In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Atlanta show vendors

Well at least people know the truth about him now. I've always liked Tony as a person. But lost a lot of respect for him after his last Raleigh show. He tried to convince me that it was his best Raleigh show ever, when in fact it was his worst. Only around 5000 through the door & way too many empty vendor booths. Then telling all the lies about Cathy & making it public only added to my lack of respect to him. What really got me was that some very smart people actually believed his BS. They actually turned on me because I questioned his business tactics & honesty. No, Cathy never had a show that brought 15,000 attendees through the door. But all her shows have been advertised & promoted honestly. He had 75 vendors listed for the Greenville show, and we all know that only about half of those vendors had registered. He lied about the advertising as well. Some of the attendees didn't even know about the Greenville show until they picked up one of his half page fliers that Cathy allowed to be distributed at her show. I'll no longer be vending his shows. I've had enough of it. I kept returning as a vendor hoping things would improve, when in fact it only worsened. All I can do at this point is wish him the best of luck in the future.

:D The last time that I saw Roark, I thought he had a sparkle in his eyes. After closer examination, I realized that it was just the way that the lights were reflecting off his grey hair. :hehe:
Don't cry Roark. For you are like a fine wine- you get better & better with age.

The Atlanta Show

Although I do not visit the threads, after there had been a rumor that a show had been canceled in the past which was not, I posted on our website that if there ever was a situation where a show had to be canceled or postponed, I would list the information on my website and in newsgroups. I did not imagine the situation would happen but felt it was important to have a policy established.

It is with deep regret that I unfortunately have to announce that the Atlanta Reptile Show which is scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2005 has been postponed.

I heard of an email from the venue and could dispute the facts, as can Sandy Quinn of Reptiles Magazine who spoke with Brian Quirk, the Executive Director Friday evening at length. However, this is a mute issue because as the show director, I am responsible and the therefor the individual that should be blamed and is responsible and take full responsibility for the show not ocuring this weekend . I am sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused any vendor or attendee and I mean it very sincerely.

I apologize for this posting being brief and will followup on our website tomorrow with more information and details. It is such so that we can complete various avenues to inform everyone including labeling, stuffing, mailing out by this afternoon letters to 4000 people on our mailing list which is very labor/ time intensive.

Please check our website, www.reptileandexoticanimalshow.com tommorow for the new show information. If you have any questions or concerns, I request you give us until tomorrow so we can concentrate on informing everyone and updating the website with the new information and then feel free to email [email protected] or call me. My office and cell phone are both listed on the contact page of the website.

A big THANK YOU to so many of the vendors that I spoke with today that were so kind and willing to help in what has been the worst two days of my life.

Very sincerely,

Tony Cueto

Hey Tony,
I appreciate your honesty on this matter. You have gained some of the respect back. I wish you the best of luck on your new Atlanta show.

Hey Audrey, Chuck, and others
Congratulations on your most thoughtful posts. There is much Kharma in the air. I remember 3 cardinal rules:

1) Respect for self.
2) Respect for others
3) Responsibility for ones own actions.

There has been much animosity displayed these past few months among promoters. Some warranted and some not. I as many others would like to see all of us join together in a spirit of forgiveness and unity to resolve these petty and wasteful time consuming matters. It would be easy for any of us to fix blame and point out wrongdoing. At this time I would like us to fix instead the problem. In this spirit I am declaring a truce, yes a cease fire amongst the troops in a sincere (hopefully not sincerely wrong) effort to bring peace so that vendors, show promoters, and attendees can operate under the tenants of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To this end I ask that all of us vendors/promoters/attendees alike support whomever/whenever for whatever reasons/choices we make without the ridicule or undue influence of others. There has often been much restraint, reason, and kindness demonstrated in this forum and I for one would like to see that continue. There are surely hurt feelings to be soothed and justifiable frustration and anger to be addressed. I intend to join a fragmented group of wonderful people together in a common cause to represent the reptile industry and showcase us in a professional manner. An undertaking of this magnitude requires much deliberation, cooperation, and the help of many. I am asking for that help and am depending on that help to achieve success. There will be many triumphs and failures, major and minor, for us all. Whether mercy or consideration is merited or not I ask for all to help in the reparation process. I am asking for the good of this industry for all of us to exercise restraint now that things are out in the open. I am going to work diligently to bring promoters together in that spirit. Any help at all is appreciated. Thank you......

Hey Roark,
I've already made my peace with Tony. And you're right(for once :)
This is not only the season for Thanksgiving, but forgiving as well.

Hey Roark,
I couldn't agree with you more. I hope know we can all work together or at least do our own part to better this hobby for the enthusiasts, vendors, and promoters and strive for the professionalism this hobby so desperately needs if it is to thrive. Let us all remember why we are in this hobby and use that as the tool to strive and keep this hobby going in the right direction. How can we expect the legislatures to endorse this hobby we are all so passionate about if we cannot even get along with one another?
~Todd

Roark, Cricket, Tony, would you guys like me to go onto price line and get you a room? Enough already! You all are acting like hippies at Woodstock. Can’t we all just get along. Free love man!

Anyway, just a reminder to all you guys that have already made arrangements to be off from work, etc to attend a reptile show. The Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham is on for Saturday. I have spoke to Terry and everything is a go over there. With the Atl show being a bust, I expect more venders then usual. I will be there, hope to see some of you.

Hi all! I'm relatively new to posting here on Fauna (although I've been lurking and gleaning good information since July when I got my first ball python).

Anyway, I had planned to attend the show this weekend, and I was told by someone else that it was being moved to downtown.

Today I got an e-mail from them that the dates have been changed and the location moved. I went to the website and it's for December 3rd and 4th and will be held at the Cobb Galleria.

I had not seen anyone post that yet, so I wanted to let folks know when and where it would be now.

This would be my first show that I've attended, I was hoping to find a vendor to buy a set of sexing probes from. I really hope there's still a good turn out, but I'm a little hesitant to spend the money to go in if there aren't going to be many vendors.

Yes, it has been rescheduled & moved. The website is currently being updated. Check it out at:
http://www.reptileandexoticanimalshow.com/ga/index.html
As far as the vendor turnout, you'll just have to go & see. With the date change, some vendors may not be able to make it. However, on the same token, some vendors that could not make the original date may be available for this one. I personally know some of the vendors that will be there. It should be worth your while to at least give it a shot. You'll find a great variety of reptiles & supplies. And I'm sure that after reading your post, there will be probe sets available.
Don't forget that Christmas is only 3 weeks after the show. Perfect opportunity to buy friends & loved ones wonderful, unusual gifts.

Thanks Audrey! I noticed your from NC, I was raised in Jamestown and went to UNC-CH before moving to Atlanta area. Hi fellow TarHeel!

Anyway, I will definitely have to check it out then. My plans were to buy a probe set and hoped that perhaps someone there could show me the proper way to probe and then I would also take my probe kit with me to the vet with my little guy and have him teach me as well. (After all, I'd love to know if he's actually a she!)

That way I can also be on the look out for nice surrendered animals at local pet shops and identify if they are female or not. I hope to get into breeding on a hobbyist level in another few years while I continue to learn all that I can in the process. But of course, I'd like to start adding some females. By the time I'm ready to breed, all the new additions will have gone through quarantines and had time to fatten up over a few years.

Ooops, sorry for the OT ramble. I'll hush now and keep my eye on that website to make sure there aren't additional last minute changes.

Ok, Audry, you have my attention. ha ha. I hear there are a ton of people who are looking to get breaderd dragons over in Birmingham on Saturday. I think you and Amanda should load up and head over! =)

Robin, I am a dealer for Midwest. They make the best equipment in the business. Go to their website and decide what you want. I can order them for you. if I don’t get down that way before, I can have them for you at the show and show you there how to probe. Its not very difficult. I am in Atlanta on a regular basis, so I could probably deliver them beforehand. The URL is www.Tongs.com if you didn’t know already.

Thanks Chuck,
But I really need some time off from the shows. I've been all up & down the east coast from Hamburg Pa. to Fla. doing them back to back for about 6 months or so. And I've even done the Birmingham show before. That show is great for the local people, but wasn't big enough to make me want to drive 9 hours one way again.(And for Terry Heuring, I'm not knocking you. I'll be back.) I promised myself that after Greenville, I'd take a much needed break. My next show is in Hamburg again, December 3rd. This has to be the second biggest show in the east, next to Daytona. But this is only a one day show.
Yes, believe it or not. The shows can run you down if you do enough of them.

Thank you for the link, I was not aware of them. I had been looking at www.beanfarm.com so far. I'll take a look and let you know!

We drive to Chattanooga for weekend get aways a few times a year, so you're not that far from me!

Thanks so much and I'll let you know about the probes! Is there one that you would recommend for a new person coming into the hobby? If I didn't specify before, I've been bitten HARD by the ball python bug!

Cricket, I am relieved. I was afraid you would actually show up and be on the website Sunday morning saying, Chuck misrepresented the Birmingham show. Ha ha ha.

Robin, you are welcome at my home anytime. I actually live in Kensington, GA. I have a collection of about 130 snakes right now. We can probe till your heart’s content. On the probe set, Midwest offers a few options, and this is not a sales pitch, I would go with the most expensive set. http://www.tongs.com/shop/index.php?GrID=40&PrID=122 this is the only set I know with ridged handles. I only use my own saliva or water as a lube for probing. On all other probes I have difficulty maintaining a gripe for the “smooth” “slow” spin that is necessary for proper probing. This is the set I have, after you have used them, you would not want to use any other. I am going to do my last order of the year in two weeks, so let me know. If you make it up before then, I have another set they offer, you can compare….but I am sure you would want the 8 pc. Also, if you are free on Saturday, I will be at the Birmingham show. I will have my set with me, as I am looking for some certain gender animals. You can take a look at them then and help me probe a few there. its about a two hour drive for you, but probably worth it. Since Tony had to postpone his show, I am expecting a bigger vender turn out for Terry’s.
