In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Eggs??? :(

Garweft uses the same setup I use for my cham/beardie eggs. After my first failed (cham)clutch some years ago (likely due to my own ignorance) I began using plastic egg louvers for the eggs. They work perfectly and makes it easier to balance humidity and fresh air circulation.

Excllent photos, Matthew :)

I mix my vermiculite and perolite up with water, but mix it up on the dry side. It is damp, but not wet. After a few weeks, I usually add some water in one corner of the incubator box. I have never had to use paper towels or egg crates, although I did incubate with a plastic screen one year, just to try something different.

I do very close to what Garweft does~ but works even better if you use TWO peices of the plastic to hold the eggs a little higher in the container. You can buy that stuff at the hardware store and cut it for whatever size egg container you want. Cover the bottom plastic with water~ put the second piece of plastic in~ eggs on that~ eggs will be about 1/2" above water. Skip vermiculite mess all together. Cover nice and tight and in incubator. Sometimes water drips from the lid~ but it quickly runs down off the eggs to the water under the eggs~ never had a problem with it. Very high humidity~ no water on the eggs except an occasional drip that runs off in short order. Works well.

I agree with everyone else that those eggs look like they've taken on too much water.

For the mold, take a q-tip dipped in Listerine and gently wipe the mold off. The mild alcohol will kill the mold, but not harm the eggs.

I've had some really nasty eggs hatch out perfectly healthy hatchlings, so don't loose faith yet.

Definitely don't give up if you were able to candle them and see veins. I was about to throw away my 5 egg clutch from my spider. It was her first clutch and I'm not sure what happened, but her eggs were a little dimpled from day one. WAY before day 52 they were totally collapsed and I was not too happy, thinking that I was about to throw away what should have been a double co-dom, or two. 3 of the eggs did not make it, but 2 (even in their "disastrous state") held healthy babies. They've yet to come out of the eggs (I just cut them Sunday), but it looks like I ended up with 1 mojo and 1 spider mojo!

Just don't give up and good luck!!!! You never know 'til it's time! :)

Not looking good at all guys! I did everything right, I even change the Verm. because people said it was too damp but nothing helped, looks like only 2 will hatch at this point. The others are completely sunk in and almost flat. :(

Just let them keep going though Amanda. Even if you get two to hatch it's way better than none. Also I talked to a friend that has been breeding since 92, and he said he's seen eggs like that hatch.

Reality is that if they got too much water than they may drown in the egg, but there is a chance they could hatch.

Thanks guys, I'm keeping my fingers crossed too but I just don't see how a baby can grow and form in a flat shell :( I'll get pic's and wait the 23 days!

Pictures!

Here are some pic's I just took like 10 minutes ago!

Humidity is 70% and the temp is 89.5

I'm worried, I'll not get to hatch any babies at all. :(

Still have around 25 days of waiting and worrying!

two on left look like they are done the other three are really dehydrated at this point they should be nice and plump its not looking good give it untill 55 days then cut and see what ya look like. i wish i could say more.

It's the lighting and my camera, the Vermiculite is NOT that wet, it;s just a little damp. The humidity is only 70% and some of that is from that little cup of water.

They are in pure Vermiculite, nothing mixed with it lol..

I set the counter for 60 days, and there are 23 days left.

Amanda

The 2 on the left are deffinatley bad, the one in the middle isn't looking that great either, but the 2 on the left look like you might still have a chance at getting something out of them, Just keep doing what your doing and you might luck out Amanda.

Thanks Bob, as I said I'm trying and sure keeping my fingers crossed. I hate seeing them like that daily!

The one on the far left (Purple one) was red and purple when it came out..

Amanda

how mch vermiculite are you using i usually have three to four inches in the container but i also use larger tubs than the one you are using. i have seen some bad eggs hatch but never as bad as the ones on the left. i wish you all the best of luck and hope you get at least a couple little ones.
