    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone else experiancing billing problems with UPS?

We have had our last two transactions with UPS have additional funds added after the shipping was complete. On both occasions we collected the respective amounts from the purchaser, shipped the reptiles and one week later received the email that additional funds were added to each transaction, 1st transaction only $1.64 2nd transaction $20.00. We have every intention of addressing this with UPS, but we were wondering if anyone else was experiencing this? It easy to see how this can cause a problem, for example, you sell a snake for $20.00 shipping is $35.00 then after the deal is done UPS charges you and additional $20.00, you have now paid UPS to give a snake away free of charge. So, if you have experienced anything like this we would like to know, thank you for your time. If this is not the respective forum for this post we apologize in advance.

I had the same problems,,

I had the same problem,,, They kept putting "mystery charges" on my bill..... I had a long drawn out problem with them on 3 fronts,,,
1. They told me that a 12x12x12 box would be shipped actual weight and not go "Dim weight" (which is 9 pounds),, But low and behold every package 12x12x12 package i sent was priced at Dim weight...
2. I requested one of the "label printers"from them to print my labels,,, after using it for 1-2 weeks it messed up,,, ( not sure what happened but it refused to work) so i called them,, they sent out a return label for it,,, and i sent a letter and also called asking them to quit charging me for a printer that i don't have any more and they continued to charge me for the thing for 4 months more,,,, and would not refund the charges for 4 months even though they sent the return label for it,, and knew they had it,,
3. i could never get them to work with me on the charges,,, my account rep said the 12x12x12 box was not gonna be charged Dim weight ( which is like 9 pounds) yet about every other time a package was shipped in the 12 x12 x12 box they would charge me the Dim weight and instead of the shipping being $28-$30.00 it would end up being more like $40-$50.00 per package,,, I called them,, and asked them why some of the 12x12x12 boxes were actual weight and some were Dim weight,, and they had no answer and asked me to prove that all the boxes i was questioning were 12x12x12 .... so i said no problem , "tell me how to prove it?" and they could not tell me how to prove they were 12x12x12 boxes.... i offered to send them a box,,," no that won't do it" they said.... i offered to let them contact the person i sent it to "no that won't do it" and then i even offered to put my driver who picked up all the boxes everyday to tell them that they were 12x12x12 boxes,,, and the guy at billing told me "no , i can't take his word for it" ..... so they basically told me there was nothing i could do to prove it,, and i had to pay the bill....
also they would not work with correcting charges for a 10:30 AM delivery that was not delivered by 10:30 AM... they said that as long as it was delivered by end of day they would not refund the charges,,,,...
I like there tracking system,,, and i really had no problems with the actual boxes getting where they needed to go,, but everything else was a headache,,,
Now i am using UPS and Airborne about 50/50 Airborne is not perfect,,, but they do work with you on charges,,, and they will take a late shipment 100% off your bill,,,,
I have a package that was sent overnight for noon delivery 2 weeks ago,,, it was delivered around 3pm or so,,, and i called and aksed about getting a partial credit for the late delivery,,, and the person i was speaking to said " no problem,, we did not get it there on time,,, i will take it 100% off your bill" so she did,, and gave me a confirmation number about the deletion,,, and then asked me " is there anything else i can do for you today..?" it was a nice conversation,,, and was 100% easier to work with than UPS,,, and so much nicer,,,,
I did have a package problem with Airborne,,( they lost it for a day), and they took the charges off my bill again,,,,
So i don't know who the best is for shipping,,, but i do know that UPS is a Bear to work with and get anything done to correct overcharges on your account! Just my 2 cents about my experiences,,,,,
 
i think it should be rephrased

like who isnt having problems with ups, as the list i am sure would be shorter, than the who is list, my ups guy lobs the animals at my door and honks very lightly as he drives away, wont ever let me sign for my pick up , that makes it rather difficult to prove i personally recieved, after having very strong words with the man he at least knocks once, if i didnt have dogs i wouldnt know if he dropped or not as the are my active alert system, the office hours here are odd to say the least , they are open sometimes? its a pretty big community covering multiple towns and cities, they also have no direct contact, no phone, so thats my 2cents,
 
UPS

only problem i have had with ups was about 8 months ago on the firt time using them.I was shipping a package out and had called to just get a price to compare it to airborne.
well i told the person on the phone that i was NOT scheduling a pickup but just a price quote . well they were 7-8 more then airborne so i said thanks ill be using airborne.

Well the following monday ( 5 days later) my package was sitting outside my door of my shop with a airborne shipping label on the box. well low in behold i come home from working that afternoon and the package was gone and there was a note from a UPS driver and my AIRBORNE shipping label stuck on the door to my shop. so i immeadiately called UPS to ask why they sent a driver to pick up my package that was not shceduled withthem .
they said that they were on shedule for the package ( user error on there end ) i said that i had indeed called for a price but since there was higherthen airborne i had went w/ airborne and told the rep NOT to put me on pickup this trip.Well i asked for them to have the packkage brought back they said they couldnt do that it was already in processing ! i then told them i didnt expect to be billed for the package and that it had better get to its desitnation or i would be very unhappy. they said " we cant take it off we picked it up andshippedit " i then explanined that they had opicked up a package with a AIRBORNE label clearly marked and appliedto the box and removedit and placed there label on it andthat IMO that was theft well they have yet toremove the charge and i have yet to pay it and the pacage never got to its dstination because the idiot driver got something wrong on the label he filled out and its lost in the US

I too have had UPS adjust my shipping charges twice recently weeks after delivery. I've gotten my bill in the mail, paid it, and then received another bill with "adjustments". Both times I have called UPS and received little to no help. I hope this is not a trend in the making because in my rural location UPS has proven to be my best option.

We have been using UPS for years with little to no problems until about 5 months ago. We use UPS express boxes that are purchased from UPS and are designed to only be charged actual weight and not dimensional weight. Well for about a month straight every package that was being sent was being dimensionalized in Kentucky by one of their employees at the hub. At first all I had to do was call and they would fix it right away but now they giving me grief and saying that all packages get dimensionalized and do not go by actual weight. Now it seems that 1 out of every 4 packages I send out get dimensionalized and I get his with a double charge for the extra weight. I have informed them that I will not pay for these charges and they need to be removed but yet have done so. I am not sure why UPS has decided to cut their own throat but they seem to not care if they get caught doing it as they probably get away with more by the ones that don't catch it.
 
Dim weight for ALL Air shipments

I was told that ALL shipments that involved air travel would require they use dimensional weight. This would mean that all next day and two day shipments would be dim weight. If this is wrong, please let me know.

Just alittle advise

When you fill out your shipping documents if you dont put the weight in the box then your screwed. there is nothing you can do. But everytime they pick up for me I always weigh the packages in front of my driver and have him initial next to weight. i average about 900.00 bill monthly with ups and believe me they will try and get you. But dealing with their little screwups does suck but without them it would be a hassle to ship reptiles since they are the only one who will KNOWINGLY ship reptiles. Besides airport to airport. Your not going to find a perfect solution for shipping. i can tell you a bunch of horror stories with airborne,ups,fed ex, etc. but you just have to stay on top of them. And if your shipping reptiles you may want to make sure you contact ups and tell them you are shipping HARMLESS LIZARDS not snakes cause they are making you fill out additional paperwork to ship reptiles now and if they hear noises in the box and your not on their list they will open and hold the box wherever it gets flagged.
