In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I do my fair share of online shopping for the dragons and thought it would be cool if some of us shared where we find goodies for our dragons.

I often find some good items and deals on ebay.com Also I like to shop at LLLReptile.com (occasionally they have some good deals on supplies). Reptiledirect.com is another good place in my opinion to find supplies at decent prices.

Where else is a good place to shop???

I have gone to Home Depot for fluorescent lighting, much cheaper than the reptile specialty houses and they have UV too.
Also, I go on Ebay from time to time and just check out who has the best prices on sand blasted grapevine wood, I think a few of those branches in a terrarium is just beautiful; I have found that individuals will sometimes sell a box at a time for far less money than reptile shops.

With the cost of sand blasted grapevine being so high I would love to find someone with a box of it. :hehe: I got most of mine on ebay. Even after paying the shipping it's significantly less than what I would pay at my local pet stores.

A word about E-bay,has anyone ever gone to their lizard page, they are selling lizards in amber, but instead of amber fossils they are selling creatures that are man-made,using molten amber and pouring over usually live lizards and other creatures, one listing is a 3200 hundred dollar gecko(if I remember correctly) the others are 75 dollar man-made junk.I am aware of these methods because I've been a Jeweler(not the salesman but the guy that takes gold or silver or platinum.
Next is the worst thing I've ever seen, mounted Draco's(the flying lizard from Asia) with plastic cover and a discount if you buy in bulk, this is the worst affront to nature I've ever seen. What does e-bay think they died of natural causes. After I e-mail them it was removed ,for now, then they will start selling them again. As a member of IRCF and visited the Blue Iguana recovery head start program I've seen a Very impressive iguana driven to near extinction(less than 50 in 2000)are recovering, slowly.
Next time you buy e-bay your helping these death mongers. Please boycott them?

I too, can't stand to see listing of such things. However, as you stated Ebay does remove listing such as the ones you described once they are made aware of them. They don't just allow anything and everything to be posted. I think a boycott of Ebay is a bit much. They don't/can't monitor every single item posted and can't take action on things they are unaware of.

I will still shop Ebay, but I do appreciate people such as yourself, in reporting such items and having them removed.

My favorite webshops

I like reptiledirect.com, they are cheap, but unreliable. Even if they say it is in stock, it usually is not and you never know what you're going to get or when you are going to get it. Plus they charge pretty hefty for shipping. But if you buy in bulk you do decent there. For a few pennies more you can go to reptilesupply.com (Cheapest MVB @ $30). Only tried them a few times, but very decent and they do an excellent job at packing even special requests! I will do LLL on occassion fro certain items, but with it coming from CA expect to wait a while. I also go through thatpetplace.com, they are very accurate on in stock items, fair prices. Love shopping the store more than online though! It's HUGE!!! But of course my favorite is going to the shows and purchasing there.

Well kids I never expected much responce but I'm getting some coward sending blocked e-mails to my home e-mail account(and I was foolish enough to believe these were confidental) and the words sound like it's out of a grade "B" Godfather,or Spy movie,"This is from someone you can't reply to,You can't answer this e-mail or reply so don't even try!Now the count is up to 3 messages. To quote Bugs"What a Maroon"Well I must have hit a nerve with somebody, calling for a boycott of e-bay,and after 7 e-mails they are going to investagate,BULLCHIPS,they knew selling mounted lizards and the Flying Draco no-less,What did they think it was a bad landing that killed them? The tower gave them the wrong runway?Only man makes mistakes, nature is prefection.
Till e-bay removes all mounted creatures don't buy there,I'll never buy there.OK a hunter mounts a deer head for display, these products are ,what a sign of hunting prowess,I've a account and look what I hunted down?
If you missed my earlier posting it was about selling mounted Draco's,the flying lizard and man-made "Amber" with lizards and creatures having molten "amber" poured over them,(usually while still alive,) to make fake Fossils, selling at 75 bucks, but they are selling a real fossil gecko for 3200 bucks,do they think the guy has a mass fossil mine, plus the bulk discount they offered was the topper!
If you wish to dispute me ,grow a pair!A coward dies a thousand deaths,a real man only one!decaryi1 gone.

I like LLLReptile, but I have also used AAAreptile. I guess I am really into groups of 3. Ha.

I have not seen the amber "fossils", but my daughter bought a plastic lizard that looks like it was molded from a real lizard - complete with the dead, sunken eyes and ventral slit. The details were just too great to have been made any other way. It was repulsive to think about.

Thanks,Jamie, your starting to get to the truth,I'm a retired Jeweler, and that is a method used in these Life-Like reproductions. They mold live reptiles.Only thing is you can't get the smell of death out,if done in metal from the mold you don't smell anything, plastic OH YEA!!The amber is there but they moved to back pages, they have real amber fossils of lizards, tell you fossil species and cost 3 GRAND and up with papers, then they have ones for 75 bucks! There under collectables and the real ones are under Fossils-amber. What set me off was the mounted Draco lizard, the most amazing lizard on the planet(when I told them it was a protected lizard they pulled it and damn me I was so upset I didn't print it!)----THEY FLY!!!!!!!! glide in truth,at Cyclura.com just did an GREAT article, although not new to me(I've been a herper 40 years),my son thought they were so COOL,they may still have the article or contact them and they might have the last issue available,if you sick of reading the same rehashed articles I HIGHLY recommend their magazine and its all non-profit site, devoted to the preservation of reptiles with a accent on Iguanas,NO,not the green ones ,but the Grand Cayman Blues,Jamaican rock and all the endangered species!!Decayi1,Later

I'll check that out.

I traveled to the Cayman Islands some years ago and got to see some some of the iguanas in their natural habitat. The cycluras are magnificent animals, and have been one of my personal favorites since childhood.

when you do if you can afford please join, buy a tee shirt or sign up for magazine and allot better in content than that "R" mag. that has been the mainstay of only thing to read,NO it won't tell you how to breed your cornsnake, one article by a vet. even questioned herp keeping, made me re-evaluate my own collection, but a pair of rhino Iguanas(Cyclura) in 8x6x6' walk-in cage with full heat and lighting passes the test. With equal evaluation of My Green Iguanas,My 7 Breaded Dragons,Chameleons,my Uromastx and my 14 snakes, makes good food for thought about how you set up your captives.
Sorry but here comes another pet peeve, the bastard breeding of the Cayman Blues and another rock Iguana and calling them Cayman Blues---Cowpies!!!!And Where the Hell did they get a Blue to begin with!! It's Illegal and mixing the bloodline is Bull(*&^.the people doing this are pigs, crossing any two species is creating franken-lizards! AND they look nothing like the BLUES!! Just cause you can do a thing doesn't make it RIGHT!! That goes for the Blues, the snakes and EVERYTHING else.!!Any breeder that does, makes me suspect of anything they are selling!!Decaryi1-Dave
