    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Yep. That's what the sign on the tank said at Slither and Swim petstore in West Haven CT today. :rolleyes:

I stopped in after work to get a few feeders and they had a green sign on the BP tank that said "Special - baby ball pythons $89.99 - het for spider".

I pointed out to the people there that spiders are dominant and there is no normal looking ball that could be a het for the trait. I explained they were misrepresented and the sign needs to be taken off the tank or changed to get rid of the het for spider part.

They told me they ARE het for spider and gave me a disgusted look. I said they are NOT het for spider since there is NO SUCH THING. I was then told that they bought them as het for spider and that is what they are going to sell them for. They are not changing the sign. :angry:

What a rip off.

They are totally misrepresenting these snakes and this is not the first time. Last year I pointed out that their $399.99 baby albino burms were not labyrinth albino burms like they had them advertised as.

I am so ticked right now. They jacked up the price (the "regular ones" are $49.99) by claiming they are something they are not. Someone who doesn't know any better is going to end up buying these thinking they are hets.
 
Perhaps print out a sheet of web address's so they can look into it themselves. And be sure to let them know, when the snakes don't produce spiders, they are on the hook for refunds, lawsuits etc...
 
hmmmm - wonder if they can produce paperwork, lol. Depending on your current frustration level, you could have a lot of fun with this one, Steve.
 
You have no idea. I was in a bad mood when I stopped in there but seeing that just pushed my buttons the worng way. I wanted to strangle someone.
I tried to explain it to them and got the "so what" response. They looked at me like I was speaking another language.
Then I get another reply to my ad today after I got home from there. That got deleted. I may just take a trip back to S&S tomorrow and pursue this matter. A fun way to unwind. LOL.
 
Steve - go back and discretely post your own sign (over theirs) that says "overpriced normal ball pythons - het for spider is a genetic impossibility". :rofl:

Just look up the petstore in google. get the number and call them. Simple as that.
You dont need to say where you read it, or who by. Just complain that you saw them, and that its impossible.
 
Oops. Go to vendor listings. Slither and Swim Pet Supplies.
 
They actually go to reptile shows and don't know any better?!?!?! That surprises me more than JUST a pet store. They have the exposure to know better. Maybe they are just trying to scam their store customers who also may not know better. Can you think they'd have the guts to bring those to the show??

They know better. This is just a way to charge more to unsuspecting customers. The would never try this stunt at a show.
I was in there today to see if it was removed. The sign still up but now the cage is right in front when you walk in. Can't miss it now and they still won't take it off or reword it.
Time to contact the BBB and complain about false advertising.

Sometimes complaints actually do work (not that I know who made the complaint :rolleyes: ).
Needless to say, the owner was NOT happy.
 
How someone could do that is just beyond me. I mean, I can understand if they themselves were misinformed or confused about it- that would just be an honest mistake. But if someone comes up and claims that their are no hets for spiders, if I was the owner, or worked thewre and that was said to me, i'd at least do more research on it to see who was right. I just don't see what one can get out of being purposly dishonest... I guess some people can stoop real low for money.

I am glad it is taken care of. I'd hate to spend money on something that is not what it is labeled as.
