In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone done business with Applegate Reptiles (Robert Applegate of Campo California)? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bob is one of the pioneers of herpetology. He is extremely knowledgable and just a darn nice guy. I'm sure that you'll have no problems.

Rule of thumb: If someone has reptiles named after them - they are probably alright.

Good luck.

Yeah, I think I've heard of that guy. Didn't they name a kingsnake morph after him or something? ;) :D

LOL

I don't think I'd worry about doing trouble with Bob.

And a Gopher snake :D

Bob is a great guy, no way you'll have problems with him. He's one of the original "big names" in the business.

Just have to chime in as well. Bob is an all around great guy. Awesome animals. He also helped introduce us around when we were first getting started, really made us enjoy becoming part of the herp community.

Bob's the Man :)

Annie - You have nothing to worry about when dealing with Bob Applegate. Heck, he was a legend in herpetoculture back when I was still a youngster :)

Bob is easy to deal with, knowledgable and has produced some of the nicest colubrids ever offered to reptile collectors/breeders !

Thanks, Stephen Emerick

Bob Applegate

One of the BEST!!!
His animals are incredible.
You can buy with complete confidence that you are getting the best of the best.
He is also a great person to seek colubrid advice from.
Thanks for all the help Bob.

You mean Uncle Bob?

You realize your talking about “Uncle Bob” don’t you? This is a man who’s been in the industry so long that he used PAPER price lists in the old days and he actually “Mailed” them to peoples houses. And I’m talking mail with a stamp. On top of that he’s just about one of the most knowledgeable and friendly people in this industry. You will never have any bad dealings with Bob Applegate.

The Applegate Snake Ranch

I know everyone before me has already told you what you need to hear/know to make a decison but.....

I lived in San Diego back in 1995 and I owned maybe two snakes. I heard through others about Bob Applegate and had read his books too. I picked up the phone and called him and started talking snakes. Without even a promise that I was going to buy snakes from him, he invited me out to his beautiful home to see first hand how a professional snake operation is maintained. All I can say is ...WOW...that guy has a ton of snakes kept in immaculate housing.

You can't go wrong and even if something happened to the animal, Bob would replace it (within reason).

Russ Bates

P.S. If you ever happen to get to visit his snake ranch.....be very cautious if he asks you to help him transfer a rattle snake into an aquarium....

:D

Real nice guy. I've bought snakes from him several times from those "old time" price lists without seeing any pictures of the exact animals I was getting. I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with him several years ago when the IHS was here in New Orleans. He's been doing this long before some of us even owned any snakes. Like some of the others said, when you have morphs named after you, you must be doing something right.

Need I say more?? Toured me through his ranch while hackin' his lungs out from all those years of brush fire fighting. Even got to hold his oversized male beaded lizard:) Unbelievable man....

Simply just amazing!!

We met Bob through a friend that has been friends with him for years, we always let him know that he says hi at every show we see him at. The first show we did that at he made us feel right at home like he had known us for quite a while and every show since then as well. There is no dought in anyones mind that this guy is simply one of the best if not "the best" around. You can not go wrong with any purchase from him at all!

Wont find a better guy to deal with and he is now old enough to qualify as a true legend! Looking forward to finally meeting him at Daytona this year!Jim Elliott
