In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Appetite Decreased

Oh, I thought I'd mention it although it might not be much help... Over the last couple days he's been restless, glass dancing, running back and forth, giving me the black beard until I let him have some free roam time, and even after the lights go out, he will still run around and mess around for almost a half hour. He's doing it now as I type, I forgot his lights were on still and thought someone was in the house, lol.

so i found what i was looking for, you dont feed them mice (pinkies). mice (pinkies) carry parasites. and some ppl fed them to there beardies.

as far as the restless, did you put a hide spot in the cage for him like Angie said to do?

Re:

For a long time he was on crickets, but he stopped being interested in those months and months ago. He's been on supers, phoenix, and waxies. I try to rotate. I offer more fruits and veggies though. (collards, apples, kale, spaghetti squash, and strawberries are the most recent).

I don't think fuzzies/pinkies are good for them, so he's never had them before. Strictly just insects and veggies.

Hey, i also meant to tell you as much as your dragon may like those fruits. you really shouldn't feed to much to your beardie. the high levels of sugar are not good for them.

yea what happens is you gave candy to a baby. when you got a beardie that is use to eating crix, (especially long period of time). you introduce worms and stuff like that, they got nuts and turn there nose up at crix. usually takes months to get them to eat crix again. or you have to cut there feedings and only offer crix as live feeders. happened to me a few times before. thats not good either crix are cheaper than worms. save more money by feeding crix

Yes, I am aware that they are high in sugars, like I said I try to rotate them as much as possible, so they aren't offered everyday.

As for him losing interest in crickets - I let him try supers. BAD mistake.

He usually sleeps in his hide everynight, other than that he's out of it and usually climbs on top to be king of his tank.

ok, well the days are getting shorter and starting to get cooler. got to be getting cooler up there especially at night. and dragons pick up on that. also how many hrs a day is your lights on?

I try to keep them on from 10am to 10pm. I don't have a timer or anything, I do it all my self... It's my morning routine.

ok, so its only a 12 hr cycle, some ppl do it 14 hrs. i was going to tell you to back the light down. more sleep time. may make him more active during the day. so you can still decrease the lights by an hr. or so to see how he reacts. just pretend he in the wild. the lights dont run 12 hrs a day every day!!!

I'll tune it down to 10 hours for a few days to see how that goes. I just wish the big guy would eat, it might be normal, but it's just making me a worried mommy.

it doesnt hurt to try. one day only give him a half a day with lights and turn out for the rest of the day. dont even offer him food. and the following day throw 1 ONE cricket or 1 ONE superworm in there see what his response is. if he doesnt eat it right then in there, take it out of his cage. i dunno might bump him up alittle. as far as eating. when i pull my females outta hibernation some eat within a day or two, maybe three. but i had a female not eat for 16 days. just wasnt hungry and of course after that long i was getting worried. one day, i was throwing food in the tank for her cage mate. and she ran over an ate. big relief. dragons arent snakes, they cant go a long time without eating for long periods of time, i.e. once a week feedings. but you might be surprised how long they can go when the appetite isnt there. when my males are in full blow breeding season, or hibernation time. they dont eat nothing. so dont be to worried. just try those little tib bits and let me know how it turns out. still wouldnt hurt to get a fecal on a 3 yr old dragon that probly hasnt had one before.

Well, so far nothing is any different. He still hasn't even attempted to look at food. I shortened his lights like you suggested but it didn't phase him one bit, he still acted like they were on and was acting normal. Offered a bit of shredded apples and kale but nothing happened, so then offered a super a few hours later, and nothing happened!

So far I haven't been able to figure out a vet visit. Hopefully next week I'll have him in.

I'm so worried!

really doesn't need a vet visit yet. just take them a fecal sample! they wont be happy cause they want the 80 100 dollar vet visit but they wont refuse it. cause there still making money...

yes, just get it when he goes to the bathroom. the vet actually only takes a very small sample puts it in a jar shakes it up alittle and takes a sample thats stuck to the side. sticks it on the slide. slides it on the tray of the microscope (the stage) and looks for any irregularities.

He will only poo in the water, so will a water logged poo be okay to bag up for the vet sample? lol

Waterlogged poo should be fine; the sooner you catch the sample, the better. If he has enough of a parasite to worry about, the ova will still be there for the technician to see. Don't worry about the urates, they just need the poo. Make sure you just mention it to them that the sample was taken from water :)

Here are some pictures of his basking area with him in or near it. He's 20 inches long, not sure of weight. One is him in my hand.

So the first pic looks like a early morning. the second pic, looks like he's basking in the window? Are these pictures taken throughout the day or same time was it his morning or later in the day? looking at your dragon he looks healthy (body wise). he has nice back fat ( the muscles down the center or the dragons back)and a belly. he looks sluggish in the first pic, no doubt. but look at his eye in the third pic. open nice and wide, alert looking. and the second pic he looks like he's trying to bask. Maybe just a good time to take the next step and get a fecal sample, just to be on the safe side. go from there. Take him to the vet for a "visit". you will spend almost 100 bucks, just tryin to keep you from spending alot of money, i been there before, more than once. i know what there gonna tell you.
