    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just received an e-mail from this guy Alvaro Castillo, saying that he was a NEW importer and would have about 3000 farm raised columbian imports very soon.

Does anyone know him, or of him. TYIA...

I've gotten the same e-mail from this guy.

I am guessing it's an aol thing? I would just be cautious until more is known about him.
 
I've gotten the same emails from him, too...so, you know me!! I called him just now...he seems like a really ne guy....he sells to the larger wholesalers ...50-100 lots....he works it just like the "futures market"...depending on how many are brought in, that sets the price...so, unless on the off chance he has any left after the "big boys", then we might have a shot at a 10-lot for cheaper than most...but, don't hold your breath....they'll be gobbled up quickly!
I also asked him how many of these emails he sent out?? He told me he sent them to the people he "thought" would be interested in them...yeah, half the population of the US, probably! lol ....Neil

John...You crack me up! But...you happen to be right!! (go figure, huh? lol), you can't always tell over the phone....but, you can get a good "feel" for the person by the questions you ask him...and the manner in which he answers...if he answers your questions without hesitation, well...he's either very well-rehearsed, or he is for real....as with anything...if you "talk" to enough people during the course of a day, a week, a year, a decade, a half century....you pick up on these things....it's a lot easier than you think?? Sure, there will be some "true" con-arists out there who know exactly what to say and when to say it, but, they're few and far between....all I'm saying is that, "Knowledge is power"....if I was seriously interested in buying a lot of Boas from him....I would call him first...then I would call some of the bigger wholesalers to get "their" opinion....then, if I still had questions...I'd probably come here....in that order....Neil

OK, John...if you want to be a pessimist all your life...sure, "maybe" some of them would have the, "Would Macy's tell Gimble's" attitude...but, "most" of the wholesalers that I know (and I know a lot of them), are very honest people! They've got to be! They aren't looking to make the last penny they can with every single person they deal with?? That's just not good business...If anybody comes in my store and asks me about any store that I know...I will "always" recommend they stop in there to see the place for themselves, heck...just a couple of days ago I sent someone to Josey's cause he wanted to give me a deposit for a tortoise and I didn't have one at the time (obviously, I could have gotten it within days), so, I knew Josey did have one, so I called her, told her I was sending him over, and then gave him directions....I'm assuming he got what he wanted and everybody's happy! You don't think that customer will keep a good thought in his brain about me?? I didn't lose anything....really....
Sorry, back on subject...."most" wholesaler and people in this business are onest and they really don't mind recommending other businesses....as you said...just look at this site??? It's full of that type of thing....I'd rather think optimistically....Neil

Farm raised, hmmm, so born in S. America, somewhere, and imported in huge numbers.   To me, that is kind of like importing burms, why? with all the breeders here in the States, shouldn't we have enough CB or not??   Just asking.
