    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Hi,
I was woundering if anyone has purchased from them before ? I'm planning on working out a deal with them and would love to hear what other people have to say first.

I've been in NYC for close to 30 years, and know others around here. I've never heard of them before. That doesn't say much, other than that.

Thanks, Joe

Do you have a addy on them or a web site?

I am just curious because i as well have never heard of them and know most of the people here in the tri state area either from selling to or buying from them.
I checked all the listings for long island and could not find anything.

If the owner is Ron, I can tell you

he is an honest person to deal with. They have been around for at least 7 to 8 years. Ron is a monitor freak and runs a clean operation, quality animals and knows what he is talking about. I dont think you will have any problems dealing with him.

The Reptile Center

YES! i have heard of them and i have done business with them. They are in Centerreach, new york which is in Nassau County Long Island. They only thing i could say about them is:

THEY ARE PRICEY FOR JUST FAIR QUALITY REPTILES.

THEY TEND NOT TO HAVE EVRYTHING THEY SAY ON THEIR WEBSITE.

OTHERWISE NOTHING EXTREMLY NEGATIVE.

BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO DO BUSINESS OF A LARGE QUANITY AND QUALITY I WOULD GO ELSEWHERE. iF YOU NEED ANY RECOMMENDATIONS I CAN RECOMMEND YOU TO A GREAT REPTILE BREEDER AND DEALER WHERE YOU GET QUALITY AT A REASONABLE PRICE. JUST LET ME KNOW

BEN

The Reptile Center

Sure.........I mainly deal with monitors and geckos and I always like to deal with new breeders if they have a good reputation.

The Reptile Center is a stand up shop

The Reptile Center is owned by Paul Russo and their animals are all good. Customer service is also excellent, any problems they fix it. Paul has been into reptiles all his life and he was the one that described Boa constrictor longicauda (PRICE & RUSSO 1991). They are in Centereach which is in Suffolk not Nassau, just west of Nicols rd on Rt25. The prices for a petshop are the best on Long Island and even comparable to many internet prices. Their internet site is new and the prices there are lower for mail order. You can't go wrong with them, give them a call or visit. The shop has been expanded since Ron owned it and the tanks are kept very clean and neat and no over crowding. They also stock a decent amount of dry goods and feeders. They are very reasonable on feeder prices too (crix are 24 for a $1...way better than any other petshop). I consider them the premiere reptile shop on Long Island, the cleanest and best informed. They do most of their sales in store and have just expanded to mail order.

Regards,
John Heiser

hey BEN

This is a thread about The Reptile Center, not an advertising forum for anyone else.

:rotflmao: Sorry to correct you but Centereach is in Suffolk County I was born there :rotflmao: and I vaguly rememeber them but that was years ago

Good Store

I live 5 mins from the store and I guess I stop in there once or twice a week.
Paul, Mike, Steve, Adam and the rest of the crew are knowledgeable, fair and honest.
They have a great selection of healthy animals, that are well displayed in clean set-ups.
I stopped in tonight and spent a good 1/2 hour just chatting with Paul and Mike about reps, fish and whatever else came up in conversation.

Good store and good guyz!

Jerry, Paul bought it within the last few years I believe?

The store had a great reputation prior to the purchase, and it is every bit as worthy now.

I've sold to them before. Good people.

When Ron opened up the Reptile Center

we were one of the first vendors to sell to him. He became a good steady customer. Has he left the industry alltogether ? Anyway thanks for the info.

Ron went back to school

He sold the store to Paul when he had an opportunity to return to school. All is well with him and he's still doing herps including kimberly rock monitors and some other dwarf monitors. Still stops in the store frequently.

Just to keep this on teh original thread. The shop was nice whe Ron had it but Paul has really poured himself into it and it shows. A great selection including boas, gtp, balls, many torts, dendrobates, mantellas, tree frogs, geckos, uros, you name it he probably has it. The comment that he doesn't have everything listed on the website is just wrong. He not only has all that but there's a lot of stock he doesn't put on the website. Paul and his brother Vin were the first to bring in indonesia way back in the day and Paul continues to have the same enthusiasm he always has had.
