    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am not much of a photographer. This was during a drought and water holes were scarce. I walked up on several waterholes only a few feet wide and there would be 10 or 12 Cottonmouths. In this particular locale, they do not turn as dark as many adults in other areas. Saw a lot of wildlife on this trip including a Coachwhip on the beach.

Yeah, cottonmouths take advantage of the shrinking water holes concentrating fish in a smaller area making easy meals of them. It has been VERY dry here in Florida lately. Soon the cottonmouths will be on the move looking for water themselves.

Oh, btw, if you ever get a chance to hunt Hatteras Island in NC, the cottonmouths there are actually green. Rather attractive. For a cottonmouth, anyway.

Rich, I usually go down there 2 to 3 times a year. I always think of you when I make the left off of Capital Circle onto Crawfordville Hwy. Amazing Herping and fishing opportunities down your way that do not exist in North Georgia.

Give me a ring sometime if you are in the area. Wish I could recommend some herping spots for you, but I never did spend much time in the field after I moved here. And by the time I had the time, I had lost the incentive. But would be fun just to kick about in the woods again for a while. Oh, I have found diamondbacks on my own property fairly often, so they are definitely around here. I usually leave them be and they move on eventually. Found coral snakes and all the usual stuff now and again. They just show up when they show up.
