In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I also feel bad that I haven't made any contributions to this site (I'm just tight on money now, I'll be paying by june). I really like the idea of the Fauna Mentor Program brought up by lucille.
Don't hold back on posting just because you can't (or don't want to) contribute right now. As a registered member, you are part of the Fauna community and welcome to post in the forums.
I saw that post about the mentor program, and agree that it sounds like a good idea. Hopefully, (if it gets started) people will take advantage of it.

im sorry harald.....im one of the ones that didnt vote.....but frankly its because i do post..hehe.......but when i first came to fauna..i didnt know of all the forums/rooms..just of the snake ones..and particularly hognose....and that one (to me) isnt THAT active.and i posted threads couple times and got ingnored or it was reallllly slow..so i left for a while...but then i came back and discovered the whole new world of things outside the hog room.haha.....and now its like a 2nd.......or 3rd home :)

I chose other as well. I do most my posting over at Cornsnakes.com. Fauna is a great resource i have used it to acquire animals and to sell some. The BOI is an invaluable resource for those who use it for its intended use and not to jump on bandwagons or start flaming others for their opinions.

The cornsnake forum here doesn't get allot of attention but i know TripleMoonsExotic is trying to help create attention and i have tried to visit and post when i can.

Fauna is a bit overwealming when your intrests aren't as large as the site you tend to focus on one or two areas and ignore the others. This is the first time i ever noticed there was a feedback forum and I've been lurking since may of 05 with a whopping 15 posts.

I have lurked more then post but I have posted more in the last few weeks then ever. Still a little scared to post in case I make someone mad over something.

Dana, jump on in. Looks like you've been a member for quite some time. There is a welcome forum, you can post there and let us know a little bit about you and your interests. You can also go to the forums where you have interests, and post your experience, and/or questions. Unless you say you are a sponser of Rattlesnake roundups, or that you do venomoid surgeries in your garage, I don't think anyone will get mad at you.

mostly a lurker. I love herps but dont have many, just a handful and dont breed either so unless I have a specific problem I dont post much. But I really do love reading and looking...

Ive been a member of fauna for a while now, but I'm not a very big poster. I am on here just about every day, reading posts of various subforums, but I dont usually post unless I have a specific problem or question i want answered. Or if I have a cool pic I just wanna share. Im the same way with almost every forum I am a member of- I love reading posts, i just dont ever feel like I have much to say most of the time.

its nothing against Fauna, or any other forum. i LOVE online pet forums, i learn the most about the animals I keep by reading them. Fauna is definately one of my favorites. :)

I feel exactly the same a lot of the time. I should have included this in my original response. Sometimes I just love to read about reptiles and see what is going on, even if it has nothing to do with my reptiles

I go to 5-6 sites each day I hardly ever post on any of them, I do read all the info I can at them ,and here, really like here lots of good info, will I ever post much guess not , will I keep coming here you bet, did I vote sure did

To be honest, I really don't remember signing up. I decided to take a look on the BOI for Monster Cages, as I heard about a bad experience with them on a forum I frequent and post in every day. That'd be www.redtailboas.com. I'm usually content to read, but if I have something to say that hasn't been said I'll post it. I never really even explored the forums here except the BOI one or two times. I usually go straight to the classifieds.

I can see this place being a help to me, as I plan to begin breeding boas in three or four years. A place like this with a lot of breeders will be a great help to me. If you haven't guessed, I'm a boa person. I'm not too into the localities or locality cross morphs (like Sunset, any BCC's [although they are beauties], nic morphs, salmontines etc.). Right now I have two 2 year old boas, and I'm going to be getting a third within the next month or so. 1.0 salmon (Rich Ihle produced, purchased from Ryan Homsey) and a 0.1 (using a semi-accurate sexing technique...PM me if you want details on it) normal given to me by my step brother who bred his boas a couple years ago. I'll probably post pics of them tonight.

That's a sufficient post, right? :p

Well, since you asked...

To be completely honest with you, until I read this thread I had no idea that I was even able to post (that should show you how much I pay attention, and about how much I know about computers).
I remember there was a "change" made to this web-site a while back, and for some reason I had it stuck in my head that unless you were a paid member, you could do nothing at this site but read it. I had made a few posts in the past (2, I think), but just never tried again because I had it stuck in my head that I couldn't.
Also, I've been out of the industry for about the past 10 years; I don't own anything, and won't be able to until I have enough money for a down payment on a place (you know, a place where I can keep what I want, instead of what the landlord says I can keep. Soooo sick and tired of the landlord!!). So, needless to say, the industry has changed so much in the past 10 years that I mostly come here to catch-up on what I've missed, and to try and keep current.
It may be a few years before I'm "back on my feet" again, but I can assure you that once I am, there will be no getting rid of me!

I'm az-gunner and I'm a lurker

I typically don't post much. When I'm new to a board/forum, I'll post a bit more. I do it to establish that I have a genuine interest in the board/forum and it's contents. Basically, I don't want to be mistaken for a troll.

I usually have a bunch of newbie questions, to help me get the "feel" of the site. Once settled in, I tend to have a "fly on the wall" approach. There are many people here that are far far far more knowledgeable than I, on herps/fauna. Newbies have a tendancy to need correcting and/or educating. Though no big deal for some, I hate being corrected. I'd rather wait for someone else to ask my ??, so a pro can answer it. That way someone else can get corrected.

If I have ?? I'll ask. Otherwise, I don't chat much.

This forum tends to put me off slightly. No one has done anything wrong, yet with the Membership Level Chart you never know what you can or can't do without checking. Have just been watching how others are treated before becoming a contributing member. In the past I have came across to many forums where it seems only "the good ole boys "are welcome. Haven't been here long enough to decide if it is right for me.

This is my first post and I agree with what blu mongoose said. I have lurked here off and on for a long time and the only reason I registered was because there were some good people on here that I could really learn from. But they are not here anymore so I doubt I will be posting much.

Let me say that i felt at one point the same way about this forum. However, in the past year, my view of this forum has changed a lot and I genuinely feel that everyone is welcome here. Theres even a giant Welcome forum at the top of the screen! I do a lot of reading here, but when i post, i never feel unwelcome.

Dont be too sure that all of the good people are gone. I feel that some of the people with lots of info to offer were lost for good reasons, specifically, Wes aka "Wilomn". But there are plenty of experts here, one of whom i'd like to mention is Harald, aka hhmoore, he's great. There are also many of us who have a moderate amount of skill who can learn a lot but still offer great input.

I have been a lurker for quite sometime but it's not like I never post, heck one of my recent posts got moved when it really should not have so I'll just lurk again.

I believe you are referring to this thread that you posted in the Leopard Gecko Discussion Forum:

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81889

Contrary to your opinion, I did move it to the correct forum for such postings.
