In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

what i meant to say was

what i meant to say was... i didnt recall seeing him post on kingsnakes before this one post I saw a few days ago. Hes selling 2 juvie het amel. female fat tails and before i agree to buy them I wanted to know if anyone had had any dealings with him before.
Thank you,

my advice for you...

hello,

I have been keeping and breeding herps in SF and SF bay area for a while. I have never heard of his name, however there are many people that keep/breed/sell herps that i do not know.

My recommendations for you (and anyone else buying hets from unknown/small breeders) are this:

1. ask for photos. not just photos of the "het" animals for sale, but photos of the parents, any albino offspring etc. anyone can sell normal looking animals as "hets" and tack on extra $$$..

i noticed that howard also has a "het" axanthic ball python for sale as well, in addition to the "het" fattails.

2. ask where the original producing parents were purchased from and follow up on the source. it only takes a few minutes to make a phone call and most breeders keep accurate customer records.

3. ask for references and follow up on them.

4. if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. best wishes and good luck with your dealings.

Me too

I am interested in hearing experiences about howard leong as well if anyone has any?

He Has Bought From Me A Couple Times...

I have been dealing with Howard for the past six months or so. I have not bought anything from him, but he has bought some very nice, high end, amel fat tails from me on two occasions. I believe he has 1.3 from me.

We have also talked extensively over the phone many times, about fat tails, as well as Ball Pythons. As I said before, I have not bought from Howard, but he seems to be an honest guy to me. If I wanted some of his hets... I would buy them.

Just my opinions. Take care.

Howard Leong was the best!!! :)

Hi All,
I went and meet Howard Leong in person as he invited me to his home to hand pick a baby Brazilian Rainbow Boa. I live in the SF Bay Area so it was an hour drive. He showed me everything and he has an extremely impressive set up, snake collection and a wealth of knowledge. We talked for over an hour and he was one of the nicest and most well informed reptile breeders I have had the pleasure of meeting. He sent me on my way with my snake and a couple of free pinkie mice. I got my female Brazilian Rainbow Boa home and within less than an hour she ate both pinkies and was happily exploring her new enclosure. I know that baby Brazilian Rainbows are usually a bit testy till they figure you out but, this one is the sweetest and most tame. She is alert clear eyed and curious. I will be buying a male BRB from him next year and will make sure to stay in touch with him as he has more Boa's available. The thing that made my buying experience from Howard Leong so great was that he educated me, answered all my questions and showed me his whole collection when I didn't even ask. I got to hold some of his Albino species, Hets and adult Rainbow Boa's as well. Again I didn't need to ask he just offered. I would buy from Howard anytime and be very confident about the quality of anything he sells.
He is one of the good guys.

I agree with Steve

I just recieved a 1.1 pair of Brazilian Rainbow Boas from Howard last week. Other than DHL screwing up the shipping (the package sat an extra day in their air hub in OH), the boas are very nice!! The box was packed very well, with 2 heat packs that, despite DHL's best efforts to kill the boas by letting them sit in 40-50 degree weather, they made it. They even ate for me 3 days later. The boas were honestly depicted on his Kingsnake ad and he showed a genuine concern for the animals when they didn't arrive on time. I'd say buy with confidence from Howard.

if its empty promises you want then he is your guy.

I had some ads on kingsnake back in august of last year (04) for some high end hondurans and some het for applegate pahse pyros.I had them prices at below market cause I was just a week away from leaving for Daytona and needed the money to buy some things for upcomeing shows.
Well,he called my home and left a message that he wanted to purchase such animals etc.
It was on a tuesday night I had just got home from work and it was pretty late but he said I could call up to 11;00 or so and I did.He answered and we talked for a while and I even took some pics as we talked and I send them as we talked and I explained the differant combos of hets etc that I had on the high end stuff.
Well,He said he wanted the 1.1 het applegates and 1.1 or 1.2 (I don't rememeber exactly)nice tri-colored hypos het anery but if I could give him a break since he was buying more than just the pair I had on the net.Ofcoarse as I always do I made him a killer deal and we set a cash price of $2100.00 for the whole group and he was to pick them up on sat morning at the Sacramento show that comeing weekend.
I Turned away a bunch of people that wanted to pay-pal me on the applegate hets and I could have sold at least one of the hypos for sure.
Anyways,I was to leave for Sacramento first thing friday morning and thursday night when I got home I had a e-mail that he no longer wanted the snakes???????????
I e-mailed him and told him that he had really screwed me cause it was to late now for me to re-post them or try to re-contact the people that were intrested cause I had to pack all my snakes for the show and as soon as I returned on monday night from Sac I would have to leave tuesday morning for Daytona? That $2100.00 would have bout me about 5k worth of snakes in daytona if not more due to the Huricane. :hot: He couldn't understand why I was upset and I still wonder when a deal is a deal?People say its when you have the money but its also the principle and not always about the money.I told him to never contact me again about any snakes as I will never sell a thing to him.

Also,I see that he is selling vanishing pattern hypos on the classifieds and they are nothing more than normals? They may have come from a vanishing parent but that doesn't make them vanishing?
If Rainbow Boas is what he's good at maybe he should stick to that?

p.s. I think that in five years this is the first negative thing I have ever said about anybody here?

I'm sorry to hear that!!

I've only dealt with Howard on this one transaction and I was the buyer, so I wouldn't know anything about being a seller with Howard buying. Yeah, I can see where that would suck to have $2100 in sales yanked out from under you. I sometimes wonder what constitutes a "done" deal. I had a person sell a 1.1 pair of rosy boas from under me when I thought I had them and was in the process of doing a bank transfer. That :hot: me off, fer sure. I guess some people will "sell" the same animal to everybody interested, but the first one with cash is the ultimate buyer. Apparently Howard found another "use" for his $2100 and thought nothing of it to pull out of your deal......maybe he had buyers remorse, before he even bought them....I don't know. All I DO know is that I have 2 nice Brazilian rainbow boas from Howard. I guess it's buyer and SELLER beware....lol!!
