    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Any musicians here?

As a kid, I dabbled in piano and violin but didn't really take music seriously until I was a guitarist. I played for about six years but haven't practiced in about three years. I'm thinking about starting up again.

Are any of you musicians? How do you manage to fit in time to take care of your animals and devote time to music? I used to practice guitar for 2-3 hours a day, but now I don't know if I can squeeze that in between school and work AND cage cleaning/feeding.

I guess you could call me a musician. lol You're right about how hard it is to fit it in between reptiles and school. For a few years now, I've been playing with a few friends in a folk rock / bluegrass sort of band. With them, I play mostly mandolin, some tenor sax, tenor guitar, octave mando,... kinda depends on the day/week/song. We have a routine two-hour practice on the weekends, but we haven't been playing many shows lately. Over the summer we were playing out almost every week. Our drummer, who's from Sweden, was a flight instructor and just started flying commercially so trying to fit shows into his schedule is a challenge. It's a nice release from the daily routine of chores and school, though.

Here's a picture I took a while ago of some of my instruments that I play:

Top to bottom, left to right, there's the tenor sax, clarinet (12 years now :ack2: ), tenor guitar, guitar, mando and octave mando. There's a few other guitars around here and a digital piano, too. I'm no virtuoso at any particular instrument, but I can learn a new one pretty quick so I just end up with a whole closet full of cases. lol

Oh yeah, in addition to original songs we play, we also cover a lot of Dylan, Dead, Neil Young, Beatles, etc. The other guys play guitar, 6-string banjo, bass and drums. We've been trying to find a regular violin and piano player, too.

:dancer01:

I play cello - I was really good in high school but I don't play as part of the school orchestra now, they're a little cello/bass heavy, and preference goes to music majors. I don't practice either, no time between school, work, animals, and errands.

...which just so happened to be tonight, in my friend's garage, which is not heated. It's -7* outside here. Now that's dedication! lol (my fingers are finally thawed out enough that I can check my email and type).
