Thank you for being profesional and understanding.
I had to take care of an order i was sent by Arachnophiliacs,(Bruce Carr).
I'm trying to fix an isue of parasite infested T's he sent to my shop.
In that order was a 2''$220.00 Female b.Klassi that was DOA with parasites.
The species was not listed as WC.
This is why there was a hold up on ordering more T's from other Dealers.
I will not be doing buisness with Mr.Carr in the future, nore are we at N Tarantula's wanting any replacements after the risk of our future projects.

Did you notify Mr. Carr and what was his response, is he going to send a refund?
Here is his TOS for DOA:
"Live arrival guarantee applies to all domestic shipments via XpressPost, Priority Post or air cargo. For all mail shipments, receiver must be present to receive the parcel in order for guarantee to apply.
Live arrival guarantee for international orders applies to airline shipments only. In the event of a DOA, claims must be made within 24 hours and photo(s) will be required as proof. "

Do you have pix of the dead T and parasites, and did you quarantine the new Ts?

Sorry you lost such a pricy T.

How do you know it was wild caught? Brachypelma are listed CITES Appendix II, so it wouldn't be wild caught unless it is a smuggled specimen.

Thanks to Lucille, I have just been notified of this thread. The spider I sent Chris was perfectly healthy and is one of the three last remaining spiders from an eggsac hatched about 2 1/2 years ago. I have never lost a single one and still have the remaining brother and sister here with me now. Additionally, the photos that Chris did take, show a fat, healthy, well fed young spider. There is no indication of any parasite or disease and I have no idea what gave Mr. Davey this idea. I told him on the phone as well as by email, that the DOA policy most certainly does apply in his case and he wrote me rejecting the replacement and pointing accusations about which he clearly has no knowledge. Here is our email exchange intact, starting from when he informed of the problem:

Hi Chris! I had no idea you were a dealer of any kind, you never told me any of that! I certainly did look at the spider's sternum and there is no "parasit3e pitting". I have nothing to say regarding what you do or do not condone at your shop, that has nothing to do with me, but I will tell you once again that that juvenile B. klaasi, fat and healthy, was definitely not wc. If you choose to believe so, that is your prerogative, but getting wc klaasi would be far more difficult than getting cb anyhow. They are 100% captive bred and I always list wc as ST, MT or LT depending on the length of time in captivity. Cheers,

You must think i'm one of those fly by night sort of dealers.
I guess you didn't look hard enough at the spiders sternum?
Parasite Pitting does not happen with CB.
We do not condone stupidity here at our shop.
Next time list them WC or do inclosure maintenance to fix the problem.
We do not mix sick stock with our own.
And there is no need to send us a sick T again.

Hi Chris! I am pretty certain there was no infection of any kind on that spider! I have raised them since they were tiny spiderlings and have not lost a single one! I am quite certain that with the residue on the paper towel and the fluid in the mouth area that damage was sustained in shipping. This would also make sense of the fact that the smaller and lighter emilia made it. Either way, DOA policy applies and I owe you a replacement :( You will need to cover the shipping cost, but that would be it. Please let me know when you are ready and what shipping date would be best for you :) Cheers,

Bruce

I just got back from my Bank, they said for you to sign or print my name.
You can use a Bank machine to cash it or sign my name and use the cashier.
They said there should be no problem with that.
Give me a call ok buddy.
Cheers:)

I had no idea he was a seller and prior to this issue, our conversations were friendly and positive. Cheers,
Bruce

Here is the first photo Mr. Davey sent me of the spider, showing its underside. There is no "evidence" of any parasites or illness..

He later sent me other photos, including this one, showing fluid leaking from the mouth of the spider, not altogether unusual for a deceased spider!

The picture i sent you are 4000x4000 nice try posting small pictures here.
Do you ever use a salt and water trick that makes the namatode excrete out of the abdomen and mouth of a Tarantula?
Do you even know what it looks like?
Brown and yellow excretions with grey stings and pods that move out the abdomen and mouth.
The pics you posted here still show a damages sternum where the parasites ate away ate it on the right hand side.
It don't matter to me though because i'm sure the video will be public on Youtube and more pictures to back it all.
All in it's HD for everyone to see.
And she will also be going to another lab for further testing, because she could have also drown in that soaked paper towel, that i could rang out with my hands and many other details.

parasite infested T's .

Chris, do you have photos that clearly identify that any of the other Ts had parasites?
And can you enlarge and identify the parasites on the alleged dead T?

You are not trying to send back all the rest of the Ts, if you are keeping them, why not accept a replacement?

Chris:
I posted the photos exactly as they were downloaded and then uploaded, no modifications. I suspect Fauna downsizes the photos, but I really don't know. I have been keeping and breeding tarantulas for 28 years and have only seen nematodes once. I remember very well what that looked I do not know where you get your spiders from, but if you are that familiar with them, you might want to shop elsewhere. That photo shows no nematodes whatsoever and nothing at all in the first place. Don't you also find it an odd coincidence that this has not happened with her sister and brother, both of whom are sitting right here? These spiders have been with me since hatching and are also completely healthy. I have sold nearly the entire eggsac to many people and none have come to me suspecting nematodes. About the paper towel, I know it was not soaked and I am amazed that you would even claim that it was. It can be clearly seen in the first photo that the towelling is barely damp at best and I only use a couple of drops of water. What I did find odd about your photo series, is that the later photos not only show more fluid in the mouth, but the paper towel is also dirtier. I will be curious to know about the other lab (what happened with the first one?), so do keep me posted..

B.S Bruce, Do you know why?I had other T dealers confirmation that the pictures do work though their Emails as well.
You know as well as i do,that everyone one, knows everyone in this buisness.
My partners here that work at my shop LACAL,also seen the sick T And my buisness partner Jessie Edmonds recorded it for documentation.

No answers yet to these important questions.
My thinking is if the other Ts in the order had parasites, enough to cause a death (allegedly), the buyer would be (loudly) wanting to send them all back, and taking pictures of ill Ts and showing them. But that is not happening. Very odd.

And she will also be going to another lab for further testing, because she could have also drown in that soaked paper towel, that i could rang out with my hands and many other details.

This is false. Unless a tarantula was submerged in a full deli cup of water for over a day with mo ability to move about, there's no way one will drown.

freedum send me your email and i'll send you the pictures i sent Bruce.
My cousin Jessie will send the now.
And use your mouse to zoom in too,to see all the Nematodes in the shot.
ZOOM in good I will send them too you

What pictures? Of a tarantula in a deli cup of water? That's the only way a tarantula would drown. A sopping wet paper towel certainly wouldn't do it.

I will say that, while it is not easy to tell from that pic, the "fluid" around the mouth looks similar to a nematode infection. However, the spider itself doesn't appear to be in a condition consistent with how menatodes affect spiders.

Not all spiders look the same when they die, some T's don't even curl up when dying or dead.
And a vile that is way too small for a T in soaking paper towel, will spell disaster.
Everyone know's not to soak the paper towel.

They don't look the same due to different conditions of death. Nematodes cause dehydration and starvation, among other things. With such a plump abdomen, that spider suffered from neither.

And I don't know how long you have been in to T's, but "everyone" certainly doesn't agree with shipping with dry paper towels. Unless you're talkint a tiny sling, which that is not, shipping with damp paper towels *is* a good idea. By your rationale, ICUs would be death traps - very clearly, they are not.
