Anyone know these people Janene or Duane Beattie
I am wondering if sending my money was a big mistake?
Before the purchase everything seemed fine. After I sent the money he just JUMPED off the deep end. He wants to mail my baby chamemelons 2day through the postal service. he even believes they deliver on Sundays.
Am I the one missing something!
I just have to ask.

I wouldn't worry too much, he stands behind his animals. I have bought from him before, and have had no problems. with shipping, or anything else

He is a good guy to work with, I bought a 10 lot of veileds from him, they arrived in 1 day USPS all wonderful and fat and healthy.

I later purchased a 1.2 of Nosy Bes, they did take 2 days but arrived fine and well.

He has very nice chameleons and USPS is 1 day to some areas and 2 to others, Ive never had a problem shipping or receiving them USPS even in 2 days.

In Spring weather, reptiles are usualyl at their normal temps, Ive even had some leos sent in Priority that arrived in 2 days and were all happy and healthy.

I would really not worry with h im, he has a live arrival guarantee and stands behind his sales and the quality of his reptiles.

Duane is fantastic fellow and his veileds met my breeder criteria, I bought from him a few months ago and his females are now laying eggs for me (the first laid 46!!!!!) bred into my lines of veileds. Did you ever get your issue resolved? During ordering, I ran into a snag myself, but he was quick to make it right and send me a replacement animal, though it did take a couple days... He got back to me, ALLRIGHT!

He got back to me allright. He did what I probably would have done which was just refund my money. He called me a few childish names and then he said he was deleting me. He stated something in his add which said HE PAYS shipping which means he can send them anyway he wants.
Truth be known it was a LOSE, LOSE situation. I would have done a few things different. If he would have email me from the begining that it was the cost of the shipping then I would have gladly paid a little extra to have them UPSed, FEDXed or Airborn expressed next day service. I didn't think it wise to send baby chameleons 2 day through our postal service. It isn't healthy on the chameleons. It was that simple. Instead he told me these stories of these carriers trying to get his account information and ruin his credit and then start shipping stuff COD and ETC.... I will have to go back to his emails "which I still have as I save everything" to actually quote him. He just beat around the bush so bad that I actually did all the footwork for him. I called these carriers, found out which ones were near by and asked how a chameleon could be shipped and what the procedures were and what kind of info was needed. I sent that all back to him to show him that he did not have to be paranoid. NEVER did he say, hay I need $10 to $20 bucks extra to ship next day.
From the looks of his chameleons I feel comfortable to say he is a good breeder, and he probably knows his stuff. A lot more than me I am sure of that! BUT and I do me BUT... He lacks in the communication department. He needs to take a verbal JUDO class or maybe some communication classes at his local University, something! It isn't the way I prefer to do business, but I was not the seller in this sale. I really wanted to do business with this guy, but I will have to find chameleons elsewhere! I have yet to come across a problem like this, but I guess there is a first time for everything!
I want to thank everyone who posted. If I was to come across a post like this my comments would not be all that positive after the games this guy played.

I am so sprry to hear that you had problems with Duane, he was very helpful when I bought from him and very informative in helping me with all my questions and I had a ton of them with each purchase.

Thats why I from him the 2nd time, I acutally looked to see if he had what I wanted since I had such a good experience with him.

Sorry about the problems you had, he was a realyl stand up guy with me both times I bought from him.

I think he is knowledgeable

I think the guy has a lot going on and he is very knowledgeable! I honestly felt like he was just trying to save a buck on shipping. Like I said before, I would have paid extra to have them overnighted. He didn't have to make up these stories.

Could be, and he may have just been having a bad day.

I know when I bought the auction stated free express mail and he is only 3 states from me and express was guaranteed for 1 day so I didn't worry and they arrived on time, 2nd time they were a day late but still happy and healthy.

I ship a lot and had UPS stop shipping for me for about a month, the driver was incorrect about shipping polocies and refused to take anything once she foudn out it was live animals, then airbourne kept having problems picking up from me since Im in the middle of no where and Ive never bothered to get certified with fed x since UPS finally stated shipping for me again.

Not sure what went wrong for you and I hope you found what you needed and were able to get you some new chams!

And Also He Said "Go to the Airborn express counter, give the man the box, fill out the lable, put my address where the package is shipped and your return address incase it gets lost. And you don't even have to take your momma with you."
He Kept Demanding That I Sent Them The Way He Wanted Them Sent. Florida Companies Operate Different From My State. He Couldn't Get That In His Head. Or That I Was Paying The Shipping Not Him. I Do This As A Hobby And I Enjoy Doing It. This Is The First Time I Had Anything Bad Said About Me. I Sent His Money Back Because I Did Not Want To Deal With Him Anymore. He's Right I Did Delete Him. I Don't Want People With His Attitude In My Circle. I Was Scared To Send Him Animals Because I Felt I Couldn't Trust Him. End Of Story. Then I Read This On Here. (After Getting Six Emails From Former Hobbist) The Funny Thing Is He Even Emailed Me And Told Me He Didn't Read My Ad Right. (It Reads; Sent Express Mail). His Loss Not Mine, I Wish Him Good Luck In His Quest For Chameleons. I Know He'll Have A Hard Time Finding A Guy Like Me To Help Him Out.

I purchased veilds and panthers from duane also. eric is right about the usps shipping. some areas are 2 day only. but everything always arrives ok. if it doesnt duane always does whats right. the reptile world is a small place. word gets around fast. i followed up on a few things and found what you were complaining about. the price he gave you shipped was a fantastic price! try to get that somewhere else!! you wont!! you will also be hard pressed to find an honest guy like him. there are a couple out there , but they are few and FAR between.
when someone says "shipped" that always means that they are using the shipping method they see fit unless it is otherwise listed. you cannot get yourself into a snit if someone is not comfortable with the shipping company you want. you should be happy that there are guys out there that will tell you that they prefer one company over the other. ..for whatever reason.
heck, some guys will just toss them in a box and say "screw you, i got your money" and leave you hanging.
i think you jumped the gun here and i found out that you might actually owe an appology to duane!!
as far as the add goes, you need to read and ask questions BEFORE ordering. would you buy a car just by an image? no, you'd go ask questions, do research, and so on.(atleast a smart person who was truely interested in something would)
bottom line here.......
you owe duane an appology, you need to write why you didnt read the add and was adamant about choosing your own shipper. do you have a clue what each shipper charges? do you have a clue what the charges would have been if youd gone with whom you wanted? believe me, they ripped me off for a ton of money..(i finally caught the errors) you would have paid atleast 5 times what you would have paid with usps....the "other" shiper doesnt charge actual weight...they will charge by dimentional or actual, whichever is more!! one time i sent a 1.4 lb box and because it was a larger box they charged me as if it weighed 25 lbs!! would you rather have that??
all you uhad to do was to just let duane ship the veilds to you and you would be playing with some of the best baby veilds out there....and would have a great breeder and an honest guy to help you when you need it....

i sincerely hope you will take my advice ,,this trade is full of too many "dead-meaters" and not enough guys who care about what they are doing and how the customer does with their product...

I agree totally,

USPS is NOT the best way to ship animals, however, I had no problems receiving mine from Beattie. The first set he shipped me showed up second day and there were no problems with the chameleons, they were healthy and well started, the second animal he shipped to me USPS showed up the next day on schedule. Duane was helpful and a great guy. I do not think it's fair to Duane to judge him or ask other of him what is clearly stated in his ads as a USPS shipper. The animals I received fron Duane are hands down some of the nicest chams that are presently in my collection, last night one of his females laid 55 eggs for me the FIRST clutch she had (and another of his fems laid 55 also 4 days ago), I don't know what else you could possibly ask for in a veiled, whether it shows up next day or second day is totally irrelevant, as long as they get to you and are healthy that's all that I need, and any probs that occur will be taken care of. I haven't posted here alot but when I found this about Duane it really bothered me, knowing that I had dealt with him twice and had an excellant experience.

Ive been burned a few times, Eric L. and Duane B. are 2 of the very very few people I choose to deal with now.

Ive taken a couple chances here an there, a very few turned out OK, my list of bad deals is much longer than my list of good deals.

Ive also had buyers that were impossible to please, which is what I though the situation was here so I emailed to post to Duane in case he had not seen it so he could have a chance to post his side of the sale and Im sure it was exactly as he posted in his reply.

He is an excellant seller and helped me so so much before, during and after the sale that I was shocked to see the post from Gil.
