In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sorry- new to posting. Thought title was for my full name as per instructions.
I answered an ad posted by Aprylla Hall for a lot of female ball pythons. I paid her in full via PayPal under the business name BackBayBargains. It took a while for her to get back to me then she told me they all died. She promised replacement animals and guaranteed them to be CBB. When I asked for info to verify this she told me she would be away from her computer for a few days. I filed a complaint through PayPal and she responded to them with a USPS tracking number, but it was for a receipt-not the animals I had purchased. Then she refused to ship the replacements unless I retracted the complaint FIRST- leaving myself unprotected. I told her I would immediately cancel the complaint upon receipt of the animals and she accused me of being untrustworthy and refused to ship the animals. I have still not received the animals or a refund. Anyone have similar dealings with her?

If you do a search you will see Aprylla has a great reputation here, as well as other forums. I am sure you two can work this out. I know she posted that she was relocating maybe that is the cause of the bad communication.

I would send her an email stating you posted on the BOI with a link to this thread. I am sure she will address it here.

If what you state is accurate, you should have an immediate refund. I would like to hear what she has to say.

"She promised replacement animals and guaranteed them to be CBB. When I asked for info to verify this she told me she would be away from her computer for a few days. I filed a complaint through PayPal"

Humm... More details would be helpful. For starters, how long after she promised you the replacment Animals did you wait before you filed your complaint? You said that she did get back to you, and she did say that she was going to be gone for a few days. I am guessing you may have jumped the gun a bit, in that it sounds like you did not give her much time to make good before you reported your complaint. That being said, Aprylla has NO right to hold YOUR snakes hostage and make demands. If she does not like how you handled things, she should refund your money right away and be done with you. Here is a link to a thread concerning her on reptibids Bad Guy Reports feedback forum. I think it might help answer a few questions for you in regard to her situation.

Remember it is always best to try to work things out before you take actions that might hinder the other party in getting your funds back to you. Good luck, and I hope it all works out. Please keep us posted.

I asked for a refund and she told me she could not do it because I had frozen her PayPal account with my complaint. I know that is not the case because one of the resolution tabs is "issue a refund". I was shocked when she told me all the animals in her care had died. I was even more shocked to have her refuse to ship the "Replacements" she had promised after I had paid her in full and then waited.

"If what you state is accurate, you should have an immediate refund. I would like to hear what she has to say."

I agree, and I sent her a private message on another board (her profile would not allow e-mails) informing her of the thread.

What I meant was ... when I asked for a contact number to verify the snakes were CBB - her reply was that she would be away from her computer rather than supplying the info. (Which she never did)
I had told her that I have been ripped off in the past and could not in good conscience withdraw the complaint before receiving the animals, but would do so immediately upon receipt.
PayPal rules state that they will onlt obtain a refund if there are sufficient funds to do so. Since I did not know her- what would keep her from withdrawing all the money after I lifted the complaint and never responding again?

I am by no means a paypal wizzard, but if a complaint is filed on an account, I was under the impression that the Paypal administration would freeze the account. That being said, she could still send you a postal money order. If things are as you asy, it is TECHNICALLY her responsability to get the funds back to you. However, like I mentioned, I think you acted too quickly with your complaint.

died."

I agree it sounds fishy on the surface, but you should read the thread I sent you the link to. I think it will explain a lot for you.

"I was even more shocked to have her refuse to ship the "Replacements" she had promised after I had paid her in full and then waited."

I agree, and again I am going to ask you, How long did you wait from the time she said she would send you replacments, but would be gone for a few days? Remember patience is a virtue, and it sometimes pays off as well.

As for the death of her animals, I would view the link that was posted.

I understand your concern. I have never had a dispute with PayPal, I am not sure how it works. If she can resolve it by simply refunding you I see no issue that is apparent why she would not.

I agree with Dennis. She has proven to be a very trusting person. I also know she has had some very bad things happen to her lately. It is not an excuse to hold your Payment, but I am pretty sure if you want her to paypal it back, you are going to have to remove the complaint. I realize it is her responsability to get you the money, but playnig hard ball only seems to be working against you at this point if her account is frozen. Sooner or later someone is going to have to put the gun down first and trust the other person to not shoot. Why not make the first move and end this stand off.

"Lol, James you type faster."

Then I feel for ya, cause I hold the world low speed record for typing. I think I even lost out to a chicken...

Thank you to whomever sent the other thread. It is consistent with what she told me was going on in her life. I did not question that. What I did question is... why would she still refuse to ship the animals after they were paid for in full? I simply stated that I would not cancel the complaint until I received the shipment. Since she already had my money and I had nothing, was this unfair? That is why I started this inquiry- to find out if there was some sort of deception going on.
As for the PayPal procedure- when you receive notice of a complaint of non shipment you are given the option of supplying a shipment tracking number or issuing a refund. She chose to supply a tracking number causing PayPal to believe the shipment had been made. In fact, what she shipped was only a receipt. This caused me to be even more suspicious since it appeared she was trying to circumvent their investigation by making them believe the animals had been shipped.

I sent her an email with a link.

I had e-mailed her again earlier today (I guess it would be yesterday now) and it wasn't a matter of how much time elapsed pch101, because she refused to EVER ship them unless I left myself unprotected by canceling the complaint FIRST. I was just too suspicious and concerned to leave myself vulnerable and reiterated that I would cancel the complaint immediately after receiving the animals.
Her reply was that she would not issue a refund or ship the animals but would leave it up to PayPal to resolve the matter and then pointed out that PayPal stated it could take several weeks.

Would you post the-mails please?

Like I said, It looks as though she owes you a refund, and she owes you one right now. Also, if what you say is true, and she deceived paypal saying she sent, I would be pretty angry myself. However, I think I would have just asked for my money back (instead of the replacments) right from the start, if things sounded as fishy as you are telling us. I do not doubt what you say, and I do not agree with her using your money as a bargining chip. However I have not heard her side of things yet either.

Well, I left for a while to access my work e-mail. That is the address I used in communicating with her throughout this transaction. It is a secure site designed only for work computers but can be accessed from home with a little effort.
After she sent me a message saying she would leave it up to PayPal and not follow through with the transaction unless they forced her, I became even more suspicious-it seemed like she was intentionally trying to drag out refunding my money for as long as possible. I replied that I would not be content to let it go at that and if I did not receive the shipment or a refund I would have to turn it over to the police.
She finally responded stating that she would instruct her boyfriend Damien to grant a refund through PayPal. It is a shame that it took the threat of police intervention to obtain what should have been readily offered in the beginning.
From the support I have read hear on the forum, I am even more surprised at her actions and attitudes.
pch101, you stated she has proven herself to be very trusting. I assume you meant trustworthy, since she was not willing to trust me even after I had sent her the money.
It really is a shame that she would have refused shipment and tarnished her reputation in my eyes when so many of you had thought highly of her. I really have to question her motives. Thanks for all your input and I hope she gets her life in order. I would really have much rather just gotten the animals I paid for and had a pleasant transaction.

Sorry, I am not a quick typist either. I am also not that computer adept to cut the e-mails from my work address and paste them here. I am sure that she is, and will trust her to post them in their entirety for anyone concerned.
As far as being angry and just asking for the refund only.... she led me to believe that she was obtaining a wholesale price (in this particular instance- she was supposed to be doing some sort of trade) and that she would be better off financially in completing the transaction. Since her original animals had died, if she just refunded the money she would have no gain. I thought that giving her the option of sending replacement animals might give her some return on investment even if it was a diminished one. I even told her that even be happy to purchase more animals from her after I had received the first shipment. My only stipulation all along was that I actually receive the animals I had paid for.
