    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My sister in law showed me an invoice from a vet that called for Baytrill orally not injected for a bacterial infection ( what kind , it didn't say ) for her western painted 6 inch turtle. 14 day administration orally......

orally? interesting. i know baytril comes in a suspension form at a strength of 22.7 mg/ml. how the heck is she supposed to give it orally? 14 days sounds right. is it a once daily or twice daily dosing? i am surprised that they just didn't give her injections.

More than likely, it's because giving a turtle injections is probably a little tough for someone who may not have ever given injections before, let alone to a turtle. Plus, Baytril burns like no tomorrow and if given improperly, will cause abscessing and sloughing of skin. Can we say OW? Also, how clean can you really get a turtle's skin where you are to give the injection? Probably not very and that would contribute to the abscessing and irritation.

It would be MUCH easier to give the oral Baytril in some turkey babyfood twice a day than to give an injection. Much more pleasant experience for both parties and will work just as well.

I even give the injectable Baytril(100mg/ml-large animal stuff) orally and it works wonders. There is oral Baytril and injectable. I prefer the high strength injectable stuff given orally. No problems here, but it does smell and taste like something dead, LoL. I just mix it in something nummy such as chocolate syrup(or presently, eggnog), and it gets lapped up quite well.

To give Baytril orally is much easier, but not as much of it is absorbed by the body compared to being injected. Baytril injections is the best if you can do it.

Bayril 68 is what vets usually prescribe for oral applications. It is a tablet form which you smash (pulverise) mix with water, and give to the turtle. The hard pert is dosing it. Once you smash it up, you must weigh up the proper amount for the size of the turtle unless the vet already gave you 14 seperate doses.
Oral baytril is usually not used for respitory or bloodborn infections, those usually require injectable antibiotics.
