    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all,

I'm having a custom built stack of wood cages in the bookcase style with each cage about 4' by 16" by 16" or so. If I put heat tape along one of the ends and on the backside at that end, do you think I could get a decent heat for them? I hear everyone debate over belly heat and back heat but I figure getting about four or so strips of 3" or 5-6" tape would focus the heat enough on one side and if they are space right, it ought to give a nice gradient, right?

The builder also says that heat panels are an option, but I think I'm more comfortable with tape. I'm also curious if it's a bad idea to have a wood cover for the tape so stuff isn't bumping it if i move furniture in my room. I usually keep my room warm, but it would be nice to have a setup that can get hotter if I need it and heat tape seems to be pretty good as long as the cage material and substrate isn't too thick.

If anyone can recommend a site that sells pre-wired heat tape, I can go bug them too!

thanks all, help appreciated, having a rough week!
