In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently rescued a Bearded Dragon, and I am absolutely stumped with if it's a him or a her! I would really like to add them to my breeding program because of his/her spectacular yellow coloring but I cannot unless I can sex him/her! I attached photos of the vent/tail area. Besides being a bit underweight, the dragon is in great health.

Please help me out!

With all due respect, if you already have a "breeding program", shouldn't you already know how to determine gender?

You NEVER breed rescues and you NEVER breed unless you know the dragons line and genetic history. If you do, you are an extremely irresponsible breeder.

As Laura said, if you are a breeder than you should already be able to sex.

If you are only planning on turning this baby into a breeder than do it justice and surrender it to a reptile rescue like Littlefoot Animal Refuge or The Gecko Sanctuary.

Not being able to say much on breading, I think it is great that you have rescued this dragon. I would think that it needs to gain weight and become a healthier looking and stable before you did anything else with it. I must agree since these are CB creatures understanding heritage is critical for safety of the offspring and controls of the breading populace.

These are just my thoughts on the matter and just trying to bring out topics that may have been over looked and possible forgotten in the excitement that is getting a new pet and having saved a " sweet" dragon.

First things first.

That dragon is thin, get a fecal exam done to rule out internal parasites.if she needs to be treated its a rather simple task.

After you know she is free of internal parasites start feeding her to gradually put on weight, start slow, supers, lots of fresh veggies and greens. ocassional hornworms will help to bulk her up.

You will need to soak her about every 5 days so she can drink.

Good luck!

Let me guess, you work at a reptilel rescue?

There is nothing wrong with breeding a HEALTHY dragon that was rescued, a dragons bloodline or genetic history means nothing to some people, some are more concerned with making good looking hatchings like the OP. if you seen he talked about the beautiful yellow color of this dragon. he very well may have a diamond in the rought that needs just a little work right now.

Your post came off mean spirited, is that how you want people to see you?

I'm so glad you spoke this Ed. I totally agree with you. Not all people want $400 beardies. Or more. What matters is she is healthy, active and social like.

Genetics only matter to those who want high end beardies.
Good luck with your rescue. As stated, feed that girl well and give her time to recoup. And I also agree with getting a fecal done to rule out any parasites before breeding.

Thank you so much. We visited the vet, had a fecal test done and she did have parasites. She is being treated and is in quarantine right now. She's eating her greens, squash and dubia roaches feverishly.

Lol, no one bothered to answer the question..strange how it moved off into a different topic all together.

But by the looks of it, your bearded is a she.

The question of sex was answered, you will notice I referred to the dragon as a she. :)
