Anyone bought from Naja-Kaa Exotic Pets & Supplies?

I am interested to know if anyone has bought from Jason Bouton of Naja-Kaa Exotic Pets & Supplies. I bought ten cages from Jason several months ago and I have not been able to get the last five cages from him. He sent me five of them after about three months after I sent him my money, just under $2000.00. The five cages I received were in really bad shape and were beyond repair. The wood core he used was a very cheap type that just crumbles and falls apart. After I got a hold of Jason and told him the conditions the cages were in he would never talk to me again. His answering machine is turned off now and he will not return any of my e-mails. I contacted his father three times but he has not been of any help either. He tells me that he will tell Jason to get a hold of me but nothing ever comes of it. Jasons father does tell me that my five cages are at his house, the fathers house that is, and that Jason will be sending them any time soon. It's been over two months since I last talked with Jasons father now and about four months all together since I made my puchase with Jason Bouton. Please tell me if you have had any problems with this guy. I have posted a Pic of a very very small example of the damage to one corner of one of the five cages that did come in from him. However, they are all like this and worse.

I had heard that he was having some personal problems but I have not been able to get a hold of him either on a totally different matter. I have heard great things about him and his cages in the past but I have never seen any of them for myself

Girl trouble

From what Jason has told me from his last convesation on the phone is that his girl friend of, I think, two years has broken up with him and moved out. Jason thinks she even possibly cheated on him before this ever happened because he told me that she had did this with her last lover before breaking up with him too. From what I gathered she had a lot of the money invested in to his business and had a lot of the strings to get the supplies he was use to getting cheaply or for free through her work place. It's a very long and sad story but then again Jason did receive my money and so he should of never ran in to this problem with my order in the first place. The cages should of been still built with in the last three months at least. In fact he e-mailed me telling me that he would build them inside a month after I purchased them. I paid him through PayPal and I even allowed for the standard 31 days ,for goods to either be shipped or a full refund within that time, to expire thinking that I was being a understanding good guy. At that time he asked me to be patient because some of his building supplies did not come in as scheduled and that he was trying to play catch up with other orders he had already committed himself to. From what I understand from Jason is that his girl friend was getting tiered, and most likely bored, of Jason being consumed by the business. Also, to make her matters worse Jason works a third shift so time was always an issue. Jason's father told me that she took most of everything when she left and that Jason was beside himself in grief. But, all this really doen't matter to me as I have a business to care for and even faced with the same situation I still have a business to tend to first. I have been where Jason is right now but I knew that the pain would go away in time and that I still had to go on with things. I could not expect the world to stop just because I am in deep sorrow over a break-up. Most hand made cage building businesses don't have 48"X28"X18" cages on hand especially ten of them for immediate delivery and so I felt that if Jason needed more than a month at his request that I could allow another month to go by understanding Jasons situations. This matter makes me wonder if the buyer should put money up front for something that does not exist yet and has to be built. I could understand putting up a deposit but not the full amount. When you have work done on your house you never pay the full amount up front for the very same reason that I am in now with Jason. To make matters worse I believe that Jason is playing the waiting game to declare bankruptcy as he has done before in the past, and the time where he can do that again would be coming up soon. I feel that he is going to put all of those that he already owes onto this bankruptcy so he can have a clean slate and start over again. This would explain why he does not answer his phone or e-mails and why he has turned off his answering machine. It would also explain why I received a notice from FedEx two weeks ago informing me of a shipment of five cages from Jason that I have yet received. I called FedEx to ask them if the shipping has already been paid on the shipment but it most likely hasn't. They told me that it is just a notice of a pick up from the shipper and does not mean that it has been already paid for or even that it is going to be shipped. It's just a useless notice. So, I have five cages that are in God awful shape without any doors and no electical grommets, and I don't have the other five cages. I am sure that if the other five do come that they too will be in bad shape as well. I even wrote Jason that I would be satisfied with the damage and expected damage if he would build me two more cages, to just get this over with and at least not to feel totally cheated out of my $2000.00. You see he is using very very cheap brittle particale board for the core material. I live in Arkansas and he lives in Oregon and the cages were shipped FedEx ground as whole cages, no assembly required. As a result of this all the corners are busted up. Even Jason said that it was hard for him to use his staples on that type of wood without it splitting apart or cracking. So, if he owes you anything at all then I wouldn't be expecting it at all, especially if you have already paid for it, or expect it anytime soon.

Well, it's always natural that a woman will screw up your life royally..... Ladies no offense, Erica will beat me 'royally' for that comment later. I'm not sure how appropriate it is to put out the guys very personal business like that in a public forum, but if I had 2 grand invested in him I would be pissed as well and looking for answers. Anyhow, I have made a purchase from Jason some months ago as well. I ordered a 1.1 of his baby albino Burmese pythons that were priced very well. I specified that I needed them by a certain date which was a Tuesday, and the deal depended on that as I was ordering for a local friend. The snakes were not shipped the date I asked but I recieved them the next day. I can't recall exactly why they were a day late, but I do belive I remeber it was not his fault but rather the shippers. The snakes came in beautiful and fed readily after a short week of acclimation. I was overall very happy with the end result of the transaction and so was the intended owner. I am not taking sides in any regards, just posting an experience which happen to be a positive one. I hope Jason gets his life together if thats the case, and I hope equally that everyone owed by him gets what they paid for with a formal apology.

Personal Problems

I have no doubt that Jason has great animals and that he is a really nice guy, don't get me wrong about that. He wasn't all that concerned about calling me up and telling me what was happening with his personal life at the time his girl friend left him. However, to get a clearer picture of what is going on with him right now, for those that might be having problems with business dealings with him at this time or in the past, I felt that letting everyone know what I know about the situation might help others too. Plus, to understand my situation clearly you have to know almost everything that took place to make a fair judgment. I have not told you every little dirty thing that I do know about Jason from what he told me about himself. I feel that anything else other than what I have already stated would be just gossip and plain hurtful. Besides, Jason seemed to be a little relieved to explain his situation to me, a complete stranger other than business with him, and it seemed to help him let some of his anger surface a little. I hope that if he reads any of this that maybe he will see that he is not alone and it might help him snap it together. Besides the emotional level there is the financial situation he has to deal with now on his own. I told his dad that I was more than willing to give Jason more time but Jason never once tried to call me or e-mail me or send a message to me via his dad. I find it silly to be talking with Jasons dad when I should be talking with Jason. I did not want to write on the BOI about any of this. I like lurking around and doing the reading not the complaining. Thank God for this forum! But, what else is there for me to do at this point apart from legal action? I hate doing this when I have given him several several months to work this out with me to just have him turn around and exit his responsibilities with me. I feel that I have been way more than fair with Jason, up to the point where he decided to not complete his end of our business and still has my money, and he should now be as equally fair with me. I didn't start this he did when he decided to crawled under his rock to hide from the world with my money, and leaving me with five busted up cages with no doors or electrical grommets that I pre paid for. So, I decided to post on here telling everyone my story with dealing with Jason. I had hoped that I might hear from others that had similar situations and what came of them. I do know that there are others out there and some of those were settled up. Jason told me about them. Why not mine? Unless mine was the last business he had to deal with and then his money ran out before finishing. However, I did send him just under $2000.00 and he should of been able to have finished the job - right? It's just another case of very bad business dealings despite if he is a great guy or not. Just because one is a great guy doesn't make then a smart one.

Up Date on Cages

Well, after waiting for so so very long I received the rest of my cages from Jason. They are in very bad shape and one cage has a large hole in it as if someone kicked it in but the cages are here at last. Also, the missing parts to the cages I received from Jason in June are here too. Funny thing is that I never received a notice that they were coming today. But, I'm just glad to have this matter finally over with and I will never buy from Jason again. Really it's not because I hold anything against him, which I do, but it is because the quality of his cages are very bad. In the future I will always, when seeking cages to be built for me, go to the professionals that have been in this business long enough to know what they are doing. I would rather pay the extra amount and get professional service than to cut corners and get what I went through with Jason Bouton and his quality of cage building. At least at this point I can put some of the this as a business loss when tax time comes around.
