Here is a new topic...how many people out there use an incubator and how many people let the females do their thing? What are your success rates and what do you use? (its 11:45 here on a saturday night...I am BORED entertain me:) )

valley falls, huh? there have been some pretty cool animals out in that neck of the woods (I know, because I brought them with me when I was visiting family). anyhow - I think you will find that most people go for "artificial" incubation. reasons being: more consistent temperatures, easier to maintain constant humidity, ability to get females feeding sooner. (just out of curiousity - was this question just for entertainment, or are you waiting for eggs?)

I have tried it both ways

With a large female albino i had, i let her incubate them, i had 25 eggs and all 25 hatched.. i have also done it with artificial incubation with 100% hatch rate,so i guess it is a matter of opinion.. I like the artificial better because i feel like i can control the temps and humidity better.. Good luck!! Mike

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Shoot me an email and let me know how much for a couple Angolans girls when they hatch?

I'm getting tired of waiting for these eggs. seems like it has been forever since POS... making me think they aren't coming :>(

I like to pick out fine pieces of grass and straw and contruct a beautiful nest then I sit on the eggs myself for 55-65 days until they hatch and bite my a**! Oh, wait... no I don't. I have incubators. Sorry. Al, go to bed.

Artificial here. Hovabators.

Main reasons: more control plus bringing the females up to speed sooner.

Regards.

Crikey! I just snapped this pic of this ball that is so maternal that she apparently is trying to incubate a 3 lb emu egg!

People sell them as a novelty type item. They drill a hole in it to empty it out then sell them. They are rock hard and very interesting. After giving this thread more thought I have decided to let my boas maternal incubate their young this year. ^_^
