    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone have any experience with Argentines?

Im seriously considering getting one or maybe two...They have really caught my eye and I would love to see your pics or hear about yours...Thanks Cc

I don't currently have any...but if I end up with the cage space, I probably will again. I think they are great snakes. They have a reputation for being fairly hissy, and my experience does not contradict that...but I am sure that there are many calm, quiet ones. They also tend to get larger than bcc/bci

Just how hissy? Ive actually been doing quite a bit of research on these and am told they are nippy/hissy youngsters. I can deal with that. But just how tame can they get as adults? Thanks

The babies

Hiss some, but the adults seem fine.. I have a pair of 03's from Reptilian Dreams (Mike Greathouse) They are fantastic Boas!!! He has a real cool one that he called a Mosaic, if he see this thread maybe he will repost the pic of it .. Definately get one or a pair, i guarantee you won't be disappointed!!! Mike

I have worked with both young and adult. They were all hissy, but once out of their cages they were sweethearts. They are awesome creatures.

I've been working with Argentines for a few years now and my experiences have been somewhat different then most. I have found them to be very docile animals. Yes, I have seen the occasional hissy baby, but you get the same thing in a litter of Colombians.

The only instances of aggression from the adults have been from my largest female when she is gravid. She gets a little "grumpy" for two or three weeks prior to giving birth, but that seems justifiable in my mind.

In all, they are a large and impressive snake.

Regarding Mosaic, (that is her name, not a new morph that I am trying to name) she was the product of a normal to normal breeding. All of her siblings appeared normal. Here is a link to a thread about her with some pictures: Mosaic

She is 2 1/2 years old now and doing well. In a couple more years, I plan to breed her back and see if there's anything genetic going on here.

We've had a few over the years, and an Argentine was actually the very first snake that my husband picked out for himself. As has been reported by many here as typical, we had hissy babies but never an aggressive adult. Like most boa constrictors, if you continue to handle them regularly past the hissy stage, they soon give up the bravado.

Mike, Mosaic is absolutely fabulous! Keep us posted on any babies you get from her!
