• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I recently purchased 4 LTC adult females that Bearded Pets was listing on Kingsnake. I asked for info and they said that the animals had all been in their possession for a year, were clean, healthy, free of ticks and mites.

They arrived in 2 bags. The box was at least decent. I opened the first bag and one of the females seemed ok. The next one in that bag had ticks. I thought maybe it was an honest mistake, and I'd try to remove the ticks, quarantine them and move on. The second bag however changed my mind. It had 2 snakes with skin conditions. Granted one was shedding, I've seen that before countless times, but there was also some kind of disgusting blister on them. Fred Briggs was taking a closer look at the blister when it popped and oozed on his hands. At that point I quit examining the other snake and they all went back into the bags and were boxed back up.

Bearded Pets has refused to respond to any emails for the last 3 days. I wish I would have found out about the BOI earlier. This wouldn't have happened.

While I'm posting I'm going to say that I've seen a lot of positive feedback for Neil Gubitz from Tampa Snake Pit, and don't understand how they could be talking about the same guy. I know of 3 people, myself included that all had major issues with animals received from Neil.

I ended getting 2 males as "females", and then the replacement female was covered in ticks when she arrived. I sent them all back and he didn't pay shipping.

Another couple that I know bought sub adult females from him, and they were covered in ticks too.

Another guy got a snake, and it was prolapsed.

Neil comes across as a genuinely good guy, but I have to say that his track record does not match the reputation on the boi.

Eden snakes and 5star morphs have been good guys to deal with.

Buyer Beware now days. I have already been ripped of more times than I can remember. From fake "het albino females" from Rick Miller, to a bunch of males that were sold as "Adult Females", to disgustingly sick animals sold as healthy and parasite free. Are there that many dirt bags in the reptile world?

Why did yo uorder from bearded pets to begin with?

There has been COUNTLESS threads on the BOI warning people about this EXACT type of situation....
 
Another one swindeled by Jon. Nobody ever finds the BOI until it's too late.

I am so glad I didn't order from them. I was looking at that same ad and pondering. I knew about the BOI but hadn't been here in awhile..after trying to remember my password for 10 minutes..I figured I'd do a check on them and couldn't believe what I saw.

I'm suprised they're still doing business. Ok well maybe not.. I know Jeff B. doesn't like this place(It is Tibet to his China...MINE!!!:D ) but I wish he would at least kick known scammers off the classifieds...or if he does..do it faster.

Neil Gubitz and Rick Miller??

Sorry to sound rude, but stick to the subject at hand which is Bearded Pets. There are plenty of other threads that you can add personal first hand information about other sellers.

Also, what kind of snakes did you but from them?? I would gather from your description, that they are ball python's but I could be wrong. And welcome to The BOI Jason

abuut your first hand experience with Neil or with Bearded Pets. Forget about what other people told you. Their are plenty of posts about Neil. But if you did not have any dealings with Neil and this thread relates to your experiences with Bearded, I think you should keep on track , provide the information that is relative to the issue at hand.

One gets the feeling after looking at your post that the introduction of adding Neil to this picture was done intentionally to cause some additonal flame, when Neil really has nothing to do with your complaint about Bearded pets. Welcome to the BOI

That seems to be the case far too often, too bad the site hosting the classifieds (if it isn't this one obviously) doesn't seem to care enough to put differences aside for the common good and link here.

per TOS you would have to start threads on Rick Miller and Neil Gubitz separately, as Laura and Jerry said above...Sorry to hear about your dealings with Bearded Pets..If I may how did you hear about them or where did you see them advertise?...they seem to be doing a brisk business (per the different times they've been posted about here, and all bad, I think)

Sorry about getting off the subject. I didn't know that rules were so formalized. I wasn't intending to start a flame war, or ruffle feathers by talking about Rick Miller and Neil Gubitz. I was just merely pointing to the fact that I'm just one person, and haven't bought from that many people yet, however of the few that I have bought from, I'm shocked that I've had so many bad experiences.

I have absolutely decided to get anal about who I buy from, and how I buy snakes any more. I'm going to insist on all possible contact info up front, and references. I don't care any more about what I'm buying. If they get cash from me, they are going to have to provide a list of folks willing to say that they are good people.

Also, now that I have been here, I'm going to come here again if I ever consider buying from people. It's too bad that there isn't any kind of organization that accredits breeders. Like a BBB for reptiles.

Any how thanks for the comments, but I was mostly just wanting to make sure that Bearded gets full credit for what they do.

Herps. You are correct, check your sources out carefully before you decide to send monies to total strangers and expect that they will all treat you the same consideration. We all would love to see good business practices, but the fact is, this field is wide open for the best of the best to the worst of the worst.

In sofar as future posts are concerned, before you decide to bring to the attention of the BOI a wrong doing by someone else, please provide whatever proof you can to substantiate your claim, excluding heresay, and limit it to the subject matter at hand. It just makes it easier for everyone to be on track with one difficulty at a time.
 
Not the only one..

I bought what was supossed to be a LTC 2000+ female and found ticks also... I didnt do my reaseach before I ordered from them... The ball is big put no way 2000g and he even said in an email that is WC after I got her .. STUPID!! Anyways, Jon if you read this.. I WANT my money back sucker, you will face someone that you have <font color=red>[**censored**]</font>ed sooner or later..

Who is Bearded Pets

The box that arrived was from some Woman in Georgia. I want to ship the box back through Dhl and have the receiver pay. I don't want to send the box of 4 diseased Ball pythons to some stranger just because some guy using the storefront of Bearded Pets has pulled her name from a hat.

Does anyone know how I can return these snakes to the sender without having to pay? I already did that with the snakes I got from Neil, and shelled out $120 without him refunding at least return shipping. So I'm done shipping back on my dime, but I also don't know what else to do with these snakes.

Any suggestions???

You're sort of between a rock and a hard place here.

The person you got the snakes from is jon himself or his partner. elena edigi or some variation of that name, they have used a few.

jon's ip address traces to georgia even though he says he lives in montana.

There are a couple of problems with shipping back. If you try to send them back and the snakes are not accepted I think they would be returned to you and then you'd be on the hook for shipping both ways again. The snakes may not survive so much shipping. If you do manage to get jon to take the snakes back he will just sell them to some other sucker if they survive long enough.

You may want to see if you can find a rescue or just keep them yourself and see if you can get them back on their feet, so to speak.

You're sort of screwed no matter what you do.

Isn't it great that guys like jon and his friends are in business?

Good luck, unfortunately you'll need it with these clowns.

On the bright side, you've now dealt with the worst of the worst so it really should get better from here on out.

Now that has to be the most OBVIOUS scam i've EVER SEEN.

Hey Jason, I am almost certian that I have dug up ole Johhny boys READ address. I just found it and I want to be sure its his before I post it here for all the poor folks who got scammed.

Is the number 1461 on your box?

If so, I have that persons phone number and maybe even Jon JUNKS addy.

I don't know what the address is off hand, but I will definitely check. When I saw that add on Kingsnake, I nearly sent him a nasty gram, but decided a different approach would be better. I sent a reply that said I'm very interested but would prefer to get his phone number to discuss rather than email.

So far, no response. I wish I would have done that before. I'm doing it from now on. That might be a good way to weed out some of the obvious scammers.
