of antibiotics on pregnant animals so I figured I'd see if anybody had any first hand experience?

Forums are the last place to get opinions on properly medicating sick animals.
Cultures need to be taken to discern proper meds.

Personally I prefer not to use meds with RI's,slow cooking them with heat and adequate humidity has afforded a high percentage of success without medications.Its a slow process that prevents invasive procedures
and substances being introduced to the animals.:ack2:

Novice keepers need to consult a Qualified Herp DVM

I personally had an experience with this last season. My female, Athena, caught an RI a week after ovulating. We ultrasounded her to verify conception, which was indeed verified. We chose Zosyn, which we believed to be the safest medicine for her. She had a normal pregnancy, and delivered the typical 115 days POS.

She delivered 21 babies, 2 slugs. 10 of the 21 babies were still born, 1 baby was euthanized the next day by my vet due to an umbilicus that was over 1/2 inch wide. Of the 10 remaining alive, there were underbites, kinks, domed heads, etc. only a few of the snakes began eating on their own, and I began forcefeeding a few. In hindsight, I would have euthanized the whole litter. That said, 6 babies are still alive, and doing well in pet only homes. The other 4 failed to thrive, and eventually passed. If at all possible, avoid antibiotics during gestation - we just don't know enough about how they'll affect our lady snakes and their babies. If desired, I can post pictures of the defects

not fun at all. :( i've now gotten some mixed reviews. some experienced things like yours and others had no problems at all. One person I know used Tylan sucessfully but

another kind of interesting tidbit is that the two that I still have that just turned a year old on the 30th are only 127 grams and 87 grams each, at a year old!!! and they eat consistently!!! they just don't seem to grow

but really if it came down to losing mom or the babies...moms probably the one i'd save since you can almost always make more babies... *shrug*

yup, that's the decision I made when I decided to medicate mom. I can never replace Athena... I can always breed boas... While I do love the special babies still with me, mama means more
