In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Great pic!
So how do you like birsed substrate?
Does it mold if it gets wet?
And is it dusty?
Do you wash it before you use it?
My friend wants to use it for his Uromasty and I wanna use it for my Collared.

Birdseed

I use birdseed for my mali uromastyx, my nigerian uromastyx and my collareds, I also use if for baby Bearded Dragons.

It doesn't get dusty.

And it doesn't mold. The only thing it will do is if a lot of water is spilled and pools (doesnt evaporate right away) The millet will start to grow roots, but it isn't really a problem, the roots stay under the surface, and you can easily remove this patch of root (it all intertwines.)

I don't wash it before I use it, I just buy a 50 lb. bag of wild birdseed (primarily millet) from Wal-Mart and add what I need to the cage. The birdseed also contains some vitamin D-3 (since birds also need extra in their diet)

I spot clean daily and change all the seeds once monthly.

The seed is very inexpensive, and you dont have to worry about your lizards eatting the seed, because most of it is digested, and the rest passes easily, unlike sand.

I highly recommend trying birdseed.

Awesome.
Thank you.
I really wanna use it, and after my poor, old Golden geckos die, I will hopefully put a divider in the 15-gallon long tank and put Web-Foot geckos and Dune geckos on opposite sides.
And use birdseed for them too.
Thanks.
