    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here's my albino Burmese -- she's a beauty and is just going to get prettier as she grows. Albino Burms have always been among my favorite snakes: there are lots of beautiful reptiles, but few that are as memorable as a big Albino Burm.

Are you getting a permit for that little beauty? Governor Pataki has passed the bill, which bans all pythons, and boas, unless you have a permit, which allows it...

At present, we're keeping Ayida in Boston with a friend. (Burms are legal in Massachusetts, although you need a permit for Amethystines, Retics and African Rocks).

We're going to be moving in the next few months and will be relocating to either Massachusetts or New Jersey. (In Jersey, as I understand it, I will need to get a permit/license for Ayida, but it's not extremely difficult).

I currently live in the five boroughs of NYC, where Burms were already illegal. Apparently some genius decided that Burmese Pythons are more dangerous than ill-trained pit bulls. (For the record, I love pit bulls and used to own one ... but more people are injured by poorly-managed or bred Pits in any given day than by Burms in a decade).

If I understand the NY law correctly, it's now illegal to breed any member of the boidae family. I never realized that Ball Pythons could be wanton killers... but what do I know. ;)

Yeah, I'm in Mass now. They didn't write the law well.
I hate the NY thing, but a lot of people will still breed them. As I have read, it is still legal to own most of the small boidae...

The sad thing is that I would have no objection to a requirement that owners of Burms or other big snakes need a license. I think a lot of people buy cute little Burmese pythons without realizing that some day they will be cute BIG Burms. (Or they realize it, but don't understand exactly what's involved in caring for and housing a 10' or 15' snake). And because Burms are relatively cheap (I paid $125 for Ayida at the New Hampshire Reptile Expo, and could have bought a regular Burm for $75 or less), they become "disposable pets." Which is a real pity, since they're among the most beautiful and gentle of snakes if given adequate treatment and care.

Making sure that potential Burm owners knew what they were getting into and were able to provide proper care would go a long way toward making for happier Burms. Alas, it's easier to ban the "DANGEROUS REPTILES" than to lobby for their care and well-being. :(

Yeah, I am also not objected to permits for larger snakes. In Mass, you cant own Green Tree Pythons, or Emerald Tree Boas though, which I dont understand. They are out of the price range mostly for people who wouldn't care for them properly. They also dont get that large either...
