Without going into all that Rich has placed in the other thread concerning the "calico corn," let me just say that it seems obvious to me from all of the evidence, that this is not the result of a simple recessive gen at work here. That being said, here is the email exchange that I had with Peter on the subject of his snakes:

i got my pair from fowler who said that he got them
from rainwater. both him and rainwatter produced
calicos, i have not as my female died before they
could mate. it is a simple recessive trait proven. the
female was one of the sakes pictured in kathy love's
corn snake manual in the calico mutation section.

It is interesting to me that he did not address how he knew that calico males did not show the mutation but were carriers of the gene. Perhaps he just misread what I asked, or overlooked it . . . I can't say for certain. Anyway, you all can decide for yourself whatever questions you might have concerning Peter's integrity.
