In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hi
* my first trade and first shipping experience*
ok this was the deal,.................

on wed nov. 20th he was going to send 5 ball pythons to me, they were scedualed to arrive on thu nov. 21 2013 at 10:30am. (he told me make sure someone is there to receive the snakes) because i would be in school my mom was going to accept package.

then that afternoon (thursday nov 21 2013)we were to ship out 2 ball pythons to him. which we did. following his instructions with his arrival time and packaging. we dropped off the package that evening to our local fed ex hub sent him the tracking #

DETAILS....
my mom was home to accept the package on wed. 1030am (her friend took a video of the package opening because this was really our first time) opening the box she 1st noticed the most valuable snake not in a bag (probably escaped the bag but the next thing she noticed was a rat bite on one of their necks/ heads, the snakes were a bit cold *mentioned in the video)
she imediately put the snakes in their quaranten bins i had set up the night befoer) to get heat on them..
*she then called him at about 11am, told him she received the package and asked him about the mark on the snakes neck/head. he said "i feed all my snakes live rats and sometimes a snake will get bit"" he said " it's really not a big deal." "when a snake gets bitten he takes a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, and it disenfects it" "he will be fine"

as soon as i got home at 345, my mom explained how things went. i imediately inspected the snakes, i noticed the smallest BELs bottom jaw was swolen and it had what looked like 2 punture marks on his lower jaw.......
at 353pm i texted him pics of the snakes jaw and asked him to call me....

we then went to ship our 2 healthy snakes....

i spoke to him later that evening about the BEL he said it really wasnt a big deal, that it would heal but because he guarentees the health of his snakes, he said that if it would make me feel better i could ship the BEL back to him and he will send me out another one (because he had another one). i asked him if he would pay for the shipping back to him and he said thats pushing it.
i told him i had to talk to my mom and i would get back to him.
he would not pay for us to ship the bell back.

waiting for confirmation that he recieved my 2 healthy snakes that were to arrive to him by 1030am on friday nov. 22
at 11:36am he texted me and asked me what the tracking # was. i texted him the #. but i was concerned that it seamed as he had not received them when he was supposed to at 10;30am i imediately tracked the package and it said delivered at 9:57 am
i called him and he said he had realized that his sister had recieved the package on time and she had the box inside but he wasnt home..
i messaged him to let me know when he gets to the package and checks out my snakes. again at 2:18 pm i asked him if he had gotten home yet?
he responded he said "yes i have, they were cold but are now in the racks."
(i wanted to say well no s#@t they were kept in their shipping box in the house unopened from 10am till at least 2pm. uhhgg)

later that night he said all here and safe, beutiful animals
* some texting back and forth*

after talking to a ball python breeder i know about all of this, we took several more photos of both the male albino and the bells rat bites, the swelling and punture wounds and what a spot with what looked like the start of bruising on the top of their heads.
* at 10:41pm that night we sent him 9 very clear pix and expressed our concerns about the punture marks, swelling, and the posibility of infections from the rat bites and asked him how he thinks we should handle this?

**we didnt recieve a responce until 9:24pm the next night.
the responce he sent was "they are healthy animals, it will heal"

we were justifiably irratated and dissapointed with everything that has transpired with this whole trade.

at 10:41pm we sent him a message saying "they are punture wounds!! the white one has swelling under her jaw, and the albino has redness isnt that signs of infection. possibly needing vet care?" included 3 pictures also

now waiting..........

i know there are many breeders that feed f/t (which we do) and there are some that feed live. i know that when snakes eat live they can be bitten (this is why i feed f/t. but i wouldnt think its normal for breeders to send out snakes that had been recently bitten by rats.

please help me with this....
this was my first trade and i would like some opinions about the injuries and what we should do

thank you for reading this (i know it was long)
andrew

There are a few questions you have to ask yourself first:
Are you satisfied with your purchase? Do you believe you are owed compensation? Do you feel like the sellers responses are a good enough excuse?

I would recommend that if you feel you should get compensation, let the seller know. See if you can come up with a resolution with the seller.
If you still feel cheated and nothing really get done, then by all means go to the BOI

But keep in mind that not all sellers feel the same, especially when it comes to shipping.
If you really rather have the other snake, and take a chance that it too could not be perfect, and risk shipping in the cold. Then you may need expect to pay the shipping fees, but at the same time, I have never dealt with bite marks, to the severity you are describing, before.
Personally I feed F/T, but I know not everyone does. Sorry if I couldnt help ya, I would be ticked to if I was sent a sick snake.

Wow, that albino may be permanently scared, infection is the highest concern. Have you resolved anything with the seller?

That's not a excuse I feed all my snakes live rats and I havent had any of my snakes getting bit like that he probably just open the tub and throw the rat In there and call it the day I always wait until they grab it to make sure they don't get bit

That's what I did when I fed live. Ok, I would contact the seller and try to work something out. Maybe try for a partial refund. Especially if he didn't say anything about the damage. If not, take it to the BOI if no resolution is found. I find the sellers husbandry something to be questioned

:angry:we are not happy....

we gave him,
a female phantom
and a female pewter
(both over 1100 gs)

and he gave us,
baby female BELL (with punture wounds on lower jaw and head)
male champagne
female albino
female het pied (no paper work)
male albino (with the bites on his neck and marks on his head and face...

its unfortunate that our 1st shipping/trade experience has not been good..

i just took these 3 pix, doesnt look infected but not looking much better either

i also just sent him the pix and asked him to...
ship us out 2 new snakes
pay for our shipping lable and when we get and check them we will send the 2 injured ones back...

is this fair?

I have a snake that I received with pretty bad rat bites. Several actually. It took nearly a year for them to heal. I think if the bites aren't infected and kept clean they will heal on their own with each shed. The swelling on the jaw is concerning though. I'd call a vet.

I would not want snakes with that kind of bites. I have had a snake get bitten by a rat and it healed, but I would not want to receive one let alone two in a trade. I would never offer a snake to someone with a bite. If I did a deal and then the snake was bitten, I would inform the buyer and either stop it or make other arrangements.

this is how he responded to our last request on wed. nov27th 2013

about 7pm he sends us
a thumbs up

at 916 pm he sends us
i will call you
im busy now

now what??? we havent heard from him.....

I would post a BOI thread. Pay attention to the rules, provide all info and evidence in the first post, and be clear. I would also sex the snakes before posting to make sure you received correctly sexed snakes. Those snakes should not have been sent out. The nose rub could be from the shipping bag but everything else appears to be from stressed snakes in improper enclosures.
