In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I don't know where this belongs for sure. Sorry if this is the wrong place.

Anyway, I bought a few bags of mice-small pinkies, fuzzies, and some bigger ones about 3 or so weeks ago. Not sure exactly, but I have had frozen mice from other companies that weren't bad and never rotted, and did not go bad in around a month. In fact, I had mice that lasted well over a year when I bought enough for the entire year (Those were from RodentPro)
My freezer keeps things frozen very well, but when I went to thaw out several of the bigger mice They all appeared to have black skin and some of them were slimy and the skin was beginning to sepaprate. That would be considered rotting, right? One of my corns went off feed at about the time of this shipment and I am wondering if I just need to trash the whole order and call the company. Expecting the mice to last longer than this isn't unreasonable is it?

I just placed an order with RodentPro to replace the ones from Big Cheese. I threw out all of them

So is expecting frozen mice to last longer than that unreasonable? I didn't think so, and I like to buy in bulk so I don't run out.

I would definitely call BIg Cheese and let them know. My guess is they will offer compensation of some sort. My experiences have always been good with them.

No...not at all unreasonable. I keep rodents frozen for 6-9 months without a problem. It sounds like you got some that maybe thawed and were refrozen after being at room temp far too long.

Just got off the phone with them and they're sending out a new shipment today.

I have ordered from Big Cheese since the company started, and have never had any sort of experience with their mice like you have described. Their feeders are of the highest quality.

How come you simply did not not call Big Cheese to report this to them? Why make a post on the BOI first?
Taking pics of your rodents, emailing the pics to them, and following up with a phone call would have been a course of action that may have had them help rectify the situation.

I'm glad it didn't take long for me to get ahold of them. Now at least I'll have food for everyone.

I wasn't sure if it was a fluke that I had the other mice for so long without them going bad. And I wanted to be sure before I called. That's all.
And I don't have a camera that I can use to take pictures. Going to be getting one this spring though. It's a real hassle not having one.

I guess the point of this thread was I just wanted to get other people's input before I called. Wanted to make sure that I was right in thinking that they should last longer. He did say that he hadn't had this problem before. I'm glad that he hasn't had it before, and I would probably buy from him again in a pinch. He's a nice guy.

I too have ordered from Big Cheese Rodents for years. I've never had an issue with the feeders. I'm actually expecting another round of feeders tomorrow. It does make me wonder what happened.

Hopefully our new shipment looks great.

Kindest regards,

Amanda Rose

I'm sure it will. I didn't have a problem with other shipments from them. Probably just bad luck for me!
