In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Argentine Boa Help

*claps hands at Miss Tuniwha* Well said! (and I'm glad to know that someone else doesn't think the eye issue is retained eye caps.)

Psone, I think everyone would agree that people here have been polite and are only concerned about your snakes. Its too bad that you're sensitive enough to be offended by the suggestions made. I hope that you're taking them into consideration in spite of how you've responded here. We all love snakes here and are only trying to help you do what's the best for them, coming from a collective endless history of experience. Wouldn't you rather learn from someone else's mistakes than your own?

Thats true but i didnt like the guys attitude besides the point i will take care of my snakes so i dont need anyone sitting around thinking i am going to let my snakes die or something like that, also i have got a lot of helpful advice form people on here and i think them for that, but i dont need someone that thinks they know it all to act like that.but i have been doing a lot of research on things and ready a lot of forums on boas so i am good to go Thanks to everyone on here for there time,

If you think Rick was flaming you, you should have seen some of the responses I deleted before I managed to choke out the I posted above....
Bottom line is you don't seem to have much of a clue, and neither your research or your thinking seems to be helping much...especially not your thinking.
you said:
i am thinking that since there like almost 2 differant snakes they may not mate but i coul dbe wrong

Rick is one of many here that puts the health & well being of the animals above all else. I certainly can't fault him for that.
You, on the other hand, have been on here whining that you are more concerned about the vet bill than your animal, and disregarding the input of people far more knowledgeable than yourself. Rick's comment WAS actually a pretty nice way of passing along that message. If you were insulted by it, tough....you should still take a few minutes to think about what he said.

Yer clueless. I'll wager I know a whole lot more than you about Boa Constrictor, but I'll be the first to admit I far from know it all. I been keeping Boa Constrictor since I was 10 years old. That's 30 years Bud. And I learn new stuff every day. Don't think you know so much that it inhibits your ability to learn something new.

The mind is like a parachute. It works much better when open.

God I love that quote. :D

Rick,

I think he is challenging you to a dance off. Except its on snake knowledge. Let me know when it goes down so I can send money to a bookie in Vegas. I know where the odd lie in favor of.

Heath,

Remember who your audience is. In the bucket of knowledge you and I are but drops, many here are a lot more then that. You set yourself up for the responses you got when you showed a level of knowledge on the lower side then added attitude to it.

For example, its been known (and done) for years that the boa subspecies can be cross bred. Searching on stuff to become informed is often better then posting for that knowledge. You also would come across as someone who has least taken the time to do some searching beforehand.

Saves everyone time along with often a better answer then that coming from someone who may take 15 seconds to type out a quick answer on a particular matter.

When dealing with those who do have more knowledge then you in whatever subject, best to come armed with as much knowledge as you can beforehand. It saves so much time on both parties.

Tell me This,

Snakes have babies all the times in the wild and they dont go to the vet.
i dont know what your trying to get at here but i think you should go flame someone else, cause i take care of my snakes very well,

and like i said i do have other species of snakes i know when somethings wrong with one of my snakes. and you must not understand i take my pets to the vet.
i have called about five vets already and i amthinking about this one in parma,

so if your going to leave messages like that i recommend not leaving any cause it makes you look like a Flamer Goodbye.

Says you? You make an impulse purchase and get upset when those with experience set you straight? Anyone worth their salt WOULD NOT have bought more snakes on top of a questionable problem child without proper caging much less proper quarantine.

Where do you do your research that says its OK to throw them together , piss away quarantine procedures until you get around to building a cage?

If you couldn't afford a vet for the Argentine why did you buy another boa?

You do realize that anything wrong with the Argentine is now a health issue with the other one right?

I've found Rick to be quite knowledgeable about boas and you should take his advice. Super nice guy too. If you thought he was flaming ya wait till I get started over obvious owner ignorance .

Everyone here has been telling you the same thing, so leave off calling any one a 'flamer'.

That's true. Snakes also die of infection, parasites, and any other myriad events in the wild, and die due to birth complications in the wild as well.

However, snakes in the wild do NOT live in confined, close quarters (ie, a cage) with other snakes, with no opportunity to escape from them or the diseases they may be carrying. YOU are putting them in that captive situation, so it's your responsibility to care for them appropriately.

You say you take your other pets to the vet and got mad as a result... then why are you expressing so much concern about a $40 vet visit fee? Dogs and cats require office visit fees as well. If your other pets go to the vet, surely you must know this. Some people feel reptiles are more disposable or less deserving of vet care than fuzzy, cuddly pets.

Asking lots of questions here, and then dragging your feet about finding and taking your snake to the vet, complaining about money, and then getting another snake to boot without getting the first one's health problems corrected, shows that you're not acting responsibly.

That's my point of view. I don't know it all, either - no one does. But if you ask for advice, you'll get some. Don't whine when you get constructive criticism instead of the sympathy you may be looking for.

Everyone here tried to word advice as nicely and politely as possible. I think at the point that you got another snake without taking care of the other one's business first, the politeness was irritated out of some of us.

Please, find caging for the new snake and take at least the argentine to the vet. Until you do that, you're likely not to find a whole lot of cheerful help here.

After reading through this thread, the one thing that jumps out at me, is psone doesn't seem to have the maturity level to accept advice or criticism. Without the ability to listen and learn from others, he is offering the animals in his care, just barely enough to survive. I try to give my animals the tools necessary to thrive, not just survive. I.E. heat, humidity, food, and some place to hide from it all. Housing snakes together is never a good idea, unless you are breeding. If you can't afford another cage, you can't afford another snake. Most of the people who have responded to this post seem to have the general well being of your animals in mind. Take their advice and give your snakes a chance to live nice long lives. -john-
