In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone see a problem in this?

Okay, I've got a number of adult leopard geckos to sell and I haven't had too much interest. I've sold a few, but would like to move a few more to free up space and a little time.

I've been toying with the idea of offering a sort of stud service with purchase. I've got a couple really nice males - Blizzard, Hypo Tang and Tangerine that I could pair the purchased female gecko up with for a few days for breeding to take place. This could be an added incentive for the purchaser who doesn't yet have a mate. I'm assuming that most people buying normals/high yellows nowadays will be just starting out in the hobby and this could give them a head start on something different.

Two questions:

1. Does anyone find anything wrong with this sort of promotion/offer? (I don't want to find myself on the BOI for it)

2. Does anyone think this could be an effective marketing strategy?

Thanks,

Without giving it a great deal of thought, I can't see much wrong with the idea. The service could be offered as optional to any who wants it. It would be a good way for someone just starting to get into blizzards or such.
I don't kno wwhat ahy of those are worth these days, they're all just leopard geckos to me, but it may be an added incentive for some people.

I think the biggest point would be to make it clear that you are not guaranteeing that they will hatch babies from this or that the female will even be gravid.
Just offer it as a service and nothing more.

This is a common practice among rabbit breeders, or at least it used to be.

The only problem with studding reptiles is that you run a high risk of transmitting diseases and things could get very sticky. Adenovirus and bad strains of coccidia are the two main things that I would be worried about. You would not want to contract either of these or it could be devastating to your collection and others. Then their is always liability if it does come up, if animals are being passed around, how do you know where it came from and you could take the blame.
Unfortunately the leopard gecko market really crashed last season. You may want to consider selling wholesale.

He's not talking about offering the stud service to other people's geckos, he means as an added incentive to buyers he will breed the gecko they are buying from him to one of his males before shipping, so they may possibly be gravid with the offspring of a more desirable morph.
Both the stud and the female would both be a part of his group to begin with.
