    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So I had a surprise clutch of 4 eggs from a snake I bought online. I did not have a working incubator ready to go because this was going to be my first season breeding. So while I've been waiting in my thermostat I left em with mom. They have been there 5 days. 3 of them were flat on my newspaper in the tub. One angled upward laying on them. The 1 looks ok now. The other three look semi translucent and when I light them its kinda blueish but I still see a couple veins. So I pulled the snake, separated the good and bad eggs put em in substrate and back in the tub with mom to keep temp and humidity up but off the newspaper. So I need some opinions on if a 4 of these still look viable or not. There is no mold. Thoughts?

That substrate does look too wet. When you squeeze it, doesn't water drip out? Vermiculite should be barely moistened, so when you squeeze it it clumps together but doesn't drip.

My rule for eggs is that if they're not rotten or smelling, I keep incubating. I've heard too many stories of people throwing out "bad" eggs just to find babies crawling around in trash a day or two later.

It is not to wet. It does not drip when squeezed. Remember though that for the first 6 days the mother was incubating them and it they were just sitting on the newspaper in the tub. I think that is the issue. Now that they are on the appropriatly damp vermiculite I am hoping they are ok. And they do not smell good...thats for sure. But they almost look a hair better since I got them in vermiculite 12 hours ago.

Personally, I dont think the newspaper has anything to do with it. I had a female lay on newspaper while I was on vacation this season and they were perfect when I got back.

Id really keep an eye on them. Make sure they dont start smelling.
