    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Our beardie has these weird looking scales on her tail. They don't seam to hurt her when we touch them. What is making these scales turn like this? How can we prevent more from turning?

I don't know what causes them, but every dragon I have ever had has had some. I think it's just part of being a dragon. I say if it don't hurt em and doesn't become infected, let it go. :)
 
Sometimes they grow back and sometimes they are gone forever. It's just one of those things........ :shrug01:
 
I have a similar problem, except for on my beardie it is a patch of scales that look like that one. Like this case, they do not seem to cause my dragon any pain. Are they scales that have fallen off or what? I am not sure I understand. If you would like pics I can provide.
 
sorry for the horrible quality. The scales just look... dried out, i guess. Could it be part that didnt come off in a shed?

Its hard to tell in the pics but if its just from shedding it should come off sooner or later with the help of warm bath water and basking. Sometimes mine seem to have stopped shedding and then some more come off.
 
Some people think that it is okay, but most others don't. Superworms are much better than mealworms because have less chitin. Crickets have a better nutritional balance than superworms. But an even better feeder would be roaches or silkworms.
 
Well silkworms is what I want to feed them, but they would probably be costing me a lot more than crickets and definately more than mealies or supers because i can raise those. Silkworms ended up being to complicated for me to raise with the time I have though I did get quite a few moths and a few offspring. Silks are really what I would prefer to feed though. About the roaches, I'm trying to raise some and have had no luck for months until this past week I found 10-15 little ones runnin around. Are discoids good for them? I've heard that mealies are a definate no as a staple, and I thought I'd heard the same about supers but I'm not sure. Yesterday I was browsing the internet though and ran into some people that use them as staple... but I wanted to ask first because it sounded ?iffy?

What would you suggest as an affordable staple food? Are there any that require next to no maintanence to raise like mealies and supers that are bettter for them?
