    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone know of South Florida Rodents

First post (although I've lurked for a while), but I wanted to come in and comment on this particular resource based on my experiences.

I've been ordering from South Florida Rodents for a year and a half now; I was originally attracted to the free shipping over $100 offer they have since I live in Florida as well and it was/remains easier for me to buy in bulk most of the time (and thus take advantage of that offer). They always ship out on Mondays and Tuesdays (usually Tuesdays) and you have your rodents on Wednesday. Their packaging is always clean, professional and I've been nothing but satisfied.

In fact, Jack went above and beyond for me on one occasion. When I ordered a group of rats from him, I realized I ordered weans when I meant to order African Soft Furs, so I gave him a call and he was more than happy to just have me Paypal the difference and changed the order for me.
 
Perusing BOI and saw a name I recognized (South Florida Rodents), so I opened and read the thread.

For what my first post is worth, I've had a similar experience to the person above me. I've been buying from South Florida Rodents for about a year. I get my orders on Wednesday every time.

The orders always arrive when they are supposed to, they are neat, clean, with ample dry ice to keep them frozen, and the rodents/chicks are good quality. I have had zero problems with any of my orders.

His customer service is above average, IMO. He's allowed me to change orders a day or two after I placed them and before they shipped, and the one time I needed to cancel an order the money was refunded by the end of that day. Maybe not earth shattering things, but they helped me out and he did them with no problem or hesitation.

I will continue to order my frozen rodents and chicks from South Florida Rodents.
 
It seems this person has turned things around? I know most of the trouble was 8 years ago now, hopefully they have better ethics and such now. Came across their site on my search for brass rodent water nipples and they were cheaper and free shipping, but had to stop myself and check the boi and was not too pleased, seems the past few people have had better experiences, but did they fix their deceptive advertising from the past?

I don't know that I've seen any negative comments about the business. The guy made a stupid mistake here, in creating a shill account to "generate some buzz"; but that was a long time ago. If that's the only negative feedback you can find, is it worth steering clear? (That's a question each person will have to answer for themselves)
 
True. But then I found what I was looking for, with several extra parts (the nipples, 20 t joints for the water line, and the fittings to attach them to the wire) for 30.97 shipped, while just 20 of his would brass nipples be $50. So I think that's my desiding factor, but glad to see he has turned things around.

I get all my frozen rats from them. Clean rats no poop or pee in packaging and great shipping and rodent pricing. I also know of people that visited his facilty with only good things to say.
 
Just placed my first order yesterday as I am in Florida so free shipping is always welcome and of late nobody has had anything bad to say so why not, will update with a compare to my usual supplier when they arrive....
 
I've been ordering from Jack for 3+ years now, i live 30 minutes from his business and always pick my orders up to avoid shipping costs for frozen feeders, i've never had any problems at all. My brother also gets crickets shipped to him for his bearded dragons. We have no complaints.
 
I can't remember if I knew about the old posts, I think I did. I've ordered from SFR a bunch of times, although they aren't my first choice, because I like to pick up locally. I don't have any complaints. Mice are in ziplocks, not vacuum sealed, fairly but not perfectly clean, and on the larger size. I have gotten HUGE retired breeders from there, if that's something that interests you. He also has sales and discounts once in a while, if you're on his mailing list.

Just had my first dealings with Jack at South Fl Rodents and was very happy. Im only an hour away so we drove to his place, as I had already placed my order online prior to this. He was very friendly, showed us around, had a good set up, excellent prices and have certainly found my place to do my business now. I was so sick of buying a so called jumbo or large rat that were always too small and way, way over priced! When I kept large numbers of snakes I did most business with Rodent Pro and lived in WV, but now I only keep a small amt. and its a quick trip to get what I need.
Jack has about anything live and frozen anyone could ever need along with super prices.
Thanks Jack for making us feel welcome and you have a customer for many years to come. Highly recommended. Thumbs up bud!!
