In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi there, I am a bit concerned for one of my friend's leos...

They just got this little guy, and to begin with his first shed with them was not complete within 5 days. He still had shed left over on day 5, partially on his head, and some on his back.

My first instinct with shedding problems is parasites, so my friend is working on getting a fecal. However, yesterday they found the leo laying across his water dish. I was wondering if this means that it is parasites, or what it could possibly mean, since I have heard leos do this when they are dehydrated, but am not sure if its a parasite sign too.

What does laying in the water dish usually mean?
If a leo were just laying across a water dish, out of the blue without any other issues, what could it mean?

Also: the little leo is eating well and drinking well so far...so we are still hopeful of early detection being the key...

It sounds more like a matter of low humidity, although it never hurts to get a fecal exam if there is any doubt about a gecko's health. My suggestion would be to have your 'friend' keep a moist hide in the gecko's enclosure. :)

hmmm low humidity is possible, however my friend does provide a humid hide, with peat moss in the enclosure at all times for the week and a half that the leo has been theirs. I was told that the leo did not want to go in the humid hide and I gave some suggestions as how to make it more appealing for the little guy. Thanks for your reply :) I am glad to hear that it doesn't sound more serious :)
