In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have recently returned to Phildelphia from Seattle where I was a very active member of the Pacific Northwest Herpetological Society. I was really looking forward to joining the Philadelphia Herp Society, but when I got here, found out it no longer exists!

Are there any Philly herpers out there interested in resurrecting or starting a new herpetological and/or herpetocultural society from scratch? There is a definite void here that needs to be filled. Looking for some like-minded people to share herp knowledge and herp-related activities.
Thanks.

i live in philadelphia

i would love to help start one, but i have little time, but i could help out in any way i could.

Mike.

Thanks for the offer!

I don't know how much time you consider not much, but I was thinking meetings once or twice a month. Having been a member of a Society, including being on the board, I have a lot of ideas on activities I would like to do. If you know anyone else who would be interested, let them know we are trying to get something going.

Thanks.

Thanks, Rose, but only the web site is left.

I know the site is still there. That is why I was so looking forward to joining. However, I contacted the former VP, Tim Curren, as soon as I got into town. He was the one who told me, in person, that the society had folded.

Thus the attempt at reforming or starting new. I appreciate your efforts, though.

I am moving from Philly in a week. Going to sunny Florida!

I know Tim @ Radical Reptiles. I started out there many years ago. Tim's a great guy...Can be strange but has a good heart!

I didn't know they closed up shop. They use to meet down at the zoo.

Sorry for the bad info...Good luck on starting a new group.

The reptile laws in Philly really bite! I think it may be hard to form a group of "trusting" people. Since many herps are illegal within the city limits.
