In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone know of South Florida Rodents

I called Jack this afternoon at 4:20PM Central Time regarding this.

He stated that "The Mouse Factory" actually got them from him

Fascinating. So The Mouse Factory's proprietors have discovered time travel? Since they'd have had to travel forward in time to take these images off the South Florida Rodents site, and then travelled back to upload them to their site. One would wonder why they're selling rodents still, if that's the case -- surely time travel would be more lucrative.

The upload date on, say, Mouse_Pinky.jpg on SFR's site is 5 Aug 07. The same image, on The Mouse Factory's site (_m_lrg_pink.jpg) is 24 May 05. Heck, the original registration date on southfloridarodents.com is just 12 Apr 07, and I know I've seen those pictures on The Mouse Factory before then.

As Jack told me on the phone..."What's the big deal...a mouse is just a mouse".

I saved a copy of his webpage should The Mouse Factory need any proof.

Regards,
Steve

Wow, can you get any lower :ack2: I just looked on both sites . I checked on a bunch of different pics and ALL the ones I checked were identical !!!! Has anyone let the mouse factory know of this yet ? Jack must have really created a "buzz" for his company  he has a banner that says Due to overwelming demand their out of stock on everything except large and jumbo rats lol !! I think that buzz is all his former customer's leaving !!

A mouse is a mouse huh ? How about flat out stealing someone else's pictures ? He still had one foot left :shootfoot Not someone I will ever buy from again .

Below is the response I got back from The Mouse Factory.

Jack, you're a SLIME BALL!!!!

Actually, she doesn't need an expensive lawyer at all, presuming she took the photos in question (copyright is generally granted on such things at the moment of creation, unless assigned via a work-for-hire situation or similar).

The Digital Millenium Copyright Act -- 17 USC 512(c), available at http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap5.html -- allows for her to file a takedown with the service provider, via email. Every (US-based) provider is required to maintain a designated agent for service of DMCA takedown notices with the US Copyright Office in order to maintain safe harbour status under the provisions of the law.

17 USC 512(c)(3)(A) lists the information she'd need to provide to the service provider in order for her report to be considered complete under the DMCA. It's fairly straight-forward, insofar as most anyone can figure out how to file it properly, and there are a bunch of fill-in-the-blank type forms on the 'net that she can use if she doesn't want to wade through the law itself to figure out exactly what she needs. That said, for a piece of law, the requirements are also really easily digested by the average person.

Upon receipt of a complete DMCA takedown notice, the provider is required to 'expeditiously' remove or disable access to the material in question. The person who placed the material in question is entitled under the act to file a counter notification, stating under penalty of perjury that they believe they have a legal right to use the material in the manner they are doing so. The counter notification must include their full name, address, telephone number, and a statement that the individual consents to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court.

Ms. Queen doesn't need a lawyer for any of this, nor does she need to have registered the copyright on the photos in question with the US Copyright Office. Doing so, I believe, provides her the ability to seek punitive as well as actual damages in Federal District Court should it come to that and she decide to take it that far, but not registering the copyright doesn't negate the copyright itself.

Disclaimer: I Am Not A Lawyer, This Is Not Legal Advice. I have, however, been dealing with the provider end of the DMCA process for the better part of the last 5 years.

My Positive Experience...

Just thought I'd drop a quick note on my positive experience with South Florida Rodents. I live in the Phila, PA area & I ordered some rodents from them about 2 months ago after seeing an ad posted on ks.com. I like to switch things up, spread my business around and try a new supplier every once in a while. It seems that small/medium-sized rats are in high demand at certain times of the year and become temporarily 'out of stock' with some of the larger rodent companies from time to time. This always coincides with whenever I need to order them.lol Anyway, I ordered a hundred or so small rats and a hundred or so medium rats and was impressed with the quality. Everything was just as they advertised. Shipping was professional. No problems..no junk..just nice rodents as advertised. I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

I guess that where I'm different.

I would definitely hesitate to do business with a liar and a thief.

Is there a support-the-scumbag club I'm not aware of?

Every man has his price. Some will do it even for free rats..I see.

What?

I am not sure what you are implying but I did not receive any free rats. I paid for my order. I have no affiliation, friendship nor other connection to the company. I simply posted my positive one-time experience. As far as I can tell, that is the main purpose of this entire website...posting feedback related to purchasing experiences. I am a small-time hobbyist and may not be well-known for selling snakes. However, I have been a customer of many of the top breeders & 'good guys' here and I'm sure any one of them would vouch that I am a nice, honest person. Once again, I'm not sure what you were implying but I can promise you that you are way off.

So you
would not hesitate to do business with them again
even though you know that they have been their own shills here (self promoting under a different ID), trash talking their competition without a shred of proof, and usiing stolen photos?

I think people can see what you think about ethics.

Please stop trying to attack me.

Once again, I simply posted my experience regarding one transaction. I am not sure why Jim O and critical bill are trying to start an online fight with me. Your words could easily be interpreted by some as rude, immature and unprofessional.

From the posts that I quickly scanned, it appeared that there was an apology made by the person at S.Florida Rodents. I did not analyze every detail of this entire 10-page thread. I quickly scanned the first page of posts. Apparantly I missed the rest of the controversial details behind their company. I have nothing to apologize for. Besides, I did not know about this thread at the time of my order with them (which as I stated was a few months ago). Regardless, it does not take away from the fact that I had a positive transaction with them. Would I do business with them again? After re-reading the posts, I honestly don't know...who knows...maybe they'll straighten everything out eventually. The rats I received appeared to be clean & healthy. I typically order my rodents from RodentPro. As I previously stated, when I needed to order rodents, RodentPro was out of the small/medium rats so I simply looked for a 1-time alternative source.

Jason,

The issue is not your good experience. That's perfectly valid and I'm happy for you as no doubt Chuck is as well. The issue that I take is that they have knowingly stolen other people's photos and when caught in the act have done nothing. That puts their "apology" in perspective well enough for me to know that these are really scumbags at heart who only gave an "apology" when caught and who lack ethics. Those are the type of people with whom I would not do business.

My issue was that you said that you
would not hesitate to do business with them again
I'm glad that you are rethinking that.

late night ramblings

It would not be the first time that I've had a good transaction with someone that has turned out to be not-so-good with other people after the fact.

I base most decisions for snake purchases off of the feedback posted by others on the BOI. The key word being 'snake'. Prior to this thread I would have never thought about checking the BOI for the quality of rodent suppliers. Other than typical concerns of rodent quality (ie what they're fed) it's not really an area of business I would have expected to find deceptive folks. It seems like it a pretty straight-forward business.

As for your comments, Jim & Chuck...in the future, please don't be so quick to jump to conclusions about others by posting negative comments & antagonizing statements. It's not nice to to judge others so quickly, especially if you don't know them. I guess all I'm suggesting is..try to be more civil in your repiles. As for this thread, I think I've said all that needs to be said....it's late (1am) and I need to get up in 4 hours...ugh!

I get all of my rodents from jack, he really is a great guy, he just made a mistake...like EVERYONE does.

Jack's mistakes were lying and stealing. I don't lie and I don't steal, so there goes your theory that EVERYONE does it.

In the future, and I think I speak for more than just a few here, speak for yourself and not everyone.

Thank you, now carry on.

I just saw an advertisement for South Florida Rodents on FAUNA. I clicked, was impressed, and in need of crickets. But wait I thought, let's Google southfloridarodents review before I give my credit information out.... And this was what came up. Dirty past for a company and a man trying to create buzz. I genuinely feel bad about it because I can't bring myself to trust Jack as a business man. I'll stick with rodent pro and mulberry farms.

Adam

I was in need of a quick supply of African Soft Furred Rats and could not find them available anywhere except South Florida Rodents. I was, in effect, forced to purchase from them in order to try to get a certain finicky eater started before it was too late.
To sum up my experience, the ordering process was easy, communications were excellent, pricing was very competitive, the package arrived AMAZINGLY fast, and the feeder animals were cleaner and packed better than any other dealer I had purchased from before.
Pleased with my order I decided to see if it was a fluke and placed another order for my normal feeders. SURPISE, exact same scenario as the first order.
I certainly can't comment on his past track record, but I can honestly say that the product I received was far superior in both quality and packaging when compared to the two other well known rodent suppliers that I normally use.
