Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

BAD experience WITH **RK REPTILES**

Jackie,

The Veileds that were sent to Mike were flawless when they left here.  They are the same animals that my other customers have purchased and have had no problems. I don't know what the problem is, but I do know I did not mis-represent anything on the animals. I do not mis-represent any of my animals in the slightest. If an animal is c.b. I tell them, if it is ltc I tell them, if it is fresh import I tell them. I do not need to misrepresent an animal and hide behind my terms at all.  If that were the case I would not have as many customers that are happy with me, my service, and my animals. The veileds he received were 3-4 weeks old when shipped to him. PERIOD.  As far as the dates I was referring to, if you look at all his post he says 3 died within 24 hours, well it was 2 days before he e-mailed and told me anyone had died.
And on the Stars no I did not notice the Abnormal scutes on the animals.  The abnormalities is so small unless you really look specifically for that you can't see them.  And as far as that person bitching about the striations not lineing up who the hell cares? No animal in wild or captive born has every striation that lines up perfectly with the others.  This has been a very good eye opening of 2 customers that are having "buyer remorse" of sorts and will never be happy.

Wow, Niel, please tell me that was a slip of the finger when you typed about cricket BONES!?!?  I know we've disagreed before and all, and I was gonna leave you alone, but damn man, CRICKET BONES?  How much pot did you smoke to get that jail term?  LOL

Now back to the thread at hand.  Rob you came through on your part of the deal.  Great wholesale price and live arrival.  You have the emails to prove it.  He even admitted you weren't lying in the other post.  Some people should just buy all their animals for Petland where you get a 7 day guarantee.  Granted the same chameleons would have been $49.99 each (on a good day), but hey they would have replaced all the ones that died (and still came out about oh $1000 bucks ahead).

Brian...come on, man...give me "some" credit??? I just used the word "bones" generically....I know it's an exoskeleton....but, it's easier to type "bones"! But...bones or exoskeleton...larger crickets have longer and tougher rear legs that "can" get lodged in a small veil.. My personal feeling is that if the Chameleon can't put the whole cricket in his mouth when he brings his tongue back...then the cricket is too big...
Sorry, Brian...I wasn't trying to mislead anyone, it was just easier for typing purposes....I guess I'll type in "long-hand" from now on..lol ....Neil

I just wanted to say that this is the first post that I have made and plan to have many more on any subject that I have knowledge  or strong opinions on. I know neither party but have had a similar situation. Here is the bottom line, anyone ordering wholesale items should realize that some animals will not make it period, it happens all the time even if people are not willing to admit it. I feel what happened here is more or less a simple matter of dehydration leading to the death of some of less dominate animals.  If you read most care guides for these chameleons it say's house them seperatly{ which I do not agree with 100 percent but none the less that is what most state.}  My point is that at that young of age they need to be sprayed with water a watched to see if they all drink at the very least three times a day.  Once one of these guys get dehydrated the end comes on very quickly. I know this because I breed veilds, Jacksons and for the last 2 years monkey tail skinks{very successful too I might add} But my whole point is that chameleons need water or thay will die at this young of age. I have had to use hydrolife many of time to keep these guys from droppin like flies myself. The gaurentee was written and verbally stated and the deal went through agreed upon by both parties, which means no one is at fault and it is just one of those things that happens with wholesale prices. Good luck to both parties as I am sure you can both get over this and move on and provide all of us with the A+ animals you all have already shown.  Jason Hinshaw

Rob,

This guy is too funny he is STILL trying to get free animals from you by asking you in a post and agreeing to pay shipping. LOL  He wants them so bad he is offering a public apology, basically cause he knows he is wrong.

If he is such the business man doesn't he know what a guarantee is, doesn't he set his own?  Most anyone I have done business with offers LIVE ARRIVAL!

Mike, but i guess he should make a special exception for you? LOL

Jackie, if you do not like the way Rob does business or his terms, or his site DON"T go there, and DON"T buy from him easy as that!
Rob, I too have been to your site and I do not believe it is too harsh, and Mike is just trying to make trouble for you, but It looks like you have good backing.

Good Luck!

Torie Miller

Lets just remember this, you cant please everyone no matter how much you try to. Some people just dont understand that. I have known Rob for a conciderable amount of time and I know the quality of his C.B.B animals is unserpassed. I also know that Rob just recently has started to turn his passion for this Hobby into a business and that makes him less accesable now a-days. But rest assure that if you are even thinking about purchasing from RKreptiles, "do it". One other thing for as much experiance as Rob has with wild caught and C.B.B chameleons as I know we are both members of "AD CHAM", those of you who post after you read some husbandry book on keeping chameleons should keep your traps shut. Books help a little but most of the experiance you need will have to come from trial and error or just doing it long enough. Something that Rob and I know all to well.
So to sum it up Rob and Kim Trenor it one of the best guys out there to purchase W.C or C.B.B herp period!!! I will stand by that 100%.

Wow thanks Torie! Your wisdom knows no boundaries LOL!
Seriously though Rob admitted himself that he overlooked the flaws on the Star tortoises. SO does that mean that his customer should suffer because he offers a live arrival guarantee only? Let's suppose you ordered an animal from him and it arrived alive but missing a foot would you be happy with it? Once again I do not feel that Rob misrepresents his animals intentionally but when a mistake is made or a flaw is overlooked it should be the sellers responsibility to make it right and not assume that the customer is having "buyers remorse".

Jackie Lapradd

Jackie,

You are correct that terms are there so you have backing to put your foot down when the customer becomes out of control. Any business owner that wants to stay in business for more than a year needs to takes steps towards the clients viewpoint. I think we saw this with Rob when he shipped the free animals since the customer was hesitating over price.

If you are that particular about a purchase of an animal that minor flaws in coloring are an issue you really need to go to a show or a breeders place of business and hand pick them. Due to the limitations of digital photographs (both equipment and most people's skill of taking photos) you are not going to get perfect detail (different computers even resolve color shading different). On the other thread it seemed that Rob provided a number of photos at different angles for the client. There has to be some responsibility on the client to ask the right questions especially if they are that particular on a specific detail.

Just my opinion. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Jackie,
You are So right it is hard to be right all the time <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

Yes, They arrived ALIVE!! duh!! foot or no foot!

Torie Miller

Jackie,

First off when I ship yes I guarantee live healthy arrival.  Whent he customer receives them, tell me They are here, they look great, I am happy with them or anything along those lines my guarantee is done.  As far as the Tortoises they customer received them, told me on the phone as well as on e-mail they were there, he was very happy with them and could not wait for them to breed with his other Stars.  Well that is the end of my deal. PERIOD.  It was not until 3 days later the person decided they did not want them any longer.  Sorry charly but that aint happening.  If a customer wants a 3+ day guarantee or money back guarantee unconditional on what ever reason that they feel like returning then they better start buying stuffed chameleons.  I sell QUALITY animals PERIOD!! Like someone stated, if you do not like my terms then by all means go ahead and purchase from a breeder that will offer you a more acceptable guarantee. I had more buyers wanting the 20 lot of veiled that Mike originally purchased from me but I chose to let him have them since he was the first to contact me regarding them.  I can guarantee if anyone else had purchased them we would not be here having these discussions.  not saying they would have stayed alive we will never know that now, but that any other person who pays below current wholesale prices on animals and a few perish is not going to bitch about it specially after they are given free animals.  I would love to contact me exporters in any of the 5 countries I import from and tell them " Hey 5 of the * chameleons I imported from you died 2 days after arrival"  That would not work now would it. and neither is this ploy to get more animals from me at no charge.

Rob and RKReptiles

I have never purchased chams or tortoises from Rob, but I did purchase snakes on two separate occasions.
Both snakes (Amazon Tree Boas) arrived on time as promised and were in excellent health. Rob answered emails promptly, was knowledgable, and kept all of his promises.
Rob is one of the good guys out there!

I purchased 30 Veiled chams from RK REPTILES. I was told they were 3-4 weeks old. When I received them they looked OK, and were all alive.

Okay then, you were happy with them. Rob has a live arrival guarantee....... so he owes you nothing! Mike, YOU owe yourself a reality check!

I'm supposed to be happy because he through in 2 extra Incas some died.

If you were not happy with these, then send them back!

my experience with rob

This thread may be over a year old. but I still want to post of my purchace from Rob. Last winter I bought an adult male ball python from him. The deal took about 10 minutes between emails and completion. I recieved the ball the next day. The packing was excellent, but for some reason the heat packs weren't working and the snake was cold and weezing. Stuff happens. I emailed Rob and told him about it immediately. He replied within minutes asking me what I wanted to do. I told him I would dose him with baytril and warm cage, ect. and maybe he would come out of it. Well, about a week later the ball died. I emailed Rob again to let him know about it. Again, within minutes I got a reply from him. The next morning a replacement showed up on my doorstep. This one is doing great, although he lost some weight before I finally got him to eat. (not Rob's problem) To me it shows excellent customer service and I will definately buy from him again! Thanks Rob.:)

RK Reptiles

I have purchased several snakes from Rob and find him to be very thoughtful and professional.I am quite happy with my snakes and would buy from Rob again. He does find some unique animals and they're always shipped on time with no snafu's.

Thanks Rob!:D

Mike 'The scalper' Klein and IBD Condo (aka Chamelon Condo)

Mike 'The scalper' Klein and IBD Condo (aka Chamelon Condo)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Dan Gorfain (DGReptiles). Please do a 'search' on Chameleon Condo (on www.reptiforum.com as well). 'Honest' Mike Klein is definitely a very, very, bad guy and sells snakes with IBD. He sold me a trio of ''genetic, co-dom jungles' on 10/29/04 that were not what he claimed them to be. I have been breeding albino burmese pythons for 8 years now (just got into boas this year) and own the following collection: Breeding pair of albino burmese pythons & 12 of their '04 babies, '03 tiger retic., '03 albino retic., large silver retic., and four early '04 boas that have been in my breeding room (with burms and retics)for almost 7 months now. I only breed burms right now, and do not buy/resell. On, 10/29/04, I purchased three, female,"co-dom, jungle, aberrant boas" from Mike Klein, owner of Chameleon Condo. The boas were supposedly 'flawless' and in perfect condition. Upon arrival, they all exhibited mild to severe respiratory illness, which I immediately notified Mike of. They were not shipped with heat packs, and he said the respiratory problems were probably due to the fact that the temps were low that week. He told me to hang on to them and they should get better. The one with severe respiratory problems started 'swaying' its head back and forth and suddenly died a week later. The other two snakes were slowly getting better but still showed symptoms of illness. I had Nikos Gurfield, DVM, Dipl. ACVP Veterinary Pathologist, San Diego County Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory(858)694-2838 perform a necropsy on the dead boa. The report (which I can email, if anyone is interested) stated that the boa died from IBD, or Inclusion body disease. All of these 'female' '04 neonate aberrant boas were apparently housed in one container at Chameleon Condo (per Mike). I also had Elliott Jacobson ([email protected]) examine the deceased boa's liver and he concurred that IBD inclusions were present. The deceased 'female' boa turned out to be male, and when I had fecals run on the two remaining boas, Dr.Jenkins (Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital) [email protected], they came up positive for 'high concentrations of strongyle worms'. When I notified Mike of the diagnosments (IBD and worms), he partially refunded me $150.00 for the snake that died from IBD. He also said he would, 'take care of my situation and notify the other buyers that bought babies that were housed with the IBD carrier'. When I questioned him on what 'taking care of my situation', meant, he did not respond. I also asked him who the breeder was (who I am aware of now), and he did not respond. After that, he has not returned my phone calls and/or emails. The good news is: I have a strict quarrantine routine and use seperate cleaning supplies and even a seperate sink for the breeder and quarrantine room and vigorously wash my hands several times with warm, soapy water and always handle the quarrantine animals last. From what I understand, burmese and retics seem especially suceptible and are not 'asymptomatic carriers' like boas. Apparently, most pythons die fairly quickly, and exhibit some sort of neurosis when infected with IBD. None of my snakes show any symptoms or signs of distress and have been kept seperate from the quarrantine area, which is on the other side of the house in a different room. Since this occured, I have stopped selling the baby albino burms and have been keeping them with the other four, early '04 boas (the only other boas I own) to see if they show any signs of distress or infection. Nothing in my breeder room has shown any sign of illness or infection. I also had the opportunity to have a necropsy done on an '04, premature, ligated, albino burm that I had been force-feeding since birth. The necropsy (done by previously mentioned Dr. Gurfield) came back negative for IBD: Cause of death was kidney failure (I can email report), which was obviously good news. It's a good thing I am OCD about quarrantine and use seperate cleaning supplies, or it could have turned out much different. Also, If anyone that is not a breeder and preferably doesn't own any other reptiles would like to provide a PERMANENT home for the remaining two siblings, I will give them to you at absolutely no charge. I will even pay shipping costs. They are really awesome-looking jungle-ish boas with nice peaches coming in, but they almost assuredly have IBD. I will absolutely never breed them though (as even liver biopsies are not 100%), and they are just a hazard to my collection. If you have any questions please let me know.

Dan.... Why on Earth would you dig up a 2 year old thread about Rob Trenor, to post a bad guy thread about Chameleon Condo??.... That's ridiculous and it's WRONG!!.... You made your point in the other thread.... don't turn into a STALKER or YOUR reputation won't be worth a hill of beans!!.... Get it??
