    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey all, I'm new to Fauna. Just thought I'd go somewhere where people understand what I'm going through and maybe give me some extra advice.

I purchased a pair of BPs (0.1 mojave and 1.0 lesser) at the All Cleveland show at the beginning of March from a great guy that came highly recommended (Eric Erb of ReptileTubs.com). Soon after getting my two new lovelies home, I began to notice clicking when the mojave would breathe.It quickly advanced to bubbling around the mouth, and I took her straight to a vet as soon as I could get her an appointment. These two have been in quarantine and Eric has no other animals sick, so I'm not sure where this came from, as it was barely a week after I got them that the symptoms started. I by no means blame Eric, as all his animals look top-notch and I know several people who have purchased quite a few very nice animals from him.

Fast forward to now, and the vet tells me my mojave has full-blown pneumonia and the lesser, who had been symptom free, is now clicking as well. They've been giving my mojave injections of antibiotics, but her weight has been yo-yoing every time she goes in, despite regular meals (195g, 144g, 173g, etc).

I'm worried sick about these two, especially the mojave. She is the most curious and personable little ball I've ever seen, and it breaks my heart to see her lethargic and curled up in the corner of her tub, mouth gaping to breathe.

If anyone has any advice, or can let me know how long I can expect to battle this thing, I would really appreciate it.
 
1) Identifying the seller, and detailing problems with the animals you purchased, effectively makes this a BOI type post...which is not acceptable anyplace other than the BOI. Posting a picture, and saying you bought the snake from _______ is one thing; but if you are looking for help/information about problems like this - leave the names out of the story.

2) Those are pretty drastic weight swings, considering that most injectable antibiotics would be given every 2-3 days (in some cases, daily). I'm inclined to guess that there is some error in measurement, or there is too much time between doses (or both).

3) Have you followed the vet's instructions regarding increasing temperature and adjusting humidity?

4) There is no way we can project how quickly, or even if, your snakes will get better...especially based on the information provided. There are too many variables that haven't been revealed, and we don't have the benefit of having examined the snake.

5) Given what little you've told us, I suspect that there are some husbandry problems that you need to correct. I could speculate as to what they might be, but it would just be a guess until you provide more relevant information.
 
1) My bad, I'll remember for the future.
2) Yeah, I was thinking their scale was off or someone forgot to zero it out, but those were the weights they were giving me. I'm just keeping track of the info they take down whenever she goes in. The male's intake is tomorrow, so I'll pay closer attention to their weighing of him to see what exactly they're doing.
3) I changed their bedding from cypress mulch to unprinted newsprint, increased their hotspot from 90'F to 95'F, and give them a light misting every other day. This, added with changing out their water dishes (whole new dish) daily to reduce back contamination. All per the vet's instructions.
4) I was mainly just trying to see what other's experiences were when dealing with this sort of thing. I've never had an animal get sick like this before, so I'm just trying to roll with the punches.
