In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Attention Ron Billingsley Customers!

i purchased a total of 4 WC "Gravid Ball pythons from him(Ron Billingsly) and what was supposed to be a CBB male breeder. 1 was not gravid at all all were covered in tics mites, and full of worms ad parasites. His exact words to me were I guarantee every female I send is clean, healthy and full of eggs.
Ron
not so the male and other female refuse to eat i expect that from that WC female but not what was supposed to to be a CBB male breeder.1 female died just a few days after receiving her .He will not return emails. does any one know were he is

Ron's a very upstanding respectable guy and I have bought from many times. If your going to make some accusations on the BOI, at least make your posts legible and include all the nitty little details and dates. Otherwise it sounds like a lot of gibberish.

This is a serious thing your bringing to the table, so try to be respectable and include time lines, any pertinent documents and evidence.

In fact, you should make a completely different thread so as not to bog down this thread with something unrelated to this incident over a year ago. Especially when it was figured to be no problem at the end.

I would just like to know how to contact him. He has been a great guy to work with unfortunately i received some not so healthy animals and need to contact him.

You made a purchase from him, but don't have any contact information?

You can PM or email him via fauna - his username is Ron Billingsley
or email him directly - [email protected]

Connie, you are new around here so you might want to do some reading on some of the past great guys that turned out to be not so great before you jump on someone. Not saying your opinion doesn't matter but the way you jumped on Dawn was uncalled for.

There may be something to this or it could be nothing but we wont know anything by running this girl off as you've tried to do.

Dawn if you have a problem why don't you give us the information, start with the dates this happened, what happened and include any emails you have . Randy

Right, my post may have been straight forward and unclassy, but in no way was I trying to run her off. I think the BOI always asks for the most evidence and clear responses to figure out any issues.

Creating a new thread is a good idea in my opinion, but if that is not how the BOI works, then my bad.

I'll just let the masters do the typing. ;)

Is this a re-hash of the same post a year ago? - comment

If this is the same issue that was put up on the board a year ago, I have a comment that was accurate then - still accurate today. Flame me if you want (I got flamed last time); but when the facts finally came out a year ago, I was right on the money ;)!

All BP imports carry ticks/mites - period.

The seller should have cleaned them up before selling them - that would have avoided this fiasco -- but maybe he thought he had. Stuff happens.

The buyer took the snake to a vet to get cleaned up - a less than knowledgeable vet with a penchant for the dramatic. The vet sent the little critters to a lab and notified the government. Not because he had identifed the critters as specifically the arthropods which carried heart water disease, but because he (by his own admission) didn't know the difference! Uncle Sam's involved now, investigation, quarantine, big mess.

My stand at the time was that I would switch vets - I wouldn't mind a knowledgeable vet doing the right thing, but if this vet doesn't know the difference and feels that he needs to bring down the strong arm of the government every time he sees a bug HE can't identify....I think he needs to qualify himself to tell the difference or admit that he is unqualified to treat herps. I don't care how much you like him as a person, he should know what he is doing before he goes off the deep end. Think about it - given his modus operandi, he would have the feds called in for EVERY BP import in the US (not to mention a few CB snakes -- we all know they can pick up parasites too).

I was flamed royally last year for suggesting that the real lesson learned here was to select a better qualified vet - one who will know what he is doing before he pulls the pin on the grenade. Turns out, I was right -- the lab he sent the parasites to reported that the critters in question were the everyday sort - no worries, no disease threat. But the pandora's box has already been opened.

If this is the same issue in question back then, and the facts remain as stated, I stand by my original assertion - the vet is an idiot.

I bought a WC girl from Ron this season - after some problems with shipping she finally arrived to me - I had ordered one of his select ones that he posted on KS what I had gotten was a rather blah normal several hundred grams less than the one I'd bought and COVERED in ticks.

When I contacted Ron his response was that if the snake was less than 2000 grams I could send it back for a new one. I'd previously made it very clear that I wanted a specific looking snake that would lend itself to future projects - he'd even sent me several snapshots of his selects for me to choose from - but the best that he could do was for me to reship a gravid female in the dead of winter for a replacement. I passed I'm not that cruel.

After she layed I posted pictures of the clutch on Kingsnake and had a few people contact me to see how I was getting mom acclimated - upon further discussions I'd found that there were several people that Ron had pulled the same bait and switch with. All got tick infested animals and I even found one other person that bought the same snake I had - Ron had even offered a free "select" female to someone if she paid shipping. What a guy

Ron was real nice and helpful - until something went wrong - when I called him on the bait and switch he stopped returning emails. Go figure.

I wouldn't recommend Ron or his gravids to anyone.

Wow... I guess I really stuck me foot in my mouth there, *bashes head on desk*.

I'll admit it has been a long time since I've bought from him at Taylor, almost a year now. But I guess I do owe apologies to Ravensgait and Dawn. People do change, as evidenced in Tosha and Dawn's experiences. apologies apologies apologies apologies ten fold.

I had only ever thought he was a good guy from our dealings, my how times have changed. Connie

Connie - I wouldn't worry about it - Ron seemed like a great guy on the forums and stuff - he does come across as someone that honestly cares - whether he is and just hit a rough patch or has just been good at hiding it this whole time - I don't know. I mean I've had excellent dealings with the likes of Tony Hurt and Wyatt (TW) but those were a couple of years ago and now I wouldn't touch either of them with a 10 foot pole. You live and learn.

I do hope that Ron cleans up his act - not spirals like the rest of them.

WC Balls have ticks. This is a known fact. Gravid Ball Pythons do not eat as well.

If you going going to buy WC gravid animals atleast have the decency to know the care and maintenaince that goes into a WC Ball.

Ignorance is no excuse. Especially when you are buying WC gravid females to rush things into getting a clutch of eggs.

Corey

Cory?? here's what she said """"the male and other female refuse to eat i expect that from that WC female but not what was supposed to to be a CBB male breeder "

Seems she understood all that , or are you responding to someone else's comment?? Randy

One does expect ticks on WC animal - except when the person selling them prides himself on having cleaned WC animals and outright says that he has treated them for external parasites.

Ticks can show up months later on a "clean" animal. You can also have a "clean" female with no external ticks lay eggs and their be ticks on the eggs.

WC Balls have ticks. Nothing to get bent out of shape on.

Adult males don't eat in the breeding season either. 3/4 of my adult balls are not eating right now. That is just how they are.......

I am the original poster of this thread, and if it makes any difference I can say that the original problem has been cleared up and Ron stayed in contact both via e-mails and on here.

I have not done business with him since (nor have I acquired any new balls since then), so I cannot vouch for his current business practices. If there are current issues to be had with him then I also suggest opening a new thread only because this is 24 pages or so of reading about an issue that has been cleared up. Many people do not want to read a novel in order to get up-to-date.

I'm not sure why people are pushing the Start A New Thread idea...once upon a time it was clearly stated in the rules that existing threads were to be used whenever possible. I can't seem to locate the rules anymore, so maybe they have gone by the wayside...but it is still common practice to add to what is already here. Besides, when a person starts a new thread after posting in an existing one, somebody usually gives them crap about it. Its here, and there is no reason for her to take her issue elsewhere.

Too late now, but I would have to say that when possible, a new thread is not only preferred, but there is a long precedent here for new threads. If someone wanted to give someone a hard time for it, so what ? The overwhelming downside of resurrecting an old thread for a new problem is that someone researching a reputation has to read 100-200 posts to find out there was a second or third issue involved. Harald, I agree with you that what is done is done, but otherwise what you call "common practice" is not such in my experience, and is advice that does not serve the purpose of the new complaint well, IMMHO. Might be a good Feedback topic, if ever I am so moved.
