In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So I'm working on getting a tegu and I found a breeder that I am going to purchase one from. The tegus he is saleing range from 12 in to 32 in. I can't find a decent awnser online to find an appropriate size cage for a 32 inch tegu. Can y'all help me please?

6 foot by 3 foot 4 foot high. The height is to allow for substrate and some distance from the basking lamps.

I would have to agree. These lizards grow fast and are active so require a bit of room. You could start with a smaller enclosure (4/5ft long) but it would be a waste of money because the tegu would outgrow it within a very short time.

well fast is relative i guess, hah!
We got our two Argentines at four to six weeks old and after 14 months and they are about 18" and 14" respectively.. They started in a 36 by 24 by 36.
Having extra height really helps. Alot of these guys love to just burrow down as far as possible and pass out for hours on end. The more substrate we put in, the deeper one of our little guys would burrow!

Just figure on either 1 replacing the cage every 6 to 12 months, OR just building for the reptiles max size right off the back. in my opinion the first way is ALOT more fun and every time you build a cage you get better at it as well as developing a new trove of ideas for the next one. Which, if you are new to building cages, could be alot better in the long run for both you and the tegu. But mind you, it is quite a bit more expensive and time consuming.
Alot of people will criticize replacing the cage every few months, but then again alot (not all, just a generalization, relax folks) of the people who scream bloody murder about not building full sized off the get go, tend to have ugly cages or store bought cages!
