In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry BallBids.com?

I don't understand why they keep coming back and posting, unless they are trying to bury the facts. They keep saying they have dis-proven all facts against them. If that is the case, here is a short synopsis of the events that they have not disputed. Nowhere, have I seen any of these challenged or spoken to by Ballbids:

-Zach (owner of Ballbids) came to the forums (more than just this one) behaved badly, didn't follow the rules and was banned. On one forum, he kept making multiple accounts, even after repeatedly being warned not to do it by the moderators. On others, he threw temper tantrums, called people names and even threatened them by saying he grew up in a bad part of Miami, implying he was a thug. [Note: If you search member usernames "man-made evolution", ZByers7, then ZachBallBids on the various forums, you can see the behavior for yourself.] Zach and his father are very quick to challenge other's character, however this behavior does show some insight into a person's character. Zach's posts showed he lacked maturity, had a bad temper and displayed a threatening posture. Is this someone you want to give your credit card information to? Is someone who displays this type of behavior to be trusted?

-Zach has limited experience (by his own admission in forum posts) with ball pythons and only months before launching Ballbids thought throwing several snakes together in a single tank was proper husbandry. Is this someone you trust with guaranteeing genetics or health of an expensive exotic animal? The word of the company is only as good as those who run it.

-The original Terms of Service for Ballbids did not provide for any refunds or guarantee of live delivery or of genetics of the auctioned animals. The Terms and Conditions were constantly changing and still contain various grammar and spelling problems, showing very little attention to detail. The current TOS link returns a 404 error, but the last version (week of September 25, 2012) did not state that buyer would receive a refund if not happy with genetics or health of animal, just that they were "guaranteed". The TOS should explicitly state what the guarantee means.

-Avi (another owner, who has now gone silent) attempted to calm the waters by coming on the forums doing damage control for Zach's behavior. He even said it was his idea to create multiple accounts, so it wasn't Zach's fault. Zach never accepted responsibility for his behavior, so why can he be trusted to handle financial transactions with sensitive data?

-When asked about their quarantine procedures, Zach and Avi could not answer the question and instead started answering with information about their heat tape and homemade racks. Again, is this someone you want guaranteeing genetics and health?

-Ballbids claimed falsely to have sold snakes at a fraction of their cost in their advertising banners, when at the time they had not sold ANY snakes. When asked if they had sold any snakes, Ballbid's response was it was just marketing. Yet, they are very quick to call others liars.

-Avi and Zach stated that penny auctions are frequently associated with scams. However, they also continue to claim that Ballbids is good for the reptile community, even though their business model (penny auctions) is associated with scams. How can both of those statements be true?

-Ballbids posted the name of a very well-known breeder of ball pythons on their site and implied there was an association with the breeder (a typical scammer trick). The breeder publicly denied a relationship with Ballbids, other than being a seller, and stated he would no longer do business with them. Ballbids then removed the name of the breeder from their site. Ballbids continues to claim they have contact and a relationship with "large" breeders, but there doesn't appear to be any evidence of it and they will not disclose who those relationships are with.

-Zach has been banned from just about every well-known snake forum on the Internet. So, now his father comes to the forums to defend the company that he does not have any financial interest in or any ownership of. He says he is visiting to combat the lies about the company. Yet, the majority of his posts are attacking others and dodging questions. Instead of ignoring unprofessional posts directed at him, he jumps in and engages in the exact same behavior he says he is combating.

-The original launch of the Ballbid site was a disaster resulting in Ballbids having to refund everyone's money and cease operations for several months.

-The re-launch has been plagued with supposedly "attacks" and server problems that cause their servers to be overloaded or causing the auctions to be halted. No one knows if an auction is going to go through to completion or stop because of delays, errors or problems. These "attacks" seem to happen mostly at a time near the end of the auction. When bidders (their valued customers) ask about the delays or complain that they are wasting their time on Ballbid's Facebook page, the comments are quickly deleted.

-Ballbids claims to be a new major player in the ball python industry, but they have not vended a table at any reptile show (including one of the country's largest in their home state). If they are such a good thing for the ball python community, why don't they participate in it at the Expos?

-When Zach's father or Programmer come to the forums, they quickly turn to calling names, questioning the integrity of anyone who asks them questions and are quick to call people liars and other names. They also claim the only reason people on the forums are against them is because they are jealous of their business model, which the owners of Ballbids acknowledge is associated with scammers.

-Ballbids does not reveal the supplier/breeder of their animals, which is a red flag in itself. Are these breeders careful with their collections, selling healthy animals? Ballbids claim that breeders are harassed, but I've only seen evidence of people directing breeders to the multiple threads on the various forums concerning Ballbids.

-Ballbids states that they are helping breeders by helping them move stock. This implies that it is unwanted or inferior animals that are left over that are being auctioned, since the breeder(s) can hide behind Ballbid's corporate veil. If Ballbids guarantees health, genetics and quality, then what recourse is there against a less than reputable breeder dumping a collection with IBD or other issues? Since Ballbids selects the breeders of the animals auctioned, then we can only trust Zach and company with making good decisions, something he does not have a history of in his other behavior or actions.

-Ballbids created a webpage in their defense that they purport to be an unbiased account of the facts but it neglects to mention any of the items listed above.

The above synopsis does not include other things that Ballbids disputes (such as friends winning auctions, the state of Kentucky shutting down the first auctions, and auctions stopped because they did not get enough profit, etc.). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and let's forget all of the disputed allegations. Say they never happened. So, leaving all of the disputed claims aside, there are still a lot of issues with the owners of Ballbids. All of those reasons are more than enough to keep me away from them as a seller or as a buyer.

I'm sure this post will get me a response saying that they respect my opinion to not do business with them, and then in the next sentence call me a name, most likely a "hater". I can't understand why Mr. Byers & Marty continue to come to this site and others and stir the pot. If the business model is so good and they are such up standing people in the ball python community, then just go about your business and ignore the forums. If someone is committing tortious interference with your business, you don't debate them on the Internet and call them names, you file law suits.

They have all stated that those of us on the forums are a very small part of the real ball python community (I guess those of us who do Expos are also a very small part). So, it can't be doing but so much harm if we are so small and insignificant. And, if we are so small and insignificant, then why bother wasting time with all of the posts?

I don't understand why they keep coming back and posting, unless they are trying to bury the facts.

That is exactly what they are doing. People are coming here to find the real deal, because on their site, posts seem to be edited out unless they are joyously proclaiming how great their company is.

So they come here, pick a little fight, and bury the real information. They were here pretty quick after the last disaster of an auction they put on, they realized folks would come here to see what's up.

In my opinion, truth is not their middle name.

In my opinion, truth is not their middle name.

Heck, they don't even know the meaning of truth. Their definition of truth, is their own skewed perspective on the perceived wrongs done to them. Their truth is coated in so many layers of lies, it is a wonder they can keep up with them.

It will be interesting to see how the new format works for them. Unless there is another more experienced programmer helping the inept one, I doubt it will fare any better than the previous format.

Honestly, if they are in fact suffering from DDoS attacks, then a new script isn't going to help them one little bit. They need a darn good server admin that knows how to set up a firewall properly, and handle all the native tools available to deal with such attacks. A properly written program script will help keep hackers from being able to find flaws in the programming and therefore exploit the server, but it will do nothing at all concerning a bonafide attack against the server itself. A DDoS attack is an EXTERNAL attack that goes after the IP address and or the domain name. It really doesn't care at all about what scripts are running on that server.

Regardless of the claims to the contrary......

Their truth is coated in so many layers of lies, it is a wonder they can keep up with them..

Actually, they haven't done a very good job of that.

Just because I have nothing better to do, and it'd be a shame if some interesting information got buried, I'll reiterate just a select few instances of their...discrepancies, coincidences, and other notworthy shadiness, below:

Buying the way you see fit is certainly fine but posting the correct information should be important.

The statements in bold seem like an awfully big paradigm shift, and one that I'd think would have been worthy of making prior mention of. Assuming that they didn't have some reason to live in abject fear of any sense of transparency. Can't imagine why they'd not want people to know that they're drop-shipping the auction "winnings". Unless, of course, the "new" modus operandi wasn't much better than the original one: All animals kept in-house, with no quarantine to speak of.

Seeing as they've never had more than one auction listing at at time, and have completed so few auctions, I have to wonder if Avi was lying from the beginning. It's more likely that drop-shipping was always what they intended to do, and the idea that they actually possessed the snakes that they sold, was nothing more than a ruse designed to instill a false sense of security with their prospective buyers.

Once their lack of forethought was exposed, concerning the logistics of safely housing a large amount of snakes, from different sources, together with no QT in place, the farcical idea that they had any intentions of ever having physical possession of the snakes was quickly dropped.

They jumped into this with dollar signs in their eyes, a clear willingness to lie whenever it suited them, and precious little knowledge about reptiles, assuming they had any at all. That says all I need to know about them.

Their Say Yes page is no longer on FB - whether that's temporary or permanent - that's yet to be seen. There's also some speculation that Marty may or may not still be working with them, since he revealed to Kim that he did not believe her e-mail from Kentucky Board of Auctioneers was fake.

I have not yet checked to see if the link that Mark posted over and over again is still live - will do that next. If it's not - then it's a likely probability that Marty and Ballbids have parted ways - since Marty hosted that link, not FB.

Don's post should definitely be re-quoted and re-posted any time these "gentlemen" come and attempt to bury it. Probably one of the best synopses I've seen.

Just to clear up a previous post, if youre gonna quote me to try to make me look bad, you should do a better job. Here is what I actually said in reference to the DDOS attacks:

There were 2 DDOS, but not by any SayNo Supporter. But there have been other attacks from SayNo Supporters, one admitted it on their page and 3 others, that I will not identify due to legal reasons.

And I do business as Marty Kerstetter of MKI Designs, NOT radarman2000.

Heres on last thing. The security and site upgrades will be done by Monday. No one will be blocked from seeing the site. But there is something very special waiting for anyone that decides to try anything. VERY Special.

And to quell all the assumptions running around that Im no longer programming for BallBids, think again.

Good bye, I have no further reason to post here

Interesting that he's still the programmer but they have bought a new script from an outside source. And Marty it was kinda low to report me for quoting you on Facebook. Just sayin'

Well, that is what he does best. Bullies behind a screen. I also find it incredibly interesting that they "received" another script...one that Marty did not write...

Threatening people isn't going to get you anywhere, Marty...the only thing "spacial" here, is you continue to think you have a leg to stand on

Actually, as far as I can find, and according to the state of Florida, MKI Designs doesn't exist in any official business sense. It's neither a registered LLC nor a registered fictitious name (DBA). Which makes it nothing more than an online alias, as easily discarded as an any other self-chosen online identity or email address. Such as this one you used to use: [email protected].

ApexPredatorBoids : I couldnt give a rats ass what you did your didnt find online. You make no differece to me or my business.

To Mike Reed. Your still as stupid today as youve been in the past. You see new graphics and all of a sudden that means new script. FYI, I did the site for Bidcraze and they are no longer in business, and I can use whatever graphics I choose for the site, as long as I own them. I could care less what you think and even less what you know. Go fuck yourself. This whole thread is full of ignorant assholes that deserve each other. I know I'll be banned for this post but I dont give a fuck. Piss off, the lot of you.

To Mike Reed. FYI, I did the site for Bidcraze and they are no longer in business,.

I deleted most of your post in this reply because it was very unprofessional and against the rules of this forum (profanity and personal attacks). However, I do want to point out the highlighted part and say that it my wish that your record of programming sites and them going out of business will continue. Ballbids is not good for the reptile community. You can see my previous post to see why.

Well, Marty, if that last post doesn't inspire confidence in your site and drive the hordes of people to line your pockets, I don't know what will.

Good bye, I have no further reason to post here

You probably should have left well-enough alone, unless you are trying to be a martyr.
